As the Trump presidency takes shape, many so-called “leftists” out there are making quite the name for themselves by suddenly screeching about how fascist this country will be under his new administration. This is to some degree an understandable concern because, as I have written in the past, Donald Trump’s neoliberal economic ideology is the fiscal side of fascism. The New World Order all of the previous presidents since Reagan have supported, is basically corporatist neoliberal globalization brought about by ultra-aggressive imperialism, or fascism for short.
The fascist hates the notion of liberal democracy. Can’t stand it. Calls it “the tyranny of the majority”. How many times have you seen the social media meme that describes democracy as two wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for dinner? For that matter, how many times have you heard someone recently saying the left can’t believe what is happened because they can’t understand how we real liberals didn’t vote against our own interests? Of course people should vote in their own interests and have always been expected to do so. That’s why this country isn’t a pure direct democracy, it’s a republic, where we vote for representatives who are expected to carry out our interests… until of course they sell us out… just as the oligarchs who owned the founding fathers intended.
But if democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on the lunch menu, fascism is the sheep, owned by a hunter and protected by lions deciding via decree who’s head ends up on a plague on the hunter’s wall. That’s the tyranny of the minority and in that case, the strong do not always prevail. Survival of the fittest does not factor in.
With democracy it is typically the fittest idea that prevails, or at least the most popular one at the time to the society. The one the majority of the population agrees with.
With fascism, it’s the idea with the strongest vested interests.
In both cases self-interests are being served.
In one case, it’s (to quote a cheesy movie) “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few”
In the other it’s the direct opposite.
That is the lesson that is continually being missed by the hand-wringers and teeth gnashers of the unDemocratic Party today. Unlike some out there who seem to think this is a failing or a mistake by the party, I do not believe that is the case.
Hillary Clinton and her team did not “fail to understand” the mood of the electorate. Quite the contrary. They certainly understood it after Bernie Sanders defeated her in the primary contest and during the primaries when his message to the people was drawing tens of thousands to his rallies while hers was lucky to draw a couple hundred. No one could miss that. No one could “mistakenly” forget to address it and in fact, she tried to “lean left” to the populist messages of the Sanders supporters but when she did, it was hollow and without conviction coming from her mouth. They did not believe her because she did not believe her.
And that is because Hillary Clinton is a fascist. So is her husband. So is President Obama. So is Nancy Pelosi. So is Debbie Wasser-man Schultz. So is Chuck Schumer. For that matter, so are the talking heads on CNN and MSNBC and the “journalists” at the New York Times and the Washington Post who did their level best to make this previous election about anything other than what it was really about… a wholesale rejection of corporatist neoliberal globalization brought about by ultra-aggressive imperialism or fascism for short.
They tried to protect a known fascist with the armor of identity politics in order to present her as the “lesser of two evils” and they failed.
Why did they fail? Why did so many women vote supposedly “against their own interests” for Donald Trump? Why did so many Latinos? Why did so many black people? The answers to that question are a dime a dozen right now but I will tell you the single truth that the MSM will not. The truth the corporatist media and the heads of BOTH sides of the ONE PARTY SYSTEM will not:
They didn’t vote against their own interests. They voted against corporatist neoliberal globalization brought about by ultra-aggressive imperialism… fascism.
Since WWII it has been difficult to get a good understanding of what fascism really is in this country and there is a very good reason for that. They don’t want us to know what fascism is, what our grandparents fought against, because… they want to bring it here.
Billed as the Great War or the war of the Greatest Generation, WWII in this country is rarely depicted for what it was: the Great Fascist War. Our leaders decided to keep us out of it for as long as possible and we are told that was because the people had no stomach for it. I was taught that in school. But that is a lie. Huge corporations like Ford and Standard Oil and big banking interests overseen by “Nazi bankers” like Prescott Bush (and George H. W. Bush’s namesake, George Herbert Walker) had major financial interests in the fascist regime from Germany. Hitler was TIME’s Man of the Year, twice. As Hilter was rising to power via the backing of US financial elites, those same elites tried to stage a fascist takeover here in this country called the Business Plot in 1934.
Though they picked the wrong leader for that treasonous coup, fascism at that time in the US was the unspoken political darling of the masters of the universe so they encouraged a ‘wait and see” approach to the events of the European War and they had their Mockingbirds in the media do their level best to influence public opinion to that end.
It was the Soviet Union that won WWII, not the US. They turned the tide and repelled the Nazis from their soil and surged through eastern Europe on route to Berlin and it was only then that we decided we had to get in “on the winning team” and come in for the big score.
But fascism was still our darling so we set up little terrorist cells under the Gladio program to stay behind and do their best to keep European countries from moving “too far” to the left.
We didn’t punish the fascist business leaders and their servants for doing business with the enemy… we let their offspring rise to power and lead the nation as they continued to pursue their vision of a New World Order.
Offspring, by the way, who reportedly voted for the unDemocratic Party’s nominee earlier this month.
Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama… they are all fascists to one degree or another. Some get away with more, some less. But they all serve the ONE PARTY SYSTEM the BUSINESS PARTY as if their lives and their careers after they leave office depended on it. Because they do. Just ask JFK, Nixon and Carter about that.
Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete, and they regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties. Such a state is led by a strong leader—such as a dictator and a martial government composed of the members of the governing fascist party—to forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society.
Do you understand the significance when someone says “Hillary failed by trying to pull the party to the right, into the center”? Do you understand when they say she is nothing more than a republican in progressive clothing?
Donald Trump will not usher in fascism over the next 4 years because every president since Reagan has already done that including the great President of the Peace Prize, Barack Obama. Like Obama, Trump was voted into office in order to steer the country AWAY from corporatist neoliberal globalization brought about by ultra-aggressive imperialism. And unfortunately, like Obama, he will do the exact opposite, using his anti-establishment cover to hasten the transition to the very New World Order democracy sought to dismantle.
In recent news there have been some very telling incidents which lay bare our developing desperate state. In order to show them in the proper light, I have to refer to three defining characteristics of fascism as described by Dr. Lawrence Britt in his scholarly examination of the ideology based on fascist states of the past (Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes) all of which were either created or supported by our masters of the universe and the various politicians who served them.
These are three of Dr. Britt’s Fourteen Defining Characteristics of Fascism. We can certainly cite numerous examples of how the other 12 are applicable to the “new normal” of our daily lives. But these stand out to me to be the most troubling and in some ways, the most insidiously normalized already.
1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism – Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays…
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause – The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.
4. Supremacy of the Military – Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.
Let’s take these one at a time:
Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
These days, you cannot see a politician give a speech or do an interview in this country without a flag over his right shoulder or twenty of them lined up behind him. That is true of politicians on the left and the right of the fake political divide of the ONE PARTY SYSTEM, the BUSINESS PARTY here in America.
Hillary stands in front of a row of American flags while Donald Trump literally walks up to one and hugs and kisses it in the most disturbingly awkward manner imaginable.
At the start of every sporting event, the ritual of the rolling out of the American flag in some massive, oversized proportion is obligatory. You have to stand and place your hand over your heart or you’re a dirty commie and should be shunned.
Kneeling during the singing of national anthem is forbidden and if it done in spite of our cultural norms, it is reviled by civil society as a disrespect for “the troops”. One such action was taken recently down here in Tampa, home of the Global War OF Terror, MacDill Air Force base and the offending football player had to apologize and promise to never do it again.
Yesterday, while watching the start of a football game on TV, a commentator had to apologize for daring to speak over someone singing God Bless America at the start of the game. Commercial interests had to be served as he prompted the switch to an ad for beer or something, but he dutifully apologized for daring to speak while someone somewhere was thanking God for the goodness of our country.
Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
“Radical Islam” is also a fan favorite as are Muslims in general.
Which leads us to “scapegoats”
There are all sorts of scapegoats being bandied about these days. Muslims, ebil SooOooOocialists, the Commies of the New McCarthyism, the “alt right”, the KKK (FBI or ADL versions), the “deplorables”, the “conspiracy theorists”, the peddlers of “fake news”, the “takers”, the “welfare queens”… the list goes on and on.
In terms of the unDemocratic Party’s failed presidential bid, the BernieBots and their “let the perfect be the enemy of the good” ideology stands out to me. The real left, in other words. They are the scapegoats. The people who refuse to get on board and make the ideological “compromises” that our glorious leaders have to make “for the greater good”. These are the universal scapegoats.
And as such, history teaches us, they will be the first targeted. It was true in Italy. It was true in fascist Nazi Germany. It was true in Pinochet’s Chile in ’73 and the Shah’s Iran in ’53. It was true in Indonesia as Obama’s mother served the service that acquired the intel to hand over the CIA’s teams just as it is true in Obama’s resurgence in Iraq.
Supremacy of the Military – Soldiers and military service are glamorized
– During the general election, Hillary Clinton’s team hired the father and mother of a fallen soldier in Iraq who just happened to be Muslim to come out on stage and verbally assault her rival, Donald Trump. His response to them was understandable and predictable and it is exactly what the Clinton team anticipated.
He was attacked by the Mockingbirds in the media (who turned out to be either on her payroll or at least in cahoots with her campaign staff) for not showing due respect for the Gold Star families of fallen service men and women.
No one on the left gave a hoot about insulting Gold Star mothers back in 2004 and 2005 when Cindy Sheehan was protesting George W. Bush’s war of aggression that took her son from her. That’s because Hillary’s Gold Star parents fully support the Global War OF Terrorism. Sheehan had a thing or two too say about that. (disclosure: the first live interview I ever did was with Cindy on her show)
– Recently a family was flying somewhere to bury their son who died in Afghanistan. They were flying first class and had to exit the plane quickly so they could make a connecting flight. The captain on the flight announced that the people would be de-boarding the flight but first they had to remain seated so a “a special military family” could leave the plane first.
Understandably, the elites in the first class section were annoyed at the prospect and let their unhappiness be vocalized. The elites in the first class sections of planes don’t typically share their lodgings with the kinds of families that have to sacrifice their children so the elites can be elites. And they certainly don’t internalize the same propaganda those in the coach section gobble up like popcorn at a movie. So, yeah, they booed.
The family was incensed. How dare someone boo them for getting special treatment because their son parishes in one of our overseas incursions? The fake-left Huffington Post is still waiting on an explanation and requisite tribute to be paid to the slightly embarrassed but otherwise unscathed family members. I’m sure a million or so dollars and free air travel for life are being offered as we speak.
– I remember (and I wrote about this once but forget where it is) when I was a free-lance draftsman and project manager (before I got sick) I was returning from Atlanta where I worked on a project at the “W” hotel downtown (it’s the bowl fountain on the glowing Onyx pedestal) and waiting at the airport for my flight. This noise started up and two guys in business suits came walking through the rotunda area of the commons clapping their hands and encouraging all the folks waiting along with me to do the same. Most did without hesitation as a group of enlistees were walked through the hall in single file carrying their little bags and dressed in fatigues. Two other PR guys rushed by them to get to the next area to get the tired travelers to applaud appropriately for the soldiers on their way to whatever conflict zone they were headed to while the first two continued to pump the crowd where I was. One of them eventually looked at me, standing there watching the whole thing and thinking of how bizarre the whole spectacle was and he raised his clapping hands higher in my face and looked at me as if too say “you better clap”. I just stared at him.
What made it bizarre wasn’t so much the people automatically falling in line and putting things in their hands down to do their duty. What made it bizarre was the awkward looks on the faces of the new recruits being ushered off like so much cattle and watching these PR dicks run around demanding praise from everyday people. It was fascinating really. It was like they were suddenly on the other side of some glass wall like a gold fish that flops outside its bowl, looking in and realizing the world wasn’t what he thought it was all along. I made eye contact with them as well. That’s how I showed them real respect, by making a genuine human connection and empathizing with what they were going through right then and there.
Of course, there is none of that in a fascist state.
– A TV network decided to hold an event called “Rock the Troops” in Hawaii where they supposedly brought in military service members and their families to see multi-millionaire celebrities put on a show in honor of them. A way to say ‘thanks for your service” is how it was billed. They sold tickets though and in the end, of the 45,000 folks allowed into the venue only about 4,500 of them were guests, family members of the troops. Military.com did a write-up on that. Spike is selling ad time right now in order to turn still more profit from the “appreciation show”
Corporations, militarism, fake patriotism, money… it’s all there. Plus a healthy dose of glamorized military service for the young people who can’t afford to go to college wondering what they are going to do with their lives after college.
The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, never served in the military. He went to college in Florida and played football for Miami. He wasn’t good enough to make it in the pros so he fell back on the career of his father and his grandfather, professional wrestling.
He took advantage of the leg up his family heritage gave him, then took a lot of steroids and a couple private acting lessons and became one of the highest paid actors this country has ever produced at a time when mega-stars make more money than they ever have for doing next to nothing other than being mega-stars.
Now he uses that fame to heap empty praise on “the troops” for going overseas and getting either physically or emotionally scared for life so his owners can make tons of money in newly opened markets across the world.
Movies, music videos, video games… the supremacy of the military and the glorification of service is more popular now than it ever was… and we aren’t really at war with anyone. “ISIS”? We are fighting them in Iraq supposedly so they don’t undo all of the business opportunities Hillary Clinton was praising back in 2011. Yemen? Libya? Pakistan? Syria? We aren’t at war with them. Who declared those wars? Russia? That’s a cold war and by definition, we don’t use soldiers to fight cold wars.
What do you think? What do the troops think?
But still Dwayne “Steroid” Johnson puts on a colorful outfit and runs on stage to promote the military families denied access to his gaggle of multi-millionaires who are thankful for their service keeping them insanely rich and “safe” from our enemies.
Donald Trump is already making moves to pack his cabinet with neoliberal globalists who will promote the interests of the ruling class at the detriment of those who voted him into office.
That is absolutely true. It is a fact that his supporters will be “Obamaed” just like the progressives were 8 years ago. I warned them then as I warn Trump supporters now.
But too say The Donald is going to BRING fascism to America is a ridiculous fantasy. Fascism is already here. Has been festering for some time and it’s culmination with projects like the TPP and the TTIP are considered inevitable by the ruling class and the phony politicians who serve their interests on both sides of the fake divide.
Yes Hillary Clinton dreams of a hemisphere with no borders and no barriers to trade and the precious markets. Obama was the poster-child for the neoliberal fascist “free trade” agreements that Hillary saw as the gold standard of globalization until it wasn’t cool anymore to admit it. Her public position had to supersede her private one, the one she shared with fascist bankers for a price.
Donald Trump isn’t going to bring the fake fair weather liberals anything new that their hero President Peace Prize and their champion Killary Clinton didn’t already bring them. And that’s a fact.
So stop it with that crap. You’re already a fascist nation and deep down… you know it.
If you wish to stop Trump you first have to understand what it is you are opposing. You want to keep him from building a wall? Let millions of cheap labor providers remain in the country for humanitarian reasons? That’s neoliberal globalization. They call it flexible workforces and it’s designed to benefit Big Business by wrecking unions and depressing wage structures. That’s comprehensive immigration reform was put forward by the reactionary neoliberal neocons of the Bush regime BEFORE it was adopted by Obama.
You wish to keep the Affordable Care Act as it becomes less and less affordable? Congrats, you back a neoliberal insurance industry created plan and it’s unconstitutional mandate that was first crafted by the Heritage Foundation and first implemented by the neoliberal Mitt Romney (who will be in Trump’s cabinet)
In order too know what you are fighting, you have to understand neoliberal economic ideology, fascism and the ONE PARTY SYSTEM we have in place today. These have to be the terms used in discourse. “Racist”, “misogynist”, “Islamaphobe”… these are empty weasel words without power. That’s why they are being fed to you by the leaders of the same party that offered up a globalist fascist in the first place. They are giving you guns loaded with blanks because they know you are angry and they don’t want you to know what it is you are really angry about.
It’s time to have THAT discussion. Everyday. Everywhere.
Please help keep AE up and running if you can.
Thank you all so much
