The Vegas Shooting – the “New World Order and Shit” and Other Dangerous Ideas

by Scott Creighton

UPDATE: see several updates at the end of this article

Years ago I wrote that when they decide to make that big leap from the slightly open society we have now to the totalitarian closed one we are destined for, one of the things they need to do is round up the dissidents in a very public manner so that not only are they out of the way, but so they will serve as an example of what happens to you when you think the wrong things.

You can see examples of this taking place right now in Egypt, Thailand and Ukraine. History is rife with examples. Look no farther than Indonesia when we installed Suharto or Chile after we installed Pinochet.

The most recent mass casualty event in the on-going American Gladio op took place in Vegas a few days ago. Two police officers and a woman shopping at WalMart tragically lost their lives. Was this simply a case of two bottom feeders going off? Was it part of a destabilization campaign designed to remake the country into something else? Was Cass Sunstein right about his “dangerous ideas” and the need to wipe them all off the interwebs or is someone helping him make his point as the new CISPA is about to be rolled out?

Let’s see.

The US Housing Market is Still “Flat on its Back”

from Mike Whitney, CounterPunch

Get a load of this chart from DataQuick’s National Home Sales Snapshot. It’ll tell you everything need to know about housing.

As you can see, prices are flatlining or drifting lower while sales are sinking like a stone. That’s the whole ball of wax, isn’t it?

Sure, sales will increase in the spring (as they always do), but judging by the sharp dropoff in last year’s hottest markets, this could be the crappiest spring selling season since the crash.

Why?

unnamed

(Note: MSA=metropolitan statistical area)

Because prices are too high, rates are too high, “organic” demand is too weak, credit is too tight, and the pool of potential buyers has shrunk to the size of a walnut, that’s why.The banks have reduced the percentage of distressed homes (foreclosures and short sales) on the market to roughly 11 percent from 59 percent in 2009. Fewer distressed homes mean higher prices, but higher prices mean fewer sales. It’s a trade-off. The banks get their money, but the market goes to hell. That’s how it works. According to most estimates, there are roughly 4.5 million homes in some stage of foreclosure. That means that –at the present pace–we should get through this Housing Depression a few weeks before Judgment Day. But don’t hold me to that.

Did you catch this gem on Bloomberg last week? It’s about the big private equity guys exiting the market. Take a look:

“Blackstone Group LP is slowing its purchases of houses to rent amid soaring prices after a buying binge made it the biggest U.S. single-family home landlord. Blackstone’s acquisition pace has declined 70 percent from its peak last year, when the private equity firm was spending more than $100 million a week on properties, said Jonathan Gray, global head of real estate for the New York-based firm…” (Blackstone’s Home Buying Binge Ends as Prices Surge, Bloomberg)

Okay, so the speculators are getting out of housing. How’s that going to effect the market?

No one really knows yet, but it can’t be good, after all, all-cash deals amounted to nearly 50 percent of all homes sales in many of the hotter markets last year. That’s why prices went up even though the economy was still in the shitter, because the fatcats were loading up on cheap real estate. Now it looks like they’re headed for the hills. That’s NOT going to be good for sales.

Did you know that existing home sales have dropped for six months straight, dipping below trend to the same level they were at in 1998?

But how can that be, you ask, when everyone’s blabbing about the recovery? How can that be when the Fed has purchased more than $1.4 trillion in mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and rates are a measly 4.5%? How can that be prices have been climbing higher for more than a year?

Five years of Obama’s “recovery”

by Patrick Martin, WSWS

This week marks five years since the New York Stock Exchange hit its low point at the bottom of the financial crash that erupted with the collapse of Lehman Brothers investment bank. On March 6, 2009, Dow Jones Industrial Average hit its post-collapse low of 6,443. Three days later, on March 9, 2009, the S&P 500 hit its post-collapse low of 676.

Yesterday, at the close of stock trading for the week, the Dow Jones average closed at 16,452, up a colossal 10,000 points over five years, or 154 percent. The S&P 500 stood at 1,878, rising even faster than the Dow, gaining 170 percent over five years.

These are only the most striking of a barrage of numbers reported in recent weeks, demonstrating that for the US financial aristocracy, the Crash of 2008 has been used to engineer a historic redistribution of wealth.

A bankers’ plan for Detroit

from the WSWS

The proposal submitted late last week by Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr to the federal court overseeing Detroit’s bankruptcy is a blueprint for a devastating attack on the working class of the city. The “plan of adjustment” would be better termed the “plan of destruction,” targeting pensions, health care and core public assets, including the world-renowned Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA).

Orr’s plan confirms the central premise of the Workers Inquiry into the Bankruptcy of Detroit held by the Socialist Equality Party on February 15: A crime is being perpetrated, one that is the product of a political conspiracy involving both big business parties and all the institutions of the state.

A New York Times article over the weekend compared, approvingly, what is taking place in Detroit to the restructuring of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Indeed, the devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina was used as an opportunity to depopulate sections of the city and go after basic social rights, including the handing over of public education to for-profit charter schools.

Fear Mongering and Race Baiting is the Order of the Day at Di$info’s Site

by Scott Creighton

UPDATE: Someone posted a video claiming they were already rioting in Miami, but it turns out, it was a bunch of white people in Vancuver  rioting after a hockey game. Mountains were in the background. Yes, the mountains of Miami.

Get ready for the propaganda folks.

UPDATE: The Truth of the matter: “small demonstrations” of “a few dozen people” or so in a “handful of cities” resulting in “no arrests”. I guess Di$info’s “RACE WAR!!!” predictions ala Eric Cartman didn’t pan out.

.

.

but don’t worry everybody, Di$info has some spin for this new development as well…

.

————-

Over at Di$info’s site, the fear mongering is off the chain in the wake of last night’s verdict in the George Zimmerman trial. “BE AFRAID OF ANGRY BLACK PEOPLE!” is the overall message they are pumping out to their mainly white, neoliberal “libertarian” audience. It’s almost as if they are continuing the work of the Obama administration’s Justice Department started by those assets who went down to Sanford over a year ago to stir up racial tension and organize protests. Go figure, huh?

All those riots Pri$on Planet was predicting? All the carnage they are reporting involving that ONE police car? Here’s the real story…

In San Francisco, a march began at 8 p.m. local time (11 p.m. ET) at 24th and Mission Streets, NBCBayArea.com reported.  About 200 people marched down Mission Street, many carrying yellow signs including “the whole system is racist” and “the people say guilty.”

The group dispersed peacefully a little after 10 p.m. local time (1 a.m. ET) with no arrests police said.

Another protest was held in downtown Oakland Saturday night at 14th and Broadway, NBCBayArea.com reported.  Police in riot gear surrounded a crowd, which by the early hours of Sunday numbered fewer than 100, it reported.

Raw video of the protest taken from a helicopter at about 11:30 p.m. local time (1.30 a.m ET) shows a peaceful protest.

Local media reports said some Oakland marchers vandalized a police squad car and police formed a line to block the protesters’ path, according to The Associated Press. NBC News

Does anybody care to remember what Di$info did on the eve of Y2K? “Russian balistic missiles flying over the North Pole” ring any bells?

With “alternative” news like this, who needs the MSM?

Neighbor testifies about Martin-Zimmerman fight

(I lost a few readers on this one as well. I said right off the bat it seemed like Zimmerman had been attacked by Martin after he confronted him for being in the complex. I said he maybe should be tried for involuntary manslaughter, same conclusion one of the detectives came to. But some readers bought into the hype and off they went. )

from the AP

Two neighbors and a police officer gave accounts Friday in George Zimmerman’s murder trial that seemed to bolster the neighborhood watch volunteer’s contention that he was on his back and being straddled by Trayvon Martin during a confrontation with the teen.

Neighbor Jonathan Good said it appeared the unarmed teen was straddling Zimmerman during their confrontation, while another neighbor, Jonathan Manalo, said Zimmerman seemed credible when he said immediately after the fight that he had shot Martin in self-defense. Officer Tim Smith said on the witness stand that Zimmerman’s backside was covered in grass and wetter than his front side.

All three were called as prosecution witnesses on the fifth day of testimony

Aurora Massacre: Kangaroo Court Redefines “Show Trial”

by Scott Creighton

Homeland Security Prosecution: We have found a witch radicalize homegrown extremist, may we burn him?

Judge Carlos A. Samour: How do you know he’s a witch radicalized homegrown extremist?

Homeland Security Prosecution: He LOOKS like one

James: I’m not a witch radicalized homegrown extremist!

Judge Carlos A. Samour: But you are dressed as one.

James: They dressed me up like this.

Homeland Security Prosecution: Ah, no we didn’t. Ok, we did the hair. And the beard. And the thing on his head. And the Hannibal Lecter thing…. but he did turn me into a newt!

Judge Carlos A. Samour: What?

Homeland Security Prosecution: BURN HIM ANYWAY!

real deal

be honest…. Does this make my butt look guilty?

The James Holmes saga is probably one of the most ridiculous pretend prosecutions I’ve ever seen.

The court have already ruled that they can use “truth serum” on the guy as they promise to bring in something like 60 million “witnesses” to say they saw a guy in a gas mask shooting people … and yet there’s not one single clear image of James Holmes in the Century 16 theater that night from the numbers of security cameras at that location.

In a real court of justice, there’s a reason they don’t bring the accused into court dressed up like Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs. It tends  to prejudice the jury in favor of prosecution, thus preventing a fair trial.

But apparently that’s not important in Colorado. Their courts must be interested in something other than justice.

They tried to have little James Holmes manacled and wrapped up like the Butcher of Seville for the upcoming trial but that didn’t fly so the judge decided they would put a restraining harness on James under his cheap suit and literally chain him to a bolted ring on the floor like he was a mad dog.

This is supposed to be a compromise.

Need I remind anyone that the police department who arrested Holmes, found him drugged and out cold in his car behind the theater, and they would have suffered MAJOR losses to police personnel had James not warned them about booby traps set up in his apartment?

Need I remind anyone of the second gas mask found at the end of the building where Holmes could not have been, dropped there by someone who had been reported by witnesses as the gunman as he fled the scene?

Nah, just chain him to the floor like a rabid bear and the prosecution can have Homeland Security standing by with riot guns and armor “just in case” the bailiffs can’t handle a 145 pound kid.

And I know.. we’ll call it “justice”

Fuck it… they’re trying their damnedest to convict this guy in the court of public opinion, they should just bring him into the courtroom in this get-up.

Forget subtle, go for broke. This is America, no one’s paying attention. And if they are, we’ll call ‘em “truthers” and that will shut them up.
