Obama Orders Airstrikes to Defend ISIS in Syria

by Steve Lendman

Previous articles explained what Western officials and media scoundrels suppress. ISIS or ISIL or IS are US recruited, trained, armed, funded and directed Pentagon proxy foot soldiers doing Obama’s dirty work – to destabilize and/or topple governments where they’re deployed.Using them is part of Washington’s imperial strategy for unchallenged global dominance. They’re likely to show up almost anywhere. Mass slaughter, destruction, brutal atrocities and human misery follow – notably in Syria and Iraq.

On August 2, the Wall Street Journal headlined “US to Defend New Syria Force From Assad Regime.” The so-called “new” force is the old one. They’re not Syrian rebels or others supporting the rights of its people.

They’re US enlisted death squads – cutthroat killers, trained in the art of committing the most brutal acts of murder, torture and other atrocities, including use of chemical and other illegal weapons.

The Journal said Obama “authorized using air power to defend a new US-backed fighting force in Syria if it is attacked by Syrian government forces or other groups, raising the risk of the American military coming into direct conflict with the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.”

Washington Post Publishes an al Qaeda Linked Terrorist’s Op-Ed Providing Aid and Comfort to the Enemy on Behalf of the Pentagon

by Scott Creighton

Ahrar al-Sham, Islamist terror group in Syria, publishes Op-Eds on Washington Post

We have come full circle with 9/11 folks.

We “conspiracy theorists” may have seemed like “tin foil hat nutters” back in the day when we claimed that al Qaeda and it’s affiliated offshoots were really working for the establishment, but those days are long behind us as we enter the Brave New World where al Qaeda-linked terrorists can have their opinions published in one of the most establishment rags in the country: the Washington Post.

I seem to recall a law that was passed not that long ago which stated something to the tune of “any American citizen who provides aid and comfort to al Qaeda or an al Qaeda related group can be detained indefinitely, without trial, until the end of the conflict

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that bit of legislation can be found in the NDAA 2012.

(f) Extension to United States Citizens and Lawful Resident Aliens.–The authority of the Armed Forces of the United States to detain covered persons under this section extends to citizens of the United States and lawful resident aliens of the United States, except to the extent prohibited by the Constitution of the United States. source

Chris Hedges, Noam Chomsky and a number of other journalists filed suit against the Obama administration back in 2012 right after the NDAA legislation was signed into law. They won their preliminary case against the unconstitutional authority but were thwarted by the Second Court of Appeals and since the Supreme Court refused to hear their case, that last ruling still stands.

Hedges v. Obama[note 1][3][4] is a lawsuit filed January 13, 2012 against the Obama Administration and Members of the U.S. Congress[5] by a group including former New York Times reporter and current Truthdig columnist Christopher Hedges challenging the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 (NDAA)[6] which permits the U.S. government to indefinitely detain people “who are part of or substantially support Al Qaeda, the Taliban or associated forces engaged in hostilities against the United States”.[7]

Now, with that in mind, let’s have a look at the treason of the Washington Post while keeping in mind something else that happened just the other day in the Senate. There are no such things as coincidences in politics anymore.

Richard Engel 2012 Kidnapping was a Staged Fabrication According to Richard Engel

by Scott Creighton

Back in December of 2012, The “All Obama All the Time” network, NBC, staged a little fake news story designed to ramp-up hatred for the legitimate government in Syria in order to help President Obama’s push for military action in the country that had done nothing to us or their neighbors.

The storyline was simple: a popular foreign correspondent, Richard Engel, and 5 others were “taken hostage” by a group loyal to Bashar al-Assad and held hostage during the end of the first year of Obama’s attempted regime change operation.

They claimed after their dramatic, made for Hollywood “big shootout” rescue that they had been tortured and made to endure mock executions regularly during their 5 day captivity.

It was a big story for NBC as the “hostages” pleaded with the cameras from their confinement for the US and all other countries to do whatever it took to free them.

Of course, it was all a lie.

Who says so? Richard Engel and NBC news.

NBC News on Wednesday revised its account of the 2012 kidnapping of its chief foreign correspondent, Richard Engel, saying it was likely that Mr. Engel and his reporting team had been abducted by a Sunni militant group, not forces affiliated with the government of President Bashar al-Assad of Syria. New York Times

According to Richard Engel’s new accounting of what really happened during those 5 days, he was recently “shocked” to discover that his captors were really an FSA militia (the “moderates”) who Richard was there to glorify in the early days of the regime change operation. He went there to document the heroic “freedom fighters” in an attempt to garner support for them with the US population and what ended up happening was… they staged a kidnapping in order to make the Assad regime look sinister… thus ginning up even more support for the FSA terrorists working for the Obama administration.

West tries to use extremism for color revolutions in Russia — Federation Council speaker

from TASS News

The West uses political, ethnic and religious extremism as a geopolitical instrument, including for trying to organize “color revolutions” in Russia, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said on Wednesday.

“Extremism is used as a geopolitical instrument, for reshaping the spheres of influence, overthrowing regimes undesirable for some countries by the means of organizing ‘color revolutions’,” Matviyenko said. “The West makes attempts to organize them [‘color revolutions’] in Russia as well,” she added. These efforts are directed at “discrediting the authorities and destabilizing the situation in Russia, and using both extremist elements and opposition for that,” the speaker noted.

“The Russian government does not plan to embark on a course of ‘tightening screws’ and suppressing ‘dissent’,” Matviyenko stressed. “The authorities are ready for dialogue with the opposition, they will continue to develop partnership with the civil society. Such dialogue and such partnership are important,” she said. However, “it is useless to start discussions with those who works on orders from abroad, in the interests of a foreign country or foreign countries,” Matviyenko added.

How Do Barney Fife and Fidel Castro Factor Into the Biggest News Story of the Year?

by Scott Creighton

I wish to see if I can connect a few dots here, so bear with me.

Putting aside “ISIS™” for a moment and the “Big Story” about some talking head on MSNBC lying to folks (yeah, there’s some news for you) what are the biggest geopolitical trends in the news today? Is it the fact that Syriza, the new “Radical Left™” brand of 3rd Way centrist ideology (think “CHANGE™” circa 2008) seems to have forgotten what the term “odious debt” means?

In international law, odious debt, also known as illegitimate debt, is a legal theory that holds that the national debt incurred by a regime for purposes that do not serve the best interests of the nation, should not be enforceable. Such debts are, thus, considered by this doctrine to be personal debts of the regime that incurred them and not debts of the state. In some respects, the concept is analogous to the invalidity of contracts signed under coercion. Wiki

Is that the biggest story in the world today? Well, if you consider the fact that international debt has risen by 57 trillion dollars since the global economic terrorism of 2008, coupled with the fact that much if not ALL of that new additional debt may be declared odious were Greece to set the precedent, well, that could very well be the story of the year. The story of the decade or the millennium in fact.

But it isn’t, because they wont (“use us to implement the European programme” Varoufakis).

And the usually antagonistic ones, the Webster Tarpley’s of the “interwebs”, aren’t really calling for Syriza to live up to their campaign pledge and do that.

How about “ISIS™”? Now that the MTV music video director and their team made that “burning man” video, seems like all the world wants a piece of “ISIS™” butt.

We have senators and congressman lining up to get in front of anyone with a camera so they can pledge their undying devotion to autocratic, despotic regimes like those in Jordan, UAE, Bahrain and Qatar for the sole purpose of providing them weapons and training, all paid for with your tax dollars while they say they can’t afford to pay teachers here in the states.

No money for teachers or disabled folks but we got butt-loads of cash to heap on dictators from the Middle East to help bomb Syria into regime change. Funny how that works, ain’t it?

We have “progressive” TV personalities spending enormous amounts of their airtime proving what warmongering hawks they can be just like the neocons of yesteryear they pilloried for a decade.

We have the Obama administration, the President Peace Prize farce, presenting their own version, a hand-crafted document they expect to be passed without debate, authorizing war anywhere, anytime against anyone they say is supporting “ISIS™”. That new AUMF document, one usually crafted by congress, will be slapped on the desks of leading congressmen sometime today or tomorrow. It’s something this president has wanted since they created “ISIS™” now that the old one from 2001 is a bit sketchy considering the fact that it names al Qaeda as the enemy and we now call them “moderates” and are funding them in Syria.

And all of this is based on what? A ridiculous MTV-styled video custom made for the purpose of providing the pretext for what is happening right now and released on the very same day the King of Jordan was visiting Obama and congress looking for money to fight “ISIS™”. (I will write more about that video later this morning)

Are those the biggest stories in the world today?

No. Not in my opinion.

So what is? What is the one big story everyone knows about and no one is talking about and how does Barney Fife and Fidel Castro of all people fit into this? Have I gone crazy? Inquiring minds want to know.

The Kenji Goto Psyop Draws to a Close with Another Faked Video (images)

by Scott Creighton

Supporters of Kenji Goto gather outside the Japanese prime minister's Tokyo residence at a rally for the journalist, who is being held hostage by the Islamic State. (Reuters/Yuya Shino)

Notice… it’s in English like all those Pakistani signs when the attack on the military school took place over there?

The stereotypical influence-peddling social media marketing campaigns aside, the Kenji Goto psyop has run it’s course with the “humanitarian independent journalist” having been “beheaded” by ISIS™

(By “humanitarian independent journalist” what I mean too say is that Kenji had a history of running around to various regime change ops (Chechnya, Albania, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, among other places) telling the “humanitarian” version of events, which translates to “WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!!”.  As it just so happens, Kenji did a video in Oct. of last year, right before he was “taken”, in which he selflessly told everyone, in English mind you, that we shouldn’t blame the people of Syria were he to die during his noble efforts. ;) )

All that’s left is the obligatory “Je Suis Kenji” Twitter movement and the official destruction of Japan’s “peace constitution” to the sound of thunderous canned applause.

Syrian Gov’t, Opposition Agree on Four Key Points in Moscow Talks

from Sputnik International

Delegates from Syria’s government and opposition managed to reach consensus on four key points during talks in Moscow, the Deputy Secretary General of the Syrian National Youth Party told Sputnik Thursday.

The main points include the “activation and acceleration of delivery of humanitarian aid to all regions of Syria, without exception on the basis of a relevant UN resolution,” as well as “calls on the international community to alleviate and lift economic sanctions imposed against Syrian people,” Suheir Sarmini told Sputnik.

According to Sarmini, both sides reached consensus in condemning “acts of aggression by Israel towards Lebanon and Syria, calling on the international community to pressure Jerusalem with the aim of observance of the UN charter and implementation of international resolutions.”
