UPDATE: Reuters sent me a cease and desist letter pertaining to the image of the “rebel” using the woman as a human shield. So I had to replace it with an “artist’s rendering” of the joyous moment…
Like a wounded animal, like a coyote caught in a trap, the Clinton forged destabilization campaign in Syria is flailing about, striking at anything that moves and desperate enough to make any attempt to survive no matter what the cost. And that makes them more desperate and dangerous than ever… which is saying a lot.
(Notice the image to the left. A FSA terrorist is using a Syrian woman as a human shield. NBC published this photo claiming that the guy was “helping her across the street” Obviously he is ducking down trying to keep himself shielded by her rather than shielding her with his body (in which case he would make himself as large as possible to protect her) This is the level of pure evil we are supporting in Syria and a fine example of that evil being propagandized by the complicit media back here. It’s disgusting.)
With the left cover of the pending elections in full bloom and a clearly unstable Hillary Clinton calling the shots, we can only fear for the worst. The talk from the administration is of chemical weapon attacks and full blown unilateral invasion forces numbering over 60,000 troops. If talk like this brings the Gulf of Tonkin to mind, you aren’t the only one.
Over at the once anti-war AntiWar, our friend Jason Ditz (whom we exposed as being a Hasbara megaphony a little while back) is back at it again spinning up purely pro-NATO talking points on the Syrian conflict just like he was doing back before we exposed him. But this time, in his article misleadingly titled “Syrian Deputy PM “Ready to Discuss” Assad Leaving“, instead of unquestioningly parroting Israeli news sources, he’s using a different tact… he’s unquestioningly parroting Saudi “news” sources and apparently deliberately misstating (read as “lying”) about the Syrian peace offer that is currently on the table.
In his propaganda piece which mirrors those printed in Israeli press (this article is almost the exact same spin that Jason uses) and other complicit media rags, Ditz deliberately misrepresents the Syrian position claiming that they acknowledge the crisis is a “civil war” and have given up on the peace process. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Both regime and rebels have mostly abandoned the idea of peace talks in the past several weeks, endorsing the civil war in earnest.” Jason “Hasbara” Ditz
But enough of Jason’s spin… here are the facts.
On Tuesday afternoon Syria’s Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil met with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and others in Moscow to discuss possible solutions to the crisis that has engulfed Syria over the last 14 months or so. In a press conference afterward, Jamil made it clear that they have a good grasp on the Western initiated destabilization campaign that they are facing and that they will have no preconditions going into any peace talks with legitimate actors from inside Syria, as it should be.
Jamil stressed that although there are no preconditions to the talks going in, there are certain principles that must set the stage for the talks to begin, those being… no foreign interference and the terrorist violence (the current tool of Hillary Clinton’s regime change program) must end immediately.
“These principles have become known and are represented in the rejection of (1) foreign interference and (2) violence in all their forms,” Jamil Tuesday Aug 21 2012
Jamil’s position and presumably that of the Syrian government is sound. Take this example into consideration: would the United States inter into negotiations with the Tea Party for instance if Russia was covertly creating terrorist attacks in Florida and Georgia using hired mercenaries from everywhere but the United States, while they were telling the world it was a new legitimate revolution in America? Of course not.
The idea of entering into a discussion with legitimate opposition while they are controlled by an outside force and killing innocent people, essentially and literally committing treason during their terrorist campaign, is an absurd fool’s gambit. Outside forces have no interest in stepping back and letting the Syrians decide the future of the country because the entire reason they are there in the first place is so they can decide. And you don’t reward terrorism and treason, you don’t reward the slaughter of innocent civilians, by bringing them to the table and making offers. That’s not negotiations, that’s surrender.
Obama wouldn’t do it, I wouldn’t do it, you wouldn’t do it. And Syria isn’t going to do it either.
One thing that Jamil and his Russian counterpart made very clear is that there will not be any precondition to concede to Clinton’s regime change plan prior to negotiations. His stance is rock solid: the people of Syria will decide their future and as we all know, Assad’s popularity was pretty high before Clinton’s terrorists started attacking their country and it can only have grown since then.
“Demanding a resignation before the mechanisms will be found for the Syrian people [to express their opinion] – is this a democratic approach? No, that’s an attempt to enforce a certain decision on us,” Jamil
Jamil made it very clear that they understood the latest threat from President Obama is a desperate sign of the West’s failing regime change plan and that it was “linked to the US elections.”. He also made clear the regional implications of the West taking the next step, the warning issued by Obama about chemical weapons.
The West is looking for an excuse for direct intervention. If this excuse does not work, it will look for another excuse… “Those who are contemplating this evidently want to see the crisis expand beyond Syria’s borders.“” Jamil
I myself wrote about Obama’s cryptic warning and presented the same conclusion as Jamil and Lavrov; that some worse form of terrorist attack, chemical, was in the works and could be imminent at this stage as a last ditch effort to create a shift in public opinion toward unilateral military action against the legitimate government of Syria.
President Obama’s illegal threat (and remember, it is illegal and considered an act of terrorism to threaten violence against another country and their people if they do not do what you want) included any use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime OR (remarkably) the movement of those stockpiles by the Syrian government.
Now think about that for a second. Why would he use the pretense of the movement of the chemical weapons as a justification to attack Syria?
I can only see one possible reason for that: the Clinton regime change operation has provided the FSA (read as “al Qaeda”) with intel (as they admit they are providing) that pinpoints the Syrian caches of chemical weapons so they can attack those locations, take the weapons, and then use them in Syria or elsewhere, so the weapons can be traced back to Syria.
So their damned if they do and damned if they don’t. If they look to move them to a new location that the Obama regime doesn’t know about, they attack. If they leave them and somehow the terrorists get a hold of them, they attack.
The desperation the Clinton regime change plan is facing is building and becoming quite public.
The Syrian army (and the people as well) have driven the foreign backed terrorist out of Damascus and Allepo alike. The terrorists are now reduced to little hit-and-run campaigns, attacking small unprotected villages and killing those civilians who support the current government.
It wasn’t difficult to work out just how the fighting in Aleppo is developing. Walking the streets for more than an hour with a Syrian army patrol, individual snipers would shoot from houses and then disappear before government soldiers arrived…
At least a dozen civilians emerged from their homes, retirees in their 70s, shopkeepers and local businessmen with their families and, unaware that a foreign journalist was watching, put their arms round Syrian troops. One told me he had stayed in his home as “foreign” fighters used his courtyard to fire on government soldiers…
So many Aleppo citizens talked to me, out of earshot of soldiers, about armed “foreigners” in their streets along with Syrians “from the countryside” that the presence of considerable numbers of non-Syrian gunmen appeared to be true” Robert Fisk, Aug 21 2012
Ten days ago, Iran hosted a meeting between 30 countries looking to find a peaceful solution to the destabilization campaign in Syria. Countries like Russia, China, India, and even Pakistan attended and as it was aptly pointed out by Webster Tarpley, the populations of those nations standing in support of a reasonable and peaceful solution to the situation in Syria represents more than 2/3rds of the world population.
Of course, the Obama administration can’t acknowledge what the rest of the world sees and instead chooses to pour gas on the fire. Notice the remarkable hypocrisy in their public statement which isn’t even noticed by the “liberal” paper the New York Times. Lest we forget how much the Times helped gin up justification for the illegal Iraq invasion for the previous administration. Apparently war, any war, is preferable to peace when it comes to the Times.
The White House dismissed the Iran meeting. “I think there is no evidence that Iran has been playing a constructive role in Syria — in fact, quite to the contrary,” Jay Carney, President Obama’s spokesman, told reporters in response to a question about the meeting. He reiterated the American contention that “Iran has been engaged in an effort to prop up Assad as he brutally murders his own people.” New York Times
The administration’s propaganda on the war is falling apart as well. The German Parliament conducted an inquiry which revealed at least 90 terrorist attacks carried out by the so-called “Free Syrian Army” and their mercenary al Qaeda linked assets. A recent investigation from a well established German paper proved that the Houla Massacre was carried out by the opposition forces and not by the Assad regime as had been reported by the likes of the Hasbara megaphonies at AntiWar. Recent videos show the Clinton backed terrorists torturing and executing various citizens in Syria with brutal resolve much like the video of the murder of Daniel Pearl.
People are generally coming to understand what is happening in Syria. The sheltered American citizens are starting to understand the shear brutality our Peace Prize President is capable of and the lies that keep that fact hidden.
But access to the Syrian army can sometimes produce a factoid more powerful than statistics. Ahmed, a 21-year-old conscript, tells me how his brother, Private Mohammed Ibrahim Dout, was “martyred” by a sniper. His comrade says: “We are sorry for our brother soldier, but he is now in paradise.” A General tells me of a friend, a Lieutenant in the full-time Syrian army in the Damascus suburb of Douma: “He was married three months ago and was walking to his home in Douma when some men in a van greeted him and offered him a lift.” Lieutenant Assem Abbas, 23, accepted the gesture in good faith.
“We found him later,” the General says, “cut into two pieces and thrown into a sewage tank.” Robert Fisk, Aug 22 2012
With so much at stake, the entire “New Middle East” plan involving overthrowing and occupying “7 countries in 5 years”, the powers that run this country are hardly ready to concede this fight. Not while they still have their Manchurian Candidate in place normalizing the Global Free Market Wars for the left.
“[w]hat we’re seeing here [in regards to the destruction of Lebanon and the Israeli attacks on Lebanon], in a sense, is the growing—the ‘birth pangs’—of a ‘New Middle East’ and whatever we do we [meaning the United States] have to be certain that we’re pushing forward to the New Middle East [and] not going back to the old one.” Condi Rice
“Gen Westley Clark explains how there was a plan to invade and take over 7 countries in 5 years. He was told, “we have a good military AND we can take down governments“…. the plan was revealed to Clark right after we first started bombing Afghanistan and it went like this; Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, …Iran.” Scott Creighton
So they will continue to set the pieces in place across the Grand Chessboard in their ongoing effort to further weaken China and Russia. And they will continue to smooth over the political wrinkles at home as much as they can till they can stage yet another New Pearl Harbor event to create their much needed pretext and silence the growing chorus of dissent.
On December 31, 2011, President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), codifying indefinite military detention without charge or trial into law for the first time in American history. The NDAA’s dangerous detention provisions would authorize the president — and all future presidents — to order the military to pick up and indefinitely imprison people captured anywhere in the world, far from any battlefield. So close to their goals and desperate are they, their snarling and snapping causes the pretense to be cast aside with the fading mask of their humanity. So it falls to the propagandists and the cowards to maintain the tattered illusion under which we dwell.
The best we can do is tell the truth, expose the liars, and cling to what we still refuse to forget; that the better angels of our nature are still with us and worth fighting for.
The men who create power make an indispensable contribution to the Nation’s greatness, but the men who question power make a contribution just as indispensable, especially when that questioning is disinterested, for they determine whether we use power or power uses us.
