If you only watch the MSM outlets you would think the next event in the battle for the Democratic presidential nomination process is the New York primary two weeks from today. However, there is another little state stuck in there along the way: Wyoming. They are having a caucus in two days, this Saturday, the 9th.
CNN, Fox and MSNBC are steadily telling us it’s all about building some Big Apple momentum right now for the two remaining candidates, Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton. They are telling us that while wearing their “don’t look west” blinders.
Regardless of the silent treatment from the MSM, the people of Wyoming are busy getting ready for their day in the sun.
There are 18 delegates up for grabs over there and the latest polling shows Sanders holding a slim lead over Killary. So you would think it might rate a little news coverage from the press, but you would be wrong.
The reason for that is pretty obvious.
The Clinton campaign has ignored Wyoming. For all intents and purposes, they have conceded the state to Sanders. After all, it is a caucus state and those are harder for Hillary to rig than the primary states because there is no tabulation via electronic voting machines. She’s going to lose and if history is any indication, she will lose by a sizable margin adding to the Sanders campaign’s momentum.
So we can understand why the Clintonistas wish to forget about Wyoming as they try to build their own momentum going into Metropolis.
And when you look at it that way, it’s fairly easy to understand why the corporate press is following suit: they are doing their best to help the corporate Dem’s bid for the White House.
It is almost impossible to find any coverage of the Wyoming caucus in the MSM right now that isn’t simply a mention as a side bar about Bernie’s Wisconsin victory speech. He gave that during a stump speech in Laramie. I found myself on Public Radio websites, trying to find some coverage. Apparently the for-profit ones don’t know Wyoming is a state.
The people of Wyoming are taking this pretty seriously though. They have moved the caucus locations into bigger venues this past week, anticipating record breaking turnouts in 6 different counties. Another reason Hillary figures to lose. Large turnouts do not favor her.
As they were tallying the votes in Wisconsin, Bernie found himself surrounded by thousands of supporters on a college campus while Hillary chose to attend a fund-raiser hosted by a former AIPAC VP.
“She raised at least $60,000 Tuesday night at a fundraiser hosted by Jack Bendheim, the owner of a company that manufactures veterinary health products and nutritional supplements. Benheim, a former vice president of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, has deep ties to New York’s orthodox Jewish community.” Haaretz
That didn’t get much MSM attention either.
It looks to me like Hillary Clinton is about to lose yet another state in her race for the Big Prize so it’s no wonder that the media is trying to focus on any little perceived misstep from Sanders instead of mentioning the fact that she lost the last 6 events by: 57%, 59%, 63%, 40%, 46% and 14%
To the folks of Wyoming, I just want you too know, someone out here is paying attention. We haven’t all forgot about you. Have a good caucus and try not to take it personally. Hillary snubbed you. The press is snubbing you. But I haven’t.
I know you haven’t done anything interesting since A River Runs Through It, but I have confidence in you guys. You are important… you do exist on the political spectrum. Maybe not all eyes are on you, but some are. Hang in their, keep your heads up and caucus like you never caucused before.
Oh wait a minute. Was that Montana? Oops.
