Illinois Attorney General, Lisa Madigan, is doing her part to help put this whole Gov. Blagojevich problem to bed and she is doing so in a way that is such a stretch of the imagination and a disgrace to her legal profession, that I just can’t believe it.
While Rahm Emanuel is hiding in his home because he just can’t face reporters who keep asking him if he is the person named in the criminal complaint, Lisa Madigan has come up with a clever way to save the day.
She is claiming that Gov. Blagojevich should be removed from office because he is disabled. I shit you not.
“unable to serve as governor due to disability and should not rightfully continue to hold that office.” CBS News
“The pervasive nature and severity of these pending charges disable Mr. Blagojevich from making effective decisions on critical, time-sensitive issues,” CBS News
The law on the books that she is attempting to “spin” to suit her needs, is based on the instance if the Gov were to be injured or sick and not able to fulfill the requirements of the job.
“The attorney general is applying a rule that was intended to cover cases where a governor is incapacitated for health reasons. Her motion indicates that his inability to serve because of the scandal is akin to a debilitating health issue.” CBS News
I think it all depends on what the definition of “is” is. Don’t you?
So, what the fine AG of Illinois is saying is that if someone brings an allegations of wrong doing against someone else, before that allegation is proven in a court of law, even before a date for trial is set, then the person accused should be considered disabled and they should lose their job?
Is that the legal argument of the Attorney General of the State of Illinois?
Does it matter that this Attorney General is a “…a longtime Blagojevich foe considering a run for governor in 2010.” and that she may be someone who has been considered by Obama insiders as a candidate for that very senate seat this is supposed to be about?
Does it matter that Madigan comes from a line of political insiders in the state of Illinois, and right now her father is the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, Michael Madigan who really doesn’t get along with Blagojevich?
I guess all that apparent “conflict of interest” stuff, just doesn’t matter these days.
I just guess the due process of law means absolutely nothing when Rahm Emanuel is hiding in his house rather than having to tell the truth to reporters about a case that might cost someone their career. We need to get this guy out of office or pouting Rahm won’t come out to play.
“The President-elect’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, said today he won’t go to the Chicago Presidential transition offices in order to avoid reporters seeking to ask him whether he had contact with Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich about the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama’s election.” ABC News
You guys think Blagojevich is crazy? Listen to this comment Rahm made;
“You’re wasting your time,” Emanuel told a Chicago Sun-Times reporter yesterday. “I’m not going to say a word to you. I’m going to do this with my children. Don’t do that. I’m a father. I have two kids. I’m not going to do it.” Rahm Emanuel (the next White House Chief of Staff)
What? What the f___ does that mean? What does it mean? “I’m not doing it” “I’m a father” “Don’t do that” “I am going to do it”… what the hell does that mean?
This is how Rahm Emanuel deals with a difficult pressure filled situation?
He hides in his house and pouts? Are you kidding?
He won’t even answer a legitimate question that goes straight to the heart of this issue? He just hides?
Can we expect more of this childish and laughable behavior in the future when he is Obama’s Chief of Staff?
It seems to me, the one who has clearly been disabled here is Rahm.
Of course that depends on what your definition of “is” is.
