Saudi spy agency funds al-Nusra terrorists in Syria: Report

from Press TV

Citing foreign intelligence sources, the Intelligence Online Newsletter said Saudi Arabia’s General Intelligence Presidency (GIP), which is led by Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, took advantage of its communications with terrorists in Iraq to help establish al-Nusra Front.

“Thanks to funding from the General Intelligence Presidency and support from the Saudi intelligence in Lebanon, al-Nusra was able to swiftly arm its forces,” the report stated.

The Intelligence Online Newsletter also confirmed Saudi confidential documents indicating that the Saudi Interior Ministry had sent a military official into Syria in line with Riyadh’s plans to provide the militants with money and weapons.

CIA militaristic tool of Wall Street capitalism: US activist

(Not really news. The “conspiracy theorists” have been saying that the CIA has ALWAYS been the enforcement arm of the fascist state for a very long time. What is interesting about this debate is that like many others (Yesterday I watched a “debate” between two international supporters of Chavez’ work and legacy against a Business Firster from Venezuela. The “debate” was so one sided, the Business Firster got up and left during the first break. He had nothing to use against those others because they were well informed and didn’t let him get away with his usual talking-points bullshit.) when you put one of these propagandists up against a well informed liberal activist, they don’t stand a chance. They come off looking like what they are; self-important, dogma salesmen peddling disinformation and blind fealty to a morally bankrupt system. It’s a good interview in that sense. The fact is, this bullshit is being exposed left and right (and I do mean that in the political sense as well) all across the world. Expect a rash action to be taken very soon to get them back on track and try to silence the growing pool of dissidents (remember the largest the anti-Globalization Movement ever got was in late 2000… and we all know what happened to silence that…))

from Press TV Debate (go here to watch the debate)

“That’s what the CIA is all about. It is an armed wing of the capitalist government of the United States, which serves the Wall Street. That’s what, it is plain and simple,” said Caleb Maupin in a Saturday interview.

“All over the world wherever people are demanding justice and fighting for things people want like peace, jobs, democracy and equality, the CIA goes in to defend the interests of Wall Street, to assassinate, to murder and to commit chaos and crimes,” he pointed out.

Maupin was making the remarks in the wake of the US Senate confirmation of John Brennan, the top White House adviser on the so-called war on terror and purported architect of Washington’s drone operations, as the next director of the CIA on Thursday.

President Karzai Says CIA and Insurgency are Working Together

UPDATE:Taliban are serving the foreigners and are not against the foreigner,” Karsai

UPDATE:A news conference scheduled for Afghan President Hamid Karzai and US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel has been cancelled

The AP headline claims that Karzai says the CIA and the insurgency/Taliban are working together in order to keep NATO troops and U.S. contractors in Afghanistan. The Huffington Post calls that an “outrageous conspiracy theory”

from the AP

Afghan President Hamid Karzai is denouncing the seizure of a university student by armed Afghans that his spokesman says work for the CIA.

Karzai spokesman Aimal Faizi told The Associated Press on Sunday that the CIA freed the student after Karzai’s staff intervened. But Faizi says Karzai wants the armed Afghans arrested and will ban foreign forces from universities.

Faizi says the raiders fired shots as they grabbed the student Saturday from a Kandahar university. He says they interrogated him at a CIA post that Taliban leader Mullah Omar once used as a home.

The CIA could not be reached for comment.

The agency has trained an Afghan counterterrorist force that U.S. officials say works with Afghan intelligence. They spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to speak publicly

Rebels free 21 UN captives in southern Syria

from the AP

Rebels in southern Syria freed 21 U.N. peacekeepers on Saturday after holding them hostage for four days, driving them to the border with Jordan after accusations from Western officials that the little-known group had tarnished the image of those fighting to topple President Bashar Assad.

The abduction and the tortured negotiations that ended it highlight the disorganization of the rebel movement, which has hindered its ability to fight Assad and complicates vows by the U.S. and others to provide assistance.

It also has raised concerns about the future of U.N. operations in the area. The Filipino peacekeepers were abducted on Wednesday by one of the rebel groups operating in southern Syria near the Jordanian border and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, where a U.N. force has patrolled a cease-fire line between Israel and Syria for nearly four decades.

Activists associated with the group, the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade, gave different reasons for seizing the 21 men. First they demanded that all government forces leave the area. Then they suggested the peacekeepers were human shields against government attacks. Then they declared them “honored guests” held for their own safety.

They also released videos online, including one on Saturday of a bearded rebel commander with his arms around two peacekeepers’ shoulders, flashing a V for victory sign.
