“But the intelligence was being FIXED AROUND THE POLICY” Downing Street Memo
The intellectual depravity that is our foreign policy these days was on display yesterday as State Department spokesman, John “big shoulder pads” Kirby, answered some questions relating to the evidence-challenged intel report on Russian hacking that was released on Friday (see video at end of this article)
Kirby said it would be “irresponsible” for the CIA or other intelligence agencies to provide actual facts regarding their inflammatory claims about Russia interfering with our elections. He went on to say previous lies about Iraq WMDs which led to the illegal invasion and occupation of that country aren’t “relevant” to today’s unsubstantiated claims about Russia.
Besides, according to Kirby, the American people don’t need and or want any actual evidence when it comes to our chicken-hawk politicians fanning the flames of World War with Russia. We would rather our intelligence industry protect their sources for future lies, rather than produce concrete evidence to back up their highly inflammatory and currently baseless claims.
“Look… nobody’s saying there weren’t “mistakes” made back in 2000, 2001… but that was what? 15 years ago?… I think to paint them with the same brush is highly unfair”
“Mistakes” Mr. Kirby?
Declassified Documents and Key Participants Show the Importance of Phony Intelligence in the Origins of the Iraq War – National Security Archive, George Washington University
This was a LIE not a mistake: “There’s not just one of those, there are MANY of those!” Donald Rumsfeld
This was a LIE, not a mistake, and there was not just ONE of those, there were MANY OF THOSE Mr. Kirby and I’m here to tell you, it is not irrelevant.
This “yellow cake from Niger” document was a FORGERY not a mistake:
This “Saddam’s mobile biological weapons lab” drawing was a COMPLETE FABRICATION, not a mistake:
The phony conclusions drawn from satellite imagery were LIES not mistakes:
The anthrax waved around at the UNSC meeting wasn’t Saddam’s and in fact the Iraqis couldn’t even have made it so that was a LIE not a mistake:
The anthrax attacks that took place weeks after 9/11 were immediately blamed on Saddam Hussain after a series of LIES about the origins of the anthrax and that was certainly not a mistake as the weaponized material came from our own stockpiles and not Iraq.
The connection between Saddam and al Qaeda was a total LIE not a mistake:
Check out the timeline of the LIES that led to the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq, a series of LIES, not mistakes, that led to the deaths of over a million Iraqis, the destruction of an entire nation and the deaths or injury of tens of thousands of US soldiers… all for nothing more than LIES.
- 08/11/2001 – The New York Times and Frontline report that an Iraqi general witnessed the Iraqi military training Arab fighters to hijack airplanes. Mother Jones later reports general to be bogus Chalabi plant. [Date the public knew: 3/1/06]
- 09/12/2001 – Cheney on Meet the Press: “Well, the evidence is pretty conclusive that the Iraqis have indeed harbored terrorists.” Also claims 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta met with Iraqi spy in Prague, a claim he’ll repeat long after CIA and Czechs disavow.
- 26/02/2002 – Former Ambassador Joseph Wilson sent to Niger to check out claims Iraq buying uranium-rich yellowcake. [Date the public knew: 7/6/03]
And then there was the Downing Street Memo which told us in no uncertain terms that the intelligence was being “fixed” to suit their aggressive ideology and no “mistakes” were needed:
“Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy. The NSC had no patience with the UN route, and no enthusiasm for publishing material on the Iraqi regime’ s record.” DSM
“Mistakes” Mr. Kirby? I don’t see any “mistakes” I see LIES and lots and lots of them.
I also see dead US soldiers and regular Americans who suffer everyday as a result of those lies, Mr. Kirby.
Over 5,000 US soldiers died as a result of those lies Mr. Kirby in an illegal war and occupation of the paper tiger that was Iraq. How many more scenes like the one above are possible as our “intelligence” agencies fix the facts around the New McCarthyism policy you seem to be in favor of?
Who wants to risk global war with these guys over more lies from the “intelligence” industry?
The only “mistake” I see here Mr. Kirby is the one made by those reporters who didn’t boo you from behind that podium and scream obscenities at you as you as you crawled back under the rock you came from.
Yes Mr. Kirby, those previous lies are relevant and yes, the American people DEMAND proof from the war industry and those who clandestinely support it before they offer up their most precious assets, their loved ones, to your policy agenda.
Fool us once Mr. Kirby…
