(screen-shot taken from Air Force website) So the Air Force is now waging war on three-fronts; the Air, Space, and Cyberspace… according to their new website. That main page has some nice CGI stuff that shows a bomber flying over the world, and what looks to be a global “cyber-net” of some kind (“winning hearts and minds” I guess).
But most disturbing of all, they actually have what can only be described as satellite missile platforms floating all across the globe pointing down at countries. Now did I miss something? Are we now in the business of floating weapons of mass destruction in space? Isn’t there like a treaty that prohibits this practice? Well, it looks like Ronnie Ray-gun is getting his magic after all.

The Strategic Defense Initiative Organization, started up in 1983 or so, died under the Clinton administration. Part of the reason it did was our treaties with the rest of the world.
The Outer Space Treaty of 1967, which requires “States Parties to the Treaty undertake not to place in orbit around the Earth any objects carrying nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction, install such weapons on celestial bodies, or station such weapons in outer space in any other manner” and would forbid the US from pre-positioning in Earth orbit any devices powered by nuclear weapons and any devices capable of “mass destruction“. Even though in 2005 Bush 43 got into a little hot water when a report came out that said they were looking to weaponize space and most liberals and “progressives” rightly jumped up and down when he pulled us out of the 30-year-old Antiballistic Missile Treaty in 2002, apparently someone thinks now just might be the time to move forward with Donald Rumsfeld’s opinion that the military “ensure that the president will have the option to deploy weapons in space.“ Spacewar
“Let me make that clear right off the top, because you asked about the weaponization of space, and the policy that we’re talking about is not looking at weaponizing space,” White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters (In 2005). Spacewar
So apparently what Bush can’t even get away with, Obama can? Is that the way it works now? Weaponizing space? Parking WMDs over peoples homes in order to force them to bend to the imperial whims of people like Rahm Emanuel or maybe Sarah Palin in 2012?
The ‘Rods From God’ program aims to launch cylinders of tungsten, titanium or uranium from space to strike targets on the ground at speeds of about 11,500 kilometers per hour (7,200 miles per hour) with the force of a small nuclear weapon. Spacewar
“Change”? That kinda change would make Ronnie proud, now wouldn’t it?
