How thoughtful. I wonder if Rita Katz’ production company will get one.
The new patch looks like something “ISIS” would wear. It’s not getting rave reviews from the general enlisted population.
Look, we all know the British SAS soldiers have been dressing up as “ISIS” and running around Iraq and Syria in Helix trucks for various photo shoots and all those “beheading” videos were fakes made in production studios somewhere. Is it really such a stretch to assume US Spec Ops guys were doing the same thing with some fake beards and “ISIS” flags during Operation Inherent Resolve?
You mean to tell me with all the spy satellites, drone and surveillance aircrafts we have floating around over Iraq and Syria… we can’t find these idiots?
They’re running around out in the middle of nowhere with big flags on their long lines of trucks saying “come shoot us”
Why don’t we have about 30 streets and highways in Iraq looking like this:
I know we have the capability. We did it before back in ’91 and those guys didn’t even have flags.
Wanna know why we don’t see “ISIS” sprawled out across some desert highway after being stupid enough to arrange a parade photo-op for no apparent reason?
“ISIS” was a hearts and minds campaign being waged to generate public support for renewed aggression in Iraq and open warfare in Syria. It’s unconventional warfare in support of actual warfare. We needed a evil villain to justify our actions in two countries and “ISIS” was born.
Is it so wrong to want to give our soldiers a patch for doing their duty? Unconventional warfare is a legitimate (and growing) aspect of our military operations overseas (and possibly at home?)
The inside joke is the patch looks like something “ISIS” would wear… and they give it to guys who used to dress up as “ISIS”
OK. I get it. That’s funny. I suppose.
I mean, if you care to recall, we weren’t supposed to have COMBAT troops in Iraq or Syria fighting on the ground against “ISIS” right? So who gets this COMBAT patch? Drone pilots?
take a minute. process that. I’ll wait…
[tick tock tick tock tick tock]
I wonder how long it will be before guys start putting their fake beheading video credits on IMDB.
Anyway, this patch has been out since April and it’s only now getting some unwanted attention. Frankly, I think the guys who worked on the project should get a patch. As long as unconventional warfare is a legitimate branch of our service, they deserve it. You can’t say they didn’t achieve their goals. Obama’s back in Iraq after all the hoopla about him “getting us out of George’s bad war” and he’s dropping humanitarian bombs on Syrian civilian infrastructure like a Dick Cheney wet dream without so much as a peep from the fake left anti-war movement.
So yeah, give em a patch. Just, next time, try to keep the little inside jokes separate from them. There is a large contingent of current and former military service people who don’t find it funny at all.
Former Army Capt. Kevin Casas called the patch “100% Haji style!
“The team I worked with in the Jordanian Special Forces had a patch just like that, they were good guys, but the bad guys’ patch also looks like … that,” he continued. “How about an American looking style symbol? wtf man?”
