It doesn’t even phase us anymore.
The other day a spokesman for the State Department told a fellow member state of NATO that they don’t want to “choose sides” between their democratically elected government and some terrorists who just blew up 28 people in the street. A PKK splinter group just took credit for the Ankara attack. For what that’s worth. There’s also a video out there of a bunch of Kurds from different terrorist groups saying they are now waging war against Turkey. And the State Department just doesn’t want to take sides (which of course, is taking sides)
That really fucking happened. It did. And no one is even mildly surprised about it.Hardly a peep from the “alternative” press.
No damn “Je Su Charlie” for the Turks. Fuck ’em I guess. That’s the message from “Team America – World Police Sometimes When It Suits Us and Other Times When There’s a Buck to Be Made From It So Go Fuck Yourself Turkey”.
Anyway, continuing on the point that I touched on earlier, that no one’s paying any attention anymore, John Kerry decided to go to Hollywood and get 12 or so big time producers and executives to sit down with him to discuss fixing the “ISIS™” narrative a little. I guess that is because poll after poll shows the American people couldn’t give a rat’s ass about fighting “ISIS™” and all their fake beheading videos… and they are more concerned with finding a job, not getting foreclosed on, keeping Facebook from selling all their personal data, Social Security, illegal immigration, GMOs, the TPP… you know, the kind of stuff that has an effect on them everyday.
It’s bad enough that Kerry’s little trip brings to mind things like McCarthism and the old Operation Mockingbirds of days gone by. But Kerry himself saw fit to have someone take a picture of him meeting with the gaggle of Mockingbirds and send it out on his Twitter account.
“Ha ha. It’s our Goebbels world and you just live in it. So suck on that!” seems to be the message from Progressive Obama’s Progressive Secretary of State.
You don’t go to Hollywood to get “ideas” on how to fight “the narrative” of the fictional “ISIS™” that turns up in every country you want to bomb back into submission. Their “narrative” is too make fake beheading videos to make everyone hate them. Their “narrative” is to kill Muslims to make Muslims hate them. Their “narrative” is to say they rape women to make women hate them. Their “narrative” is to kill Japanese guys to make the Japanese hate them.
Who the fuck can’t beat that “narrative”?
For that matter, why can’t we blow them up when they are driving around in mile-long parades with masks and “ISIS™” flags blowing in the breeze?
Oh, never mind. It’s just so Goddamned stupid…
Anyway, John Kerry didn’t go to Hollywood to get ideas on how to win the hearts and minds campaign against a hearts and minds campaign. He went there to get the Hollywood producers to produce more propaganda aimed at steering their audiences toward supporting the Never Ending Global War OF Terrorism Against Anyone Anywhere At Anytime if They Don’t Do What We Say i.e. ISIS™ .
“This is not just a military battle. It’s a battle of ideas, an it’s a battle of ideas between competing narratives,” said top Kerry aide Richard Stengel.
Stengel was in Tuesday’s closed-door meeting with almost a dozen film studio executives when the secretary of state made his pitch.
“Hollywood is one of the greatest competitive advantages we have as a country. It’s revered all around the planet. It’s our second largest export,” Stengel said.
The film industry grosses tens of billions of dollars worldwide every year. And it’s not the first time Hollywood has teamed up with Uncle Sam. The Pentagon worked with producer Jerry Bruckheimer in 1986 for “Top Gun,” a box office hit that also became an effective recruiting tool for wanna-be fighter pilots.
Other collaborations have produced mixed results. Some critics felt the advice CIA officials gave to the makers of “Zero Dark Thirty” led to a film that excused controversial torture techniques. Variety’s managing editor Ted Johnson said this week’s meeting took a different approach…
“The reason the United States can’t be the brand behind the counter-narrative is because we have no credibility when we’re talking about Islam,” CBS News contributor and former CIA deputy director Michael Morell said. CBS
How about that? A Mockingbird says it’s perfectly OK for the State Department to be enlisting a bunch of Mockingbirds for some good old fashioned propaganda. And also notice… he says the US can’t be the “brand” behind it… proving Kerry isn’t there for “advice” but rather, getting them to make some propaganda themselves under their “brand”
See what happens when you pay attention?
So I was thinking about this and I was wondering which film it reminds me of: Wag the Dog or Team America – World Police. Here are two little clips for you to judge for yourself. I’m leaning more toward Team America but I could be persuaded.
World Police fuck Yeah!
Wag the Dog explains the war on terror:
Is Mr. Kerry telling us all there is no war but ours? Quite possible I imagine. But again, like his State Department telling Turkey to go screw themselves, no one’s paying attention anymore. To worried about Trump and Killary I suppose.
But there it is. I can’t wait to see what Hollywood comes up with.
I wonder if they’ll make a summer blockbuster or just some more fake beheading videos? Or maybe they’ll do another Boston Bombing/Sandy Hook thing.
It’s an exciting time to be alive, isn’t it folks?
