Tempest in a Teapot: The Story of Neoliberal Kristen McQueary and Longing for a Katrina in Chicago

by Scott Creighton

Sometimes the neoliberal apologists for the neoliberal Free-Marketeers go too far.

Sometimes their editors have to erase the little peek they give us inside the minds of the sociopaths who make up the Milton Friedman True Believer class.

Sometimes they have to write unapologetic apologies when civil society reacts with horror at the shear selfishness and cruelty these Ayn Randians harbor deep down inside.

“Envy isn’t a rational response to the upcoming 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

But with Aug. 29 fast approaching and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu making media rounds, including at the Tribune Editorial Board, I find myself wishing for a storm in Chicago — an unpredictable, haughty, devastating swirl of fury. A dramatic levee break. Geysers bursting through manhole covers. A sleeping city, forced onto the rooftops.

That’s what it took to hit the reset button in New Orleans. Chaos. Tragedy. Heartbreak

An underperforming public school system saw a complete makeover. A new schools chief, Paul Vallas, designed a school system with the flexibility of an entrepreneur (privatized). No restrictive mandates from the city (deregulated) or the state. No demands from teacher unions to abide (no labor protections). Instead, he created the nation’s first free-market education system

That’s why I find myself praying for a real storm. That’s why I can relate, metaphorically, to the residents of New Orleans climbing onto their rooftops and begging for help and waving their arms and lurching toward rescue helicopters” original version of Kristen McQueary’s libertarian/neoliberal screed

not so cute sometimes I guess

That’s what happened when cute little libertarian Kristen McQueary penned her latest OpEd for the Chicago Tribune in which she pined away wishing for a Hurricane Katrina to come to Chicago and wash away all that liberal excess so the neoliberal economic hit-men could remake the city into Galt’s Gulch like they did in New Orleans.

It’s called “disaster capitalism” and in the case of New Orleans, it only cost about 1,800 lives and countless people being made homeless. That’s to say nothing of the corrupt, fascist, privatized public education system (the kind promoted by Rahm Emanuel, Jeb Bush and Ron Paul alike) they installed in the wake of the storm which has cost countless futures for countless kids of the poor and working classes of that once great city.

Just for shits and giggles, you guys do understand that the father of modern day charter school ideology was Augusto Pinochet under his Milton Friedman inspired dictatorship, right?

Capt. Kearns: Jason Bourne or Raymond Shaw? Project Artichoke Goes Live

by Scott Creighton

TruthOut has published an article this morning about Dr. John Bruce Jessen, the CIA contracted psychologist who became one of the architects of the government’s torture program, and how he turned his work with the SERE program, a program designed to help soldiers deal with the pressures of torture, into a “how to” guide for “exploiting” War on Terror detainees for the CIA and department of defense.

The article includes hand-written notes from Dr. Jessen taken during his time working on the SERE program and provided by retired Air Force Capt. Michael Kearns to TruthOut writers Jason Leopold and Jeffrey Kaye.  Though the notes themselves do not deal with torture, they do detail key aspects of what would later become our “enhanced interrogation” program.

This article is going to get a lot of attention today and over the course of the next week or so I suppose, but I will tell you now, something doesn’t add up.  This smells rotten to the core. And if you watch Capt. Kearns between his staged, rehearsed, getting ready for the political career answers, you will see something in this man’s eyes that I think exposes his truer nature, a nature born of a lifetime in service to the spook industry and the CIA specifically.

This man is crazy and he just may the CIA’s next Manchurian candidate.

Economic Hit-men and the Neoliberalization of America

by Scott Creighton

In a continuation of the interview which I posted late last night, Rachel Maddow has on Naomi Klein to talk about the process of disaster capitalism being implemented in Wisconsin and Michigan and all through-out the United States. This is primarily what this website has been about since it’s creation nearly 4 years ago.

The process is the exact same one that the World Bank and the IMF and their “economic hit-men” have been using on other nations all across the globe over the past 30-40 years now, starting really with Chile on Sept. 11th, 1973 when they overthrew the elected president in a bloody coup and installed the Milton Friedman economic model of Chicago School Economics… ie neoliberalism.

Naomi accurately explains that this is an ideology, and anti-democratic ideology where the people “elected” to positions in our government actually hate our system of government and are currently working their hardest to destroy it from within so that they can consolidate power and hand over public held assets to cronys and favored corporations. It’s called fascism folks, “neoliberalism’ is just a kinder/gentler word for its rebranding. These people, neocons, New Dems, Libertarians, they hate “big government”, look to privatize everything, they hate regulations, and the specifically hate public education so that they can keep the majority of the people ignorant and servile and generate immense profits from the privatization of what little education they intend to keep.

Wrong Matt Taibbi. Wrong Cenk Uygur: They Aren’t Prosecuting the Banksters Because the Banksters Were Doing What They Were Told To Do

by Scott Creighton

Cenk Uygur interviews Matt Taibbi about his new article in Rolling Stone magazine which looks at how few (one) of these criminal bankers and financial CEOs have been prosecuted for their blatant criminality over the past 12 years or so. In the end, Taibbi finally suggests that the reason no one got prosecuted as they should have was because of  the “revolving door” in Washington regulatory circles. Bullshit.

Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.. (and for that international flair…) bullshito

The revolving door, where people leave regulatory positions to go to work for the people and the institutions they failed to regulate, is a PERK… it is not the problem itself.  It certainly should be against the law, but the revolving door as the answer to what happened is a sickening oversimplification of the situation and it fails to bring the larger problem to light.

These people were doing what they were told to do.

Former Clinton Official Says The Plan is to Create a “New Haiti”

by Scott Creighton

The truth is out there but you won’t find it on Fox or MSNBC. The corporate media is busily conveying the Washington Consensus talking point that looting and violence in Haiti demands the Obama administration put military “boots on the ground”. But if you take a little time, if you really listen to what Obama and Hillary are saying, then you start to see that this is becoming another blatant example of disaster capitalism at it’s worst.

The plan is to create a “new Haiti” out of the ashes of the old one. A new Haiti that will open up its markets for U.S. corporations, privatize all remaining public services, and allow for the long-term deployment of U.S. troops who will be used to pacify the general population. In remarkably candid language a former Clinton administration official also suggests a correlation between the final civilian death toll in Haiti and the size of the U.S. aid package to be allocated for reconstruction.

In an interview published on the Council on Foreign Relations website, Mark L. Schneider makes it very clear; like Condi Rice’s “new Middle East” before them, the plan this administration is adopting is to create a “new Haiti”.

“Democratization of Assets” in the Shadow of Disaster – Obama’s Unmistakable Globalist Message to the People of Haiti

by Scott Creighton

Obama's Unmistakable Globalist Message to Haiti

Since the dust has cleared a bit and the people of Haiti are beginning to recover from the initial shock of the earthquake, the globalist jackals and free-market zealots are circling the camp.

The smell of blood is in the air so the natural reaction for the Wall Street Tonton Macoutes is to leap into the fray with platitudes and platoons; to use your sympathies, your donations, and your soldiers to inflict their special brand of structured “reforms” on a people who have been resisting them for decades.

Under the guise of bringing “relief” to the suffering people of Haiti, the globalists have mobilized their PR firms and politicians to pounce upon the chaotic mess that was once a proud nation. President Obama, in true neoliberal form, has appointed two obviously corrupt representatives with outrageous previous histories in Haiti to help the American robber baron class pave the way for a new opportunities in Haiti for the usual cast of globalist free-marketeers, the IMF and World Bank.

Jan. 2010, W. Post – Even as rescuers are digging victims out of the rubble in Haiti, policymakers in Washington and around the world are grappling with how a destitute, corrupt and now devastated country might be transformed into a self-sustaining nation.

… And those who will help oversee it are thinking hard about how to use that money and attention to change the country foreverWashington Post

Yes they Can.

The men President Obama has put in charge of our relief programs are thinking about how they can use this opportunity (and the money you donate out of the goodness of your heart) to change Haiti forever. In fact, they have been thinking about it,  plotting and planning about it, and running coups and protecting murders about it, for decades now. Turns out all they needed was a natural disaster and a fake democrat with a peace prize to provide sufficient “progressive” cover for the neoliberal Shock Therapy reforms that are bound to be already underway.  Talk about adding insult to injury.

Obama’a message to the suffering people of Haiti could not be clearer and it could not be farther from the truth. We do not “stand united” behind the globalist agenda they have planned for Haiti.

Our Special Brand of “Democracy” in Iraq

by Scott Creighton

499 potential candidates have been striken from the ballots for the upcoming March 7th “elections” in Iraq. Why? Because they were alledged to have ties to the now defunct and illegal Baath Party. You see, the Baath Party was primarily a socialist political organization and having them around in positions of power wouldn’t be helpful to those who intended to impose a vast neoliberal restructuring of the Iraqi economy in the wake of our illegal invasion and occupation. So basically, they made being a “socialist’ illegal in Iraq and they are removing certain candidates from the election rolls who’s fiscal ideology isn’t in line with that of the neoliberal globalists here in America.

Come March 7th, the people of Iraq will be allowed to chose between one corrupt neoliberal globalist politician or the other corrupt neoliberal globalist politician. Kinda like the choice given to the people of Honduras after the illegal coup got their populist president out of the way (supported by the Obama administration in at least 10 clear ways)and kinda like the choice we had here in America back in November of 2008.
