Pentagon weighs using force to protect US(CIA)-backed Syria rebels (terrorists) targeted by Russia

from Fox “News”

Senior U.S. military leaders and defense officials are debating whether military force should be used to protect Washington-backed Syrian rebels who have come under attack by Russian airstrikes in recent days.

The Associated Press reported early Friday that the question was part of a broader debate within the Pentagon about the the broader dilemma of how the administration should respond to what White House press secretary Josh Earnest described as Russia’s “indiscriminate military operations against the Syrian opposition.”

Tensions between the U.S. and Russia are escalating over Russian airstrikes that are serving to strengthen Syrian President Bashar Assad by targeting the so-called “moderate” rebels rather than hitting Islamic State (ISIS) fighters it promised to attack.

  1. I’m sure this is just for public consumption. However, our dear leaders are becoming ever more psychotic, if I dare say so myself. If they try they will lose and probably resort to nukes. Fucking lunatic scum.

  2. I am pretty dam sure that they are really considering doing just that. You don’t need to put boots on the ground as a first steep. You just need a couple of obedient pilots to lit the torch and then it will have a natural snow-ball effect. Obama and Putin are not mortal enemies because both of them have the same boss/master or whatever.

But I hope I am wrong.

  3. I don’t know… this Reuters article makes US leadership sound pretty f-ing pussified:
    “BURDEN ON RUSSIA”

The CIA has run an ostensibly covert training program for vetted Syrian rebel groups deemed moderate by Western states that have supported the uprising against Assad. The plan is separate from the U.S. military’s train-and-equip program aimed at building a Syrian rebel force to fight radical Islamic State insurgents. That program is considered to have all but failed.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest blasted Russia for “indiscriminate bombing of Syrian opposition targets” and said it was making a “grave miscalculation”.

But when asked whether the United States would do anything to protect them from Russian air strikes, he told reporters: “I think the burden here is on Russia.”
