    I find it so strange that Americans are seduced by Romney, the kind of plutocrate that Spanish people are protesting against en masse.

    Back in the late 60s I was part of a crew that went round the country putting up CATV systems. Some of us been to Nam and back, others of us were hiding out from the draft, trying to keep from having to go.

    We were working in Garden City, Kansas. There was an all-Indian rock band, Babe, playing Beatles music at the National Guard Armory. They didn’t break into the place, so they must have been there legally, but some saw it all as an anti-Nam protest. Cops came in to bust things up. I was there just to watch and to listen but I got beat down, then beat up and locked up for fighting back. Got sneered and jeered at as I limped away next day, but I’m still around–still trying to get a lick in on them.

    They were wrong then, and they’re wrong now. We know it, and they know it. That’s one of the reasons they want them charter schools so bad–make those who come after us too dumb to figure it out.
