Looks like “South Sudan” is about as legitimate as the national transitional council in Libya. China had invested billions in a pipeline that ran across the Sudan and now we have cut it in half. Also appears that Sudan didn’t have a privately owned central banking system. Hedge funders and financial heads are buying up land in South Sudan for next to nothing for the mineral rights, kicking people off their land. We have had sanctions in place in Sudan for years now but this seems to open things up for all those investment houses to move in and buy up everything that isn’t nailed down.
The staged celebrations of the South Sudanese people after they “won” their independence featured some of the bused in revelers waving Israeli flags for some reason.

Ahhh! Makes you proud to be an American! Without us these poor bastards would still have their own country, homes and jobs to worry about. Not any more!
Well John, we can’t have anyone doing better than Americans…. that would just depress us…. our leaders are looking out for our mental health.
And I wonder what China thinks of losing their pipe line? they taking that lying down? WE robbed them.
Jan, it might be the straw that starts WW3.
The Chinese are being provoked by the western powers as they try to secure resources for the future. All these atrocities are resource grabs disguised as revolutions.Eventually China will be forced to defend the resources they are paying dearly for,but it will take them many years to equal the might of the West.
i guess Darfur is off the radar now!
