On the Day of Trump’s Victory, Obama FINALLY Decides to Target al-Qaeda in Syria

by Scott Creighton (H/T Moon of Alabama)

never-forget

Anyone remember al-Qaeda? Am I the only one? 9/11? Ring a bell? They said they hated us for our freedom? Steel melting, but didn’t melt? Two planes, three buildings? The Pentagon and the amazing disappearing debris? Cell phones magically working from 36k feet in 2001? Bringing back anything folks? Patriot Act? Project for a New American Century? “A new Pearl Harbor type event” written in 2000 by Bush’s neocons?

Anything coming back to you guys?

How about this one:

In American law, providing material support for terrorism is a crime prohibited by the USA PATRIOT Act and codified in title 18 of the United States Code, sections 2339A and 2339B. It applies primarily to groups designated as terrorists by the State Department.

Tarek Mehanna, convicted of providing “material support” to al-Qaida, for translating books and videos for website At Tibyan

Oh ok. There you go. Now you got it. We’re on the same page.

Now check this out (hat tip Moon of Alabama blog) You aren’t going to believe this…

“President Obama has ordered the Pentagon to find and kill the leaders of an al-Qaeda-linked group in Syria that the administration had largely ignored until now and that has been at the vanguard of the fight against the Syrian government, U.S. officials said.

The decision to deploy more drones and intelligence assets against the militant group formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra reflects Obama’s concern that it is turning parts of Syria into a new base of operations for al-Qaeda on Europe’s southern doorstep, the officials said.

The move underlines the extent to which Obama has come to prioritize the counterterrorism mission in Syria over efforts to pressure President Bashar al-Assad to step aside, as al-Nusra is among the most effective forces battling the Syrian government.” The Washington Post, Nov. 10, 2016 – 4:42pm eastern time

First of all, al-Nusra isn’t “affiliated” with al-Qaeda, they are al-Qaeda. They started out as “al-Qaeda in Syria” and then changed their name so that the Obama administration wouldn’t be criticized for not attacking al-Qaeda when they were supposed to.

Next, look at the timing. This was published the day after the day after. That means the MOMENT Obama realized Killary wouldn’t be in charge of the next administration, he GAVE THE ORDER TO WIPE OUT AL-QAEDA IN SYRIA.

THE FUCKING MOMENT HE FIGURED THAT OUT, AL-QAEDA HAD TO DIE.

Are you shitting me? Could ANYTHING be more obvious?

The article goes on:

Trump has said he will be even more aggressive in going after militants than Obama, a stance that could lead to the expansion of the campaign against al-Nusra, possibly in direct cooperation with Moscow. The group now calls itself Jabhat Fatah al-Sham — or Front for the Conquest of Syria — and says it has broken with al-Qaeda, an assertion discounted by U.S. officials.” The Washington Post, Nov. 10, 2016 – 4:42pm eastern time

The Washington Post has been steadily anti-Trump ever since Hillary ‘won’ the nomination. They have made up one lie after another about the man, so when they say in this article that Obama seems to have been motivated to do this because Trump planned to bomb al-Qaeda anyway, you know it’s not a pro-Trump paper writing that or a “conspiracy theorist” website. It’s the Washington Post.

Also of note: they admit the administration knows full well and has known full well that al-Nusra is STILL al-Qaeda.

Then there is this:

“The White House and State Department led the charge within the Obama administration for prioritizing action against the group. Pentagon leaders were reluctant at first to pull resources away from the fight against the Islamic State.” The Washington Post, Nov. 10, 2016 – 4:42pm eastern time

Pentagon leaders were reluctant at first to go after AL-QAEDA?!? Are y0u kidding me?

How about a little refresher course:

Do Pentagon leaders remember this?

Here’s why this is interesting.

Of course he had to pull the plug on his regime change terrorists the minute Trump was named the winner of the election. Yeah, Hillary would have continued the program. But under a Trump presidency, with a new head of the Defense Department and the CIA, they could not sit around and wait too see if Trump could be brought on board with the agenda. In fact, as the WP points out, he has said he is opposed to such operations.

So they are cleaning house. I wonder if that includes Yemen, Libya, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq and all the other places the CIA employs al-Qaeda mercs.

Is it a slaughter taking place right now across the Middle East? Are they rushing around to clean house before The Donald gets his tiny little hands on the red phone?

Looks that way doesn’t it?

Thanks MoA blog for the heads up. Fascinating stuff.

  1. But the Washington Post had some good news if this (or anything out of Washington) is true. TPP is dead.

  2. Maybe I’ve become too jaded, but why do I smell rat all over this…. https://www.yahoo.com/news/mexico-says-ready-modernize-nafta-trump-181527988.html
Might NAFTA be redrawn as a new TPP Trans-American partnership crawling incrementally global?

  3. Did not know that thanks Willy!
Will read the WaPo article completely.
But was it tied to election or just house cleaning?
    wonder?

  4. Perhaps Obama is doing what he always wanted to do but was afraid. But now when he sees that his handlers kind of lost (maybe?) he can do what he wanted to do in the first place. Why do you think in 2013 Obama deferred the red line (poison gas) issue to Congress? Because ehe the they will chicken out. He did not impose the no fly zone then. And it was Putin who helped him not to go and finish Syria off then. I think that a much more nuanced view of Obama on Middle East is warranted. There are much worse guys than him. And also there are good guys in Pentagon. Like gen. Dempsey (Hersh article) who kept line open with Assad via Berlin, Moscow and Tel Aviv and whose DIA sabotaged CIA’s weapon supplies to al Nusra as a gesture of good will to Assad.

    • possible. I think the chemical weapons red line fell through when alternative media outlets proved the chemical weapons that were used, were used by the “moderate” rebels. And I think the presence of Russian planes had more to do with no no-fly zone than Obama did, but I could be wrong there as well. Certainly there were generals who didn’t give a shit and wanted WWIII anyway, so you could be right.

    • It’s good to be optimistic. But if DIA is sabotaging CIA’s weapon supplies they’ve been doing a pretty piss poor job of it. Jesus, even where the they’ve got these al Nusra assholes surrounded they still seem to have an unlimited supply of TOWs and Captagon (or whatever they’re jacked up with). I have a hard time seeing Obama as a JFK-style good guy here.

      • It has nothing to do with being optimistic. I do not know Obama real motives but I do think that part of him wants to earn that Nobel Peace Prize as part of his legacy. He seems mostly to be a reluctant opportunist and very cunctatory. But he was the first president since Ike who on more than one occasion said no to Israel and survived it. He had it harder than Ike as the lobby was not that strong in 1950s. But he did not accomplished much because he was passive and defensive and let the three harpies Hillary Clinton, Samantha Power and Susan Rice plus Victoria Nuland run the show. Isn’t it interesting that his chief of staff and the 2nd AG are also women. I sometimes thought that it was Michelle who had real balls and it was her who was behind the cold shoulder Obama was giving to Netanyahu.

According to Hersh (see link above) DIA’s sabotage of weapon supplies by CIA was only a gesture of good will towards Assad to open a channel of communication, so certainly it had no great impact.

        • I’ll admit I had to look up the definition of cunctatory. So Obama, Cunctator in Chief, succeeded where Jack failed by grabbing up all the neocon pussy in DC? Perhaps if Jack had put Ladybird in charge of State that trip to Dallas would’ve been uneventful? Would you attribute Obama’s survival to improved SS security protocol (no more all nighters w/hookers and blow)? Please forgive my skepticism but I put Hersh in the same DNI boat with Bob Woodward.

          • I value Hersh a lot. It was him in 2013 who came up with article (had to publish it in UK because nobody would take it in the US) that 2013 poison gas attach in Syria was a false flag to implicate Syrian government and gave pretty good leads on who possibly was behind. And his sources were not Russian but CIA and Pentagon.

When evaluating Obama one must not forget about the Iran deal which certainly had Obama going agains all Israel firsters. This Obama greatest accomplishment. But this is the deal that Trump wants to dismantle.

Also it was during Obama administration that Israel was ready to launch the attack against Iran on three occasions but they never got commitment from US official (Obama) channels. Supposedly on one occasion Israeli generals chickened out and on one occasion Netanyahu called it off.

As far as Obama survival, perhaps there was no attempt. Him being the Cunctator in Chief was giving the neocons hope and kept them in suspense. They got Libya, they got ISIS, they got Ukraine, right? That kept them happy. Assassinations are very extreme measures and I am pretty sure that big business would not be happy if Obama, the facade standing for the just and hopeful America would be destroyed because people would start taking a closer look at what was hiding behind the facade.

Do not start with JFK, because we will never know.

            • I will start with JFK thank you very much because we do know enough about Mongoose, Dulles, Lansdale, Poppy and Company to know these people are totally fucking evil. And you’re saying the CIA is a reliable source of information for “journalists” like Hersh? Really, Kemosabe?

Not to split hairs here but they didn’t get Ukraine, they only got half. The shitty half. So I don’t know how it is that you know the neocons are happy with that? To quote the 9/11 FDNY chief, “Who the fuck told you that?”

        • I think Scott pretty well established Hersh as the DNI limited hangout/narrative-fixer of choice last year (https://willyloman.wordpress.com/2015/05/21/the-bin-laden-digital-bookshelf-psyop-isnt-over-like-snowden-and-wikileaks-more-to-be-released-later/).

I’m no expert on all this cloak and dagger shit by any means, but I put about as much stock in Hersh’s version of history as I do in Bill O’Really’s.

  5. Q: Do the Pentagon leaders remember this?
A: Um, everything’s under control. Situation normal.
    Q: Wha’ happened?
A: Ah, had a slight weapons malfunction. But, uh, everything’s perfectly alright now. We’re fine. We’re all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

  6. he’s probably doing it to kill off all the witnesses that HE (with shillary) was supplying al qaida with money and weapons (in clintonesque fashion to get rid of witnesses)

  7. […] this movement to remove Trump from officer before he sets foot in it is suddenly gaining momentum as the CIA’s “moderate” terrorists and al-Qaeda in Syria (al-Nusra) are now on the chopping bl…. I wonder if the Greater Kurdistan project is involved in any […]
