Richard Falk: Maintaining the Unlawful Siege of Gaza is a Crime against Humanity - “Prof. Falk believes that “the maintenance of the unlawful blockade of goods to and from Gaza is well established as a form of collective punishment of the occupied civilian population of Gaza, and a flagrant violation of the most fundamental obligation of the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law.””

Professor and political activist Cornel West declared President Barack Obama a “war criminal,” arguing that his support of Israel and his drone policy make him complicit in the deaths of innocent people.
The controversial activist made the comments at a pro-Palestinian rally in Washington, DC on Saturday, according to Talking Points Memo. West began his speech by pointing to the deteriorating situation in Gaza, where more than 1,800 Palestinians and more than 60 Israelis have been killed, criticizing Israel’s offensive in the region in front of a “Free Palestine” banner…

“What are kids doing in schools in the first place.. in a war?”
“What are they doing putting children in schools with rockets?”
“You are an apologist for a terrorist organization (Hamas)!”
Over at What Really Happened I found an interesting and enlightening video of poor Geraldo Rivera trying to have a conversation concerning Gaza with a gaggle of insipid failed fashion model strippers who pretend to be journalists over at Fox News.
You almost feel sorry for Geraldo as he grimaces at the stupidity of the four Stepford wives. Almost that is until he tries to redeem himself by waving around his Star of David tattoo on his hand (he calls “a Jewish star”) claiming he’s a zionist ‘who would die for Israel’

The Israeli military withdrew the majority of its ground forces back to staging areas outside of Gaza on Sunday. The air force, however, continues to strike targets in the coastal strip.
Alongside the reorganization of its troops, which may lead to the establishment of a buffer zone wider than the one in existence before the current offensive, the Israeli army also started preparations toward future indictments against it for war crimes.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon demands those responsible for the ‘gross violation of international humanitarian law’ be held accountable.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned a deadly attack on a Gaza school on Sunday as a “moral outrage and a criminal act” and demanded those responsible for the “gross violation of international humanitarian law” be held accountable.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has lashed out at the UN Security Council for its failure to stop Israel’s atrocities in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Addressing the ministerial meeting of the Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran on Monday, Rouhani said “the continuation of the UN Security Council’s indifference and inaction” has emboldened the Tel Aviv regime to continue its crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people in Gaza.
“The inaction and flagrant indifference of the UN Security Council toward the current catastrophe in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, is a blatant symbol of injustice in the Security Council,” said Rouhani.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) says nine of its staff members have been killed in the Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip.

Several demonstrations have been held across the world to denounce Israel’s relentless attacks on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which have killed more than 1,800 people so far.
from the AP
In language that was rare in its directness and severity, the U.S. denounced in a statement issued Sunday the attack earlier in the day that killed 10 people, noting that the school had been designated a protected location.
” Among those killed, at least 402 were aged 18 or younger.. ”
This site, ‘Beyond Numbers’, has pictures of many of these victims.
The IMEMC (International Middle East Media Center) has compiled a list of the names of the Palestinians killed so far by Israel’s IDF during Operation Protective Edge. You will recall I linked to a U.N. report from Friday which showed that 77% of the fatalities in Gaza were civilians. That number was based on a death toll at the time which stood at 114. It would appear, looking at the names of the fallen since then that the 77% number, though exceedingly high for collateral damage in a war-zone, is low.
It is also important to remember that according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, prior to Israel launching Operation Protective Edge, in 2014 the conflict between Israel and Palestine had produced 4 Israeli victims compared to 50 Palestinians and that the 4 Israel victims include the 3 young university students who were probably killed by someone other than Hamas.
18 members of the al-Batsh family were killed in Khan Younis. The entire al-Hajj family was exterminated in the same city on Thursday.
Listed below are the names of the fallen as compiled by the IMEMC.
Previously I have been reporting the lists of names as compiled by Victims of Gaza. They list 1,829 victims thus far; 402 children).
IDENTIFIED by IMEMC: (203) are 16 or younger in red ; (110) are 50 or older in blue – (62 killed yesterday)
Gaza 72-hour ceasefire lasts less than 72 minutes as Israeli tanks open fire and kill four Palestinians
(Taking advantage of the Brennan distraction, Israel breaks the ceasefire agreement. What a shock)
from Daily Mail
At least four Palestinians have been killed by Israeli tank fire barely one hour after Israel and Hamas began observing a three-day ceasefire, Gaza officials have said.
(The backlash against Israeli savagery is taking it’s toll. Threats are being leveled politician to politician behind closed doors. See if you can decipher the hidden message from the former Shin Bet chief in these statements; “If the European countries fail to protect the Jews within their territory, the State of Israel will. Jewish blood is not cheap blood”, “If you do not stand by our side, the day when Islamic terror will reach your homes, your beds and your kindergartens will come soon,” a terrorist threat from a terrorist organization from a terrorist nation. Pretty straight forward.)
“If the European countries fail to protect the Jews within their territory, the State of Israel will. Jewish blood is not cheap blood,” Former Shin Bet chief, Knesset Member Yisrael Hasson told European envoys at the Knesset on Monday.
The Danish, Swedish and Dutch ambassadors to Israel, as well as officials from the embassies of Britain, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, Austria and Germany took part on Monday in an urgent meeting of the Knesset Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs Committee on the situation of Jewish communities in Europe.
Nathan Gelbart, the head of Germany’s Keren Hayesod (United Jewish Appeal) in Berlin, reported that the German Jewish community is scared “because these are things that have not occurred since 1933.” He cited demonstrators shouting “death to the Jews” and other anti-Semitic slogans.

“The US government has long maintained, reasonably enough, that a defining tactic of terrorism is to launch a follow-up attack aimed at those who go to the scene of the original attack to rescue the wounded and remove the dead. Morally, such methods have also been widely condemned by the west as a hallmark of savagery.” Glenn Greenwald, 2012 (before he became a billionaire’s bitch)
A video out of Gaza is going viral. It shows Israeli artillery strikes on a civilian rescue effort underway where a couple of ambulances and rescue workers respond to the site of an Israeli artillery attack on the civilian population at the Shujaiyya market. Seen in the early stages of the chaos is reporter Ramy Ryan.
