What is left out is probably more telling:
This nation has invaded or attempted terrorist regime change operations in 50 nations since WWII making the United States the “Greatest purveyor of violence” in the world according to MLK Jr.
Our leaders arraigned for the murder of one president, the murder of a would-be president, the murder of the greatest human rights activist of all time, and the attempted murder of another president so his vice president could take command.
There are currently efforts to repeal child labor laws in America.
There are currently prisoners working for slave wages for various industries in America and the number of them are growing by the day because slavery is so profitable.
Millions of children will go to be hungry tonight while pundits on both the left and the right try to impress upon the American viewership that the poor are hurting America and people get what they deserve.
Not only have we forgotten that we used to be informed by courageous journalists who literally fought for the truth and the story regardless of fame and material wealth, but in reality, what used to be is no more… used to be they had to buy reporters and editors in stealth. They had to hide payoffs and have their mouthpieces write slogans and propaganda in such a way as to keep the other reporters, real reporters from exposing them as paid shills, collaborators. They had to do it in stealth otherwise they would lose credibility and thus they would lose their marketability to the papers and their various clients. But now, the world is totally flipped. The honest journalist, the truth teller, is marginalized is demonized, is routed from the profession and attacked at every turn by the multitudes of “whatever it takes” sycophantic stenographers just looking to prove their loyalty to “the party”.
We torture, our leaders lie, they look to pass laws allowing them to commit crimes like insider trading and other laws allowing the federal government to lie to us “for our own good”
We know that our government is beyond corrupt, they are killing, torturing, imprisoning innocent men, women, and even children at will and yet we keep waiting… waiting for something that we know will never come while we hope against all hope that our glorious leaders won’t turn their savage greed against us.
But they will and they are.
We know our armies are being abused, forced to deliver abuse and death for corporate and banking reasons to people who have done us no harm and yet we post “support the troops” stickers on our bloated gas guzzling cars and admonish ANY who dare question the purpose our our great wars.
Yes, these statistics in the video are bad, but do they expose the truth about this country or do they simply placate the misanthropic masses into thinking they are seeing and hearing something “real” something “honest”?
What is the honest evaluation of this country? Is this video it? another “West Wing” show about how “wonderful” we are because we can look at ourselves like this?
I wonder if this show will talk about HOW we got here and WHO took us down this road. I wonder. I doubt it.
The most “honest” three and a half minutes of television ever? No. There are much better choices.

Well, according to a report on CLG News this AM, they were singing Bye-Bye Miss American Pie while they squeezed Hellfire missiles off their Apache onto a group of Afghans.
The report just above that report talks about something called PredPol, “the latest piece of policing technology working it’s way into law-enforcement stations around the country.” It’s supposed to predict crimes.
They’ll never get called to account for their killing, only their singing. Still, makes me wonder what they’ll be singing when the glorious ones order them to unload on criminals like us, and those close around us.
For sure, they’ll be singing, the rascals. That’s just who they are, how they do.

I sing when washing dishes sometimes…. or day dream of other things… makes an unpleasant job pass quicker…..

This is why I hate moments like this. These shows and what not always give just enough to begin to make a difference, but never enough to deliver the crucial, if dark and brutal, truths that NEED TO BE STATED!

the studios, TV, broadcast medium are censored, all they do is keep people stuck in the corrupt 2 party dichotomy. the MSM and Alex Jones specialize in divide and conquer …The problem with most radio is the hosts reinforce the status quo, even while pretending to be against it. It is just incredible that Alex Jones would try to discredit Wikileaks just as revelations by Assange hit newstands. Assange is obviously trying to stop violence by releasing the cables.

Second point – NeoCon warmongers have become more stealthy in their perception management to convince the public to accept bombing people into democracy. Al Jazeera had a story on before they became NATO pro-war lackeys. It claimed in other countries like Pakistan it was common practice for stand up comics to accept payola ( who would be the payer i wonder?) for injecting pro-establishment political viewpoints into their act. Endless public money and private PR efforts have been put into brainwashing everyone to love war, hate muslims, or mexicans etc. I am so angry at Bill Maher for his co-operation in the dumbing down, anti-Koran, indoctrination, or his scoffing at people who wanted universal coverage blaming them for “abusing the healthcare system” especially now in this age of Big Brother where the Anonymous hacker turned out to be an FBI informant. I believe that you fail to perceive the symbolism and point of view that is being expressed by the introductory three minutes.
I believe that you are doing so because you are looking for a source of factual information to be located in something that it is not.
I believe that your options for a good three minutes of airtime, however they don’t truly depict the view point on our nation today. To compare the Former President’s address to the authored speech of a television show is unfair because the two are not equal, they are of two different realms, two COMPLETELY different time periods. The referenced time period of reminiscence on the show, of when men were good and honest, could very well be from four, five, six presidents ago. Who knows, it’s speculation. I believe that the point that is trying to be made is that the managers , not leaders, of this nation have lost sight of the ” why this county was founded ” and sadly exposing the truth, with fictitious facts and figures, of our truthful shortcomings when considering global clout and quality of life. I have served my country, I love my country, but I also liked the Buffalo Bills when they couldn’t win a Super Bowl. There are clear and definite problems with our nation and the mindsets of many that need to be corrected. But that’s just me.
