No. South Sudan is NOT a Regime Change Operation – It’s a Product Re-branding Program

by Scott Creighton

It bothers me a great deal when I read or hear misinformation spread by otherwise credible sources. These days it’s hard to figure out who has sold out and who hasn’t… as of yet. That’s why when I listened to the X22 Report yesterday I was a bit surprised to hear him infer that Obama had betrayed the government of South Sudan by making them sign a deal in order to ease the internal conflict in the country. X22 made a comparison between that arrangement and the Minsk II agreement in Ukraine which is ridiculous on it’s surface but more troubling is equating the illegitimate government of South Sudan to the rebels in eastern Ukraine.

As is often the case as of late, the United States has found itself in the unenviable position of having to remove various puppet leaders when things get too bad, or, more importantly, too visible on the international stage for them to continue to rule with an shred of legitimacy. It isn’t really about maintaining the illusion of legitimacy for our government’s client state in the nation as it is providing the indigenous population the pretext to “believe” that “change” is upon them.

I’ll give you a couple examples with the most notable being another case that was twisted by the so-called “alternative” gurus out there like “Tony Cartalucci” and Webster Tarpley and that is the example of the 2011 Egyptian revolution.

As Injustice Becomes Routine In al-Sisi’s Egypt, 183 Political Opponents Sentenced to Death

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry meets with then-Egyptian Minister of Defense General Abdul Fatah Khalil al-Sisi in Cairo November 3, 2013.

An Egyptian court on Monday ratified the order to execute 183 alleged members of the Muslim Brotherhood—confirming the third mass death sentence issued under the rule of U.S.-backed President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Monday’s ruling rubber-stamps an earlier decision, made in December by a judge in Giza, to issue death sentences to 188 people, allegedly affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, on unsubstantiated charges relating to an attack on a police station in the Giza town of Kerdasa in August 2013 that led to the killing of 11 officers.

The incident occurred the same day as the Rabaa massacre, in which an attack by Egyptian security forces on a camp protesting the ouster of former Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi led to the killing of at least 817 people, and likely more than 1,000, according to the estimates of Human Rights Watch. Not a single security officer or high-ranking Egyptian official has been held accountable for those killings.

“Cartalucci” is at it Again: Praising the Despotic Junta in Thailand and Blaming the Left for the Recent Gladio Op

by Scott Creighton (H/T tommyknocker1)

“Thaksin’s regime is going. It is a cancer, you can choose to pray and wave the banner of democracy like children, we’ll choose to cut it out.” Tony Cartalucci

” the empty dream of international democracy” “Tony Cartalucci”

“the circus that is modern “democracy.” ” “Tony Cartalucci”

In Thailand, the illegal junta that came to power last May is doing everything they can to make sure they remain in power in perpetuity.

To that end,  the junta, officially called the “National Council for Peace and Order”, seek to impeach the former elected Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who has already been removed from office.

Impeachment will mean she can’t run for office for 5 years which will effectively ban the most popular political party from participation in the next round of “elections” which the junta claims wont take place til 2016 or so.

The people of Thailand understand that ploy and are understandably upset by it. So, with the expectation of large protests on the horizon, protests that have been made illegal under the rule of the current despots, the Thai junta announced recently that they would be cracking down on all of them and banning media coverage of any events that unfold.

To justify those actions, it appears the military thugs have staged a couple “terrorist” acts which will provide ample pretext for the coming repression of the political majority that has won every election in Thailand since 2001. So don’t be caught blogging any pertinent questions regarding who committed these acts of terrorism. Doing so will get you brought before Big Brother, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, head of the Thai military junta, for some “reeducation”

As he (they) have done in the past, “Tony Cartalucci” is busy white-washing the actions of the illegal junta and blaming the leftist for the Operation Gladio styled acts which have recently took place. As usual when it comes to military juntas across the globe, “Tony’s” evidence is spurious at best and doesn’t hold up to the slightest investigation.

Tarpley and “Cartalucci”… Meet al-Sisi’s New Economic Adviser, Tony Blair

by Scott Creighton

For quite sometime, Webster Tarpley along with the hearts and minds psyop called “Tony Cartalucci”, have been steadily praising the virtues of one Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the neoliberal Obama administration’s latest client regime in Egypt.

Despite the fact that he rose to power only after meeting with U.S. state department and then did so with the same sort of brutal “protesters” we saw in places like Syria, Libya and most recently in Ukraine and Thailand, Mr. Tarpley and “Cartalucci” both continued to present al-Sisi as some sort of counter-IMF, anti-U.S. hero doing the work of the masses. It has long been obvious that nothing could be further from the truth.

They continued supporting Sisi after he sucked-up to Israel, the U.S. war department and Saudi Arabia. Tarpley and “Cartalucci” continued supporting him (often writing screeds calling out the thousands of alternative journalists who could see al-Sisi for the Mubarak-styled monster he was) even after he slaughtered over 2,500 to gain power and then jailed 20,000 others to keep it prior to his sham “election”

Today news has come out from several sources that Tony Blair is going to be al-Sisi’s new economic adviser, telling him how and where Egypt should invest and helping bring all those lucrative multinational trade deals to impose on the people of Egypt along the way.

Is there a mea-culpa expected in the near future for the Sisi twins? Don’t count on it. Shills don’t do take-backs. They aren’t allowed.

Hagel Demands Fake Elections in Thailand NOW! (not return of elected government)

by Scott Creighton

The fascist neoliberal state of the “Shining City on the Hill” loves fake elections. Loves ’em. Real elections suck. They learned that lesson in Chile and Palestine… and Egypt and Thailand and Russia…

Fake elections provide the outward appearance of “democracy” if you don’t look too close, while simultaneously providing that all too important “stability” our “national interests” demand.

Take for example the recent ‘election” in the Ukraine which was brought about after a violent coup of U.S. state department backed neo-Nazis.

Take for example the recent “election” in Egypt, brought about by an even more brutal and violent military junta, backed by the state departments as well.

Does anyone here remember the one candidate “election” held in Yemen after popular uprising force our puppet dictator out of office? U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton congratulated the people of Yemen “on today’s successful presidential election

Heck, we threw a couple fake elections over on this side of the pond, right here in our own “homeland” not that long ago. 2000? 2004? Help America Vote Act? Diebold? Supreme Court? Fake protesters in Florida? Ring any bells?

And just look at all that “freedom” those fake elections brought us.

Well today, our glorious leaders are calling for snap “elections” in Thailand in order to bring about a “return to democracy”

Now, notice, they aren’t telling the illegal junta to step down and return the country to the hands of the previous ELECTED government. Oh no. That won’t do.

What kind of ass-backwards regime change would that be?

Thailand’s military coup

UPDATE: As expected, “Tony Cartalucci” (not his real name) is supporting this illegal, Obama-backed  and anti-democratic military coup 100%. Like so many disinfo peddlers of the past (and current ones as well) he does so by making ridiculous comparisons between Thaksin Shinawatra and Hitler. “Putin is Hilter”, “Saddam is Hitler”, “Assad is Hitler”, “Gadhafi is Hitler”, “Morsi is Hitler” … and now, “Tony Cartalucci” offers up “Thaksin is Hitler”.  See a pattern?

——————

by Peter Symonds, WSWS

Thailand’s military yesterday carried out a coup in all but name. In the early hours of the morning, as troops were fanning out across Bangkok, army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha declared martial law throughout the country and took control of the country’s entire security apparatus, including the police.

The military absurdly declared that its actions were “not a coup” and were only taken to “preserve law and order” after six months of acute political crisis in Bangkok. The military chiefs did not consult the government, disbanded its top security committee, took over TV stations and assumed sweeping powers of censorship, arrest, search, and to ban public gatherings.

Asked about the status of the government, General Prayuth joked to reporters: “And where is this government?” Key sections of the military top brass, like the courts, state bureaucracy and monarchy, have been sympathetic to the anti-government protests organised by the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) and opposition Democrat Party, and their demand for the ouster of the elected Pheu Thai government.

The government itself is in caretaker mode, with limited powers, following a court ruling in February that annulled the results of a February election, which Pheu Thai clearly won. On May 7, the Constitutional Court carried out what amounted to a judicial coup, removing Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and nine cabinet ministers on the basis of a trumped-up charge of abuse of power. The government faces further challenges from the Senate and the courts that could bring it down, if the military does not directly assume power first.

The Obama administration is backing the coup, just as it tacitly supported the removal of Yingluck. US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki insisted the army’s actions were not a coup and that martial law “is allowed for in the Thai constitution.” In fact, General Prayuth justified his actions, not on the basis of the 2007 constitution drafted by the military, but by reference to an obscure century-old law from the time of Thailand’s absolute monarchy.

The military clearly worked out its plans in consultation with Washington. US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia Daniel Russel was in Bangkok last month to meet with “a range of leaders and stakeholders” over the country’s political crisis. The Obama administration regards Thailand, especially the country’s military, as an important component of its “pivot to Asia” aimed at subordinating and militarily encircling China. The Pentagon is boosting its collaboration with the Thai military and is seeking access to Thai air bases, which were used in the 1960s for saturation US bombing during the Vietnam War.

Ukraine’s Brown Revolution: Brought to you by your friends at the IMF

by Scott Creighton

Just a couple of quotes from recent articles to put all of this Ukrainian “democracy” into perspective for you.

  • Among the reasons Mr. Yanukovych turned away from signing political and trade accords with Europe in November was his unwillingness to carry out austerity measures and other reforms that the International Monetary Fund had demanded in exchange for a large assistance packageNew York Times
  • A $15 billion bailout package secured by Mr. Yanukovych from Russia in December has been suspended, and Ukraine is now hurtling toward default. New York Times
  • Arseniy P. Yatsenyuk, the leader in Parliament of the Fatherland Party and a leading contender to serve as acting prime minister, pleaded with colleagues to swiftly reach an agreement on the designation of an interim government, which is needed to formally request emergency economic assistance from the International Monetary Fund. New York Times
  • The International Monetary Fund has made clear that it will demand austerity measures and other long-stalled economic changes in exchange for any assistance package. New York Times

As I have written in the past, the color revolution currently unfolding in Thailand was also brought to you by your friends at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as was the illegal Washington backed coup in Egypt.
