I will be spending the rest of the morning adding category tags to my huge list of uncategorized articles. It is a daunting task, one that I have been putting off for reasons of pure laziness. Sorry bout that. When I return I’ll address what’s happening in Egypt and Tunisia.
(Rahm just can’t help himself. Hires a fascist friend of Obama to prove how “open” his police state will be. But hey, he’s black) To Address Police Violence, Rahm Emanuel Hires Notoriously Abusive Cop as His ‘Civil Rights’ Adviser – “Seeking to placate growing public outrage over corruption, abuse, and a lack of accountability in the Chicago Police Department — including an apparently endless string of unjustified police killings, the maintenance of a Gitmo-style “black site,” and a still-festering decades-long scandal involving interrogation through torture — Mayor Rahm Emanuel has sought help from a veteran obstructionist who has performed a similar service as head of President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing: Former Washington, D.C. police chief Charles Ramsey, who recently retired after a scandal-plagued term as Police Commissioner in Philadelphia.”
(another sub-prime mortgage bubble in the making) 3% Downpayment FHA Loans Surge as Low Credit Buyers Enticed Back Into the Housing Market – “Americans across the country have been priced out of the U.S. housing market since the “recovery” began due to a combination of factors; stagnant wages, private equity purchases and money laundering foreigners. As such, many potential first time buyers have been sidelined despite the availability of meager 3% downpayment loans from the FHA as well as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Fortunately for the U.S. ponzi scheme economy, the U.S. government has a solution. Lower mortgage insurance premiums.”
(can you say “derail the new peace process in Syria”?) ‘There’ll be boots on the ground’: US making noises about ‘doing more’ in Syria and Iraq – “Recent remarks by US Secretary of Defense Ash Carter (see report below) in Davos appear to dovetail with similar words yesterday from US Vice President Joe Biden who stated, “We are prepared to have a military solution for this operation, and taking out Daesh (ISIS).””
(What was I writing about slavery the other day?) Freedom Rider: The Return of the Happy Slave – “How does a writer make slavery a light and breezy read for children? By presenting a story that’s comforting to white bosses at corporate publishing houses, that’s how. The same racial hierarchy that prevailed under the slavocracy calls the shots in today’s book selling industry. The rules haven’t changed: don’t make Mr. Charlie angry, or hurt Miss Ann’s feelings.”
“Everyone is buzzing about the president’s birthday! Especially George Washington’s servants, who scurry around the kitchen preparing to make this the best celebration ever. Oh, how George Washington loves his cake! And, oh, how he depends on Hercules, his head chef, to make it for him. Hercules, a slave, takes great pride in baking the president’s cake. But this year there is one problem–they are out of sugar.” Amazon
(The “Happy Slaves” book is now selling for $145 on Amazon because it’s been taken out of print. It’s interesting because publications like the Guardian (British, and we all know how much the Brits like slavery) are saying it was wrong for Scholastic to stop publishing the book in spite of the fact that it falsely represented slavery as something black people could enjoy. On the other hand, the Guardian and various free speech activists groups who defend the publication of his “Happy Slaves” book (for KIDS) are still saying nothing about Amazon stopping the sales of a book questioning what happened at Sandy Hook or the firing of an FAU professor for the same reasons. So, they defend the notion of presenting slavery as a happy-happy-joy-joy time for slaves, yet approve of silencing informed investigations? Hmmm. What was that I was saying the other day about slavery in Europe making a comeback?)
(Bruce Dixon explains astro-turfed progressive “leader” in the BLM campaign. A guy paid by the Atlantic, living in France, telling all the black folks here in America that “ebil soooOoooOoOocialists” can’t see racism so they had better vote for Killary and stay away from “ebil sooOoooOocialism”. Ain’t it funny how this is the same line fed to neocons and libertarians alike? Dixon also accurately explains how Bernie Sanders isn’t really a socialist) Ta Nehesi Coates’ Bernie Sanders Brain Fart Isn’t Even About Reparations – “In the real world, not the fantasies of Mr. Coates, Bernie Sanders is no kind of socialist. Socialists stand for the working class, the poor, the common man and woman regardless of nation and color. Bernie’s socialism stops at the water’s edge, as he endorses apartheid in Israel, the Pentagon budget and the global empire of hundreds US bases and vast military industries that eat half the nation’s wealth annually. This makes Bernie no friend of the poor anyplace outside the US and not so much the friend of the poor inside it either, really no kind of socialist at all. Bernie know this, and has rarely if ever called himself one in recent years. But he allows, even encourages us to call him that this year because socialism is popular, even though Ta Nehesi Coates thinks it should not be.”
(“War. War never changes.”) US think tank outlines master plan for war with China – “A new Center for International and Strategic Studies (CSIS) report released last week is a chilling warning of the accelerating preparations of the United States for war with China—a conflict that would likely plunge the world into a nuclear catastrophe.”
(France going full fascist until they get rid of the enemy that doesn’t’ exist based on fear that they created so they could go full fascist. Neat trick. I see what you did there.) Prime Minister Valls pledges permanent state of emergency in France – “In an interview with the BBC while attending the economic summit in Davos, Switzerland, Valls proclaimed that France is waging all-out war with IS. “As long as the threat is there, we must use all available means,” he said, adding that the state of emergency must stay in place “until we can get rid of Daesh”.”
Massive protests in France are being met with a violent crackdown by the police state.
(John McCain’s moderate terrorists are back at work in Syria) 19 people killed, over 100 injured in twin bombings in Homs, death toll expected to rise – “19 people were killed and many others were injured in two terrorist attacks that hit al-Zahraa neighborhood in Homs city on Tuesday.”
Hillary Clinton was making $200,000 an hour talking to Goldman Sachs executives about secret stuff.
