Venezuelan Supreme Court Torched as Jailed Opposition Leader Urges Coup

by Lucas Koerner, from Venezuelan Analysis

Venezuela’s Housing Ministry and Supreme Court executive office were attacked Monday as jailed opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez called on the country’s armed forces to “rebel” against the Maduro government.

Opposition leaders rallied their supporters to once again take to the streets in nationwide marches on Supreme Court offices, which ended in renewed violence.

The focus of the unrest was the wealthy eastern Caracas municipality of Chacao, where over 150 masked militants besieged Venezuela’s Housing Ministry with Molotov cocktails and blunt objects.

Opposition supporters destroyed the front gate and reportedly caused damage to the public attention offices in the first two levels of the building, leading the ministry’s employees to flee to higher floors. Ultimately 973 workers were evacuated from the building by firefighters, including 45 children from the ministry’s nursery. Twenty-five children received medical attention, Justice Minister Nestor Reverol has indicated.

According to Minister Manuel Quevedo, the attack is the 15th instance of opposition violence against Housing Ministry facilities nationwide, which have been frequently targeted for their role in building 1.6 million affordable homes for Venezuela’s poor.

The Supreme Court’s Executive Magistracy (DEM) in Chacao was also attacked for the fourth time in 70 days on Monday, leading to the evacuation of the office’s 2500 workers.

Hundreds of opposition supporters surrounded the building, which they proceeded to set on fire with Molotovs and homemade explosive devices in an act photographed by international journalists. Protesters broke into the high court office and carried out pieces of furniture that they subsequently burnt in the streets…

Marco Rubio Introduces Bill To Allot $20M Toward Regime Change in Venezuela

(All those Young Republican protesters and corrupt opposition parties need to get paid. Color revolutions aren’t cheap baby.)

from Mint Press News

This week’s bipartisan Venezuela Humanitarian Assistance and Defense of Democratic Governance Act not only seeks to pump US$10 million to Venezuela as part of a “humanitarian assistance” package but also looks to provide millions to efforts to undermine the government of President Nicolas Maduro.

The bill also allots an additional US$10 million for ‘democracy promotion,’ including “US$500,000 to carry out the activities … with the Organization of American States to ensure credible international observation that contributes to free, fair, and transparent democratic electoral processes in Venezuela” and “US$9,500,000 to carry out the activities … directly, or through nongovernmental organizations to defend internationally recognized human rights … support the efforts of independent media outlets … facilitate open and uncensored access to the Internet … and to combat corruption.”

As part of the 11 section plan, the legislation aims to support the move by the head of the Organization of American States, OAS, Luis Almagro, to invoke the “Democratic Charter” against the country. The bill states that Maduro’s government and Venezuela’s Supreme Tribunal of Justice have “carried out systematic efforts to undermine, block, and circumvent the authorities and responsibilities of the Venezuelan National Assembly as mandated by the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”…

‘This Fight Is Ours’: Venezuela Women March Against Imperialism

from TeleSur

“We have always been part of the revolution for freedom, and we will continue to be,” said one march participant.

Hundreds of Venezuelan women on Thursday marched against imperialist attempts to destabilize Venezuela, demanding respect for their country’s sovereignty.

The marches, concentrated in Caracas’ Plaza Bolivar, were held a day after the socialist country announced that it will pull out of the Organization of American States, OAS. The decision went public after the OAS Permanent Council approved a convening of foreign ministers to discuss Venezuela, without the country’s consent. There were 19 votes in favor of holding the meeting, 10 against, one abstention and one absence.

The women-led street demonstrations in Caracas projected a unified stance against OAS interference and U.S. intervention. It was the latest move by supporters of the democratically-elected government of President Nicolas Maduro to speak out against foreign interference. ..

Obama’s Next Neoliberal Regime Change: Venezuela president declares emergency, cites U.S., domestic ‘threats’

from Reuters

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro declared a 60-day state of emergency on Friday due to what he called plots from within the OPEC country and the United States to topple his leftist government.

Maduro did not provide details of the measure. A previous state of emergency, implemented in states near the Colombian border last year, suspended constitutional guarantees in those areas, except for guarantees relating to human rights.

Earlier on Friday, U.S. intelligence officials told reporters they were increasingly worried about the potential for an economic and political meltdown in Venezuela and predicted Maduro was not likely to complete his term.

Venezuela’s opposition is seeking to recall the unpopular leader, 53, amid a worsening crisis that includes food and medicine shortages, frequent power cuts, sporadic looting and galloping inflation.

But the former union leader and bus driver has vowed to stick out his term, and accuses the United States of fomenting an undercover coup against him. He pointed to this week’s impeachment of fellow leftist Dilma Rousseff in Brazil as a sign that he is next.

“Washington is activating measures at the request of Venezuela’s fascist right, who are emboldened by the coup in Brazil,” Maduro said during a Friday night broadcast on state television.

New “Chlorine Gas Barrel Bomb” Propaganda Video Custom Made for Obama’s New “Red Line” in Syria – Kurdistan Waits in Wings

by Scott Creighton (H/T Nancy)

UPDATE: Go over to carinaragno’s website to read about how three U.S. servicemen were recently photographed in Kobani helping Kurdish separatists fighting against the Syrian government for their new Kurdistan homeland.

———-

Obama and folks like Rand Paul, are trying to take the northern half of Syria and give it to the pro-Western Kurds as part of their new Kurdistan. We can’t let them do it.

Two weeks ago the United States rammed through a seemingly meaningless resolution in the UN Security Council which basically said the legitimate government in Syria that Obama is determined to oust from office had better not drop barrel bombs filled with chlorine gas on their own people or Barack will start bombing the people of that country like he did when they made up lies about Gaddafi and started a “no fly zone” over there.

It was the “new” red line for Obama. You might remember the “old” red line for Obama involved the use of chemical weapons and just as soon as that was tossed out there, the “moderate” terrorists run by the likes of John McCain staged a nice chemical weapons attack and the Obama administration and all of the MSM tried to frame Assad for it. They failed miserably and it was all forgotten and forgiven. We still fund the “moderate” terrorist friends of John McCain who used the chemical weapons.

Two days ago a video surfaced which claims to show victims of exactly the same kind of weapon that was defined as the “new red line” for Obama. What a coincidence.

US Proxy Terror War on Venezuela

by James Petras, NSNBC

Protest, dissent and terrorist wars are obviously very distinct forms of expressing opposition and bringing about change. The Obama-Kerry regime claim that the opposition in Venezuela is a “protest movement” a “peaceful, democratic opposition” expressing discontent with economic conditions and that the democratically elected Maduro Administration is an ‘authoritarian regime’ violently repressing dissent. Washington claims to play no part in the action of the opposition and that its pronouncements are directed at furthering democratic freedoms.

The overwhelming evidence speaks to the contrary. By every measure, the opposition has engaged in prolonged and extensive violent activity, including terrorist acts, assassinations, arson, destruction of public property, including the murder of military officials and civilian supporters of the government. Widely circulated photographs, even in media outlets backing Washington, show opposition activists throwing Molotov cocktails and building barricades for street warfare.

The Obama-Kerry Administration is in total denial of each and every violent act by the opposition; it unconditionally defends the opposition; it forcibly attacks and demonizes each and every effort by the Government to defend the rights of its citizens, uphold the Constitution and enforce law and order. The Obama-Kerry regime’s political intervention, its escalating rhetoric, is designed to incite the opposition to continue and intensify its violent activity to destablize the country..

Kerry’s vitriolic rhetoric is timed to coincide with the ebb of opposition activity. The purpose is to assure the opposition that Washington stands four-square with open terror warfare. The Obama regime’s propaganda, economic sanctions and channeling of financial and military resources is designed to buttress the declining fortunes of the terror campaign. Kerry- Obama sanctions and propaganda war complements the violent terrorist war internally.
