This shit just gets dumber and more obvious by the minute.
ABC “News” is reporting that the Department of Homeland Security is issuing a warning that al Qaeda may be planning to attack utility services from “the inside”. This of course comes from the records supposedly seized by the phantom Navy Seal team when they “killed” Osama bin Laden. Apparently, according to the story, bin Laden had big plans for the 10 year anniversary of 9/11. The plan apparently involves getting “insiders” to “flip a switch” and destroy infrastructure… or worse.
“After gaining access to such sites, causing mayhem could be relatively easy, according to former White House counter-terrorism advisor and ABC News consultant Richard Clarke.
“There are a lot of very sensitive facilities where someone can get a job on the inside, get access to a control room, flip a switch, which causes an electric power grid to short circuit, causes a pipeline to explode,” Clarke said.” ABC “News”
That’s a ridiculous statement, to be sure. Not only are people with access to such sensitive equipment and controls carefully screened, but there are so many redundant back-up protections designed into these systems, someone would have to be an expert at their operation just to get them to malfunction.
Imagine Richard Clark going on television on Sept. 10th 2001 and explaining that it would be “relatively easy” for a guy who can’t fly a Cessna to pull off a 500 mph 280 degree power turn with a Boeing 757 then leveling out and skimming over 200 yards at tree-top level, still at 500+ mph, without so much as bending a blade of grass on the lawn in front of the Pentagon.
The focus seems to be on nuclear power plants. The image from the ABC video shows a cooling tower looming ominously behind someone’s little clapboard home out in the mid-west I believe. Pretty subtle.
“U.S. officials were stunned last year in Yemen with the arrest of an alleged American recruit to al Qaeda, Sharif Mobley, of New Jersey, who had been employed as five different U.S. nuclear power plants in and around Pennsylvania after successfully passing federal background checks.”
“If someone is determined, and has the right access, they could do damage that would affect thousands of lives,” Sweet said.
Al Qaeda has already put out the word in its online magazine, Inspire, for “brothers of ours who have specialized expertise and those who work in sensitive locations that would offer them unique opportunities to wreak havoc on the enemies of Allah.” ABC “News”
Looks like the terrorists in Washington, London, and Tel Aviv are up to something. Maybe it will be as relatively harmless as turning out the lights on the east coast for a day or so. Maybe not. But they are clearly setting up a pretext for their next “terrorist attack” and this time they are trying to fix the problematic story-lines before they do it. Obviously they won’t be able to convince some schmuck to park a car some FBI informant gives him in front of a nuclear power plant. The FEDS are running out of semi-retarded patsies since they have been framing them for years so they are going to have to figure out something else.
Since the redundancy measures on these facilities are so good, a simple car bomb wouldn’t do much anyway.
No.. they have to shut it down from the inside so the propagandists have to start up the narrative that al Qaeda is working in our nuclear plants. Get that story out early so that people might be more inclined to believe it when the power turns off or a nuclear plant suffers a bit of a melt-down.
I thought al Qaeda was busy in Libya pretending to be rebel fighters?
The whole thing is based on intelligence they got from the raid that killed bin Laden so take that for what it’s worth as well.
In a remarkable bit of Orwellian double-speak, the ABC “News” report cites a recent failed attempt as proof positive that this kind of thing could work.
“As evidence of American infrastructure vulnerabilities, the report specifically cites the attempted insider sabotage this April at a water treatment plant in Arizona.
Officials said then a disgruntled night shift worker took over the control room and tried to create a giant methane gas explosion.
“I am taking the plant hostage,” the worker said in a recorded 911 call.
There was no tie to al Qaeda and his plot failed, but the incident was a reminder of how easily one insider could create potentially deadly mayhem.” ABC “News”
It’s as if Disney’s writers have moved into ABC’s “News” offices and are writing the news as well and plagiarizing the stuff just like they did with The Lion King.
Don’t bother with the facts anymore. No one is paying attention anyway, just those damn malcontented conspiracy theorists and who listens to them.
Just the other day Glenn Greenwald was flabbergasted at the idea that Obama would threaten to veto anything that had an attachment on it that called for a review of the FBI’s “Amerithrax” investigation after his own Justice Department revealed the FBI’s investigation was total bunk. Obama’s reasoning? “It would undermine the public’s opinion of the FBI’s investigation”. Duh?
Glenn’s had many chances to write about 9/11 and various other bits of propaganda we have been assaulted with over the years and he has always turned them down. Now he basically hears that the anthrax attacks did not come from Dr. Ivins and the FBI set the man up while the White House was doing all it could to promote the lies and protect the liars. Not to mention the fact that someone, still out there, killed 5 people and staged a terror attack on the people of this country and congress so that the Patriot Act would be passed, and they are still at large. And it’s pretty obvious at this point the White House is protecting them…
So, were the conspiracy theorists right this time Glenn? Yes. Will you listen next time? No. Why? Because it doesn’t pay as well as not listening, that’s why.
So here we go again and maybe, in ten more years or so, “truth-sayers” like Mr. Greenwald will be talking about some new presidential puppet clearing the way for some future “investigation” into the ten year anniversary meltdown attack or some such other bullshit FF event which is in the works. Who knows. It’s all so damn predictable. It’s all so damn depressing.
