So, I came back to see him (in the Pentagon) a few weeks later (October of 2001) and by that time we were bombing in Afghanistan and I said “Are we still going to war with Iraq?” and he said “It’s worse than that.” He said.. he reached over on his desk and he picked up a piece of paper and he said “I just got this down from upstairs today..” meaning the Secretary of Defense’s office… and he said “this is a memo that describes how we are going to take out 7 countries in 5 years.. starting with Iraq, then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and finishing off Iran.Gen. Westley Clark

When every single MSM “news” outlet is on the same page, reporting “activist said” unsubstantiated propaganda pertaining to Libya, Somalia and Syria as unquestionable fact, the current administration is free to do whatever they want with no fear of reprisal from their so-called “progressive” supporters. That means the Obama administration of “CHANGE” is able to openly continue yet another horrendous and illegal policy of the Bush administration, the neoliberalization of several state centered nations, unencumbered by the inherent restrictions of democracy ie the “will of the people” who would never support premeditated invasions and occupations of other nations for the express interests of multinational corporations and financial institutions.

Just as the complicit corporatist media assisted the Bush regime in manufacturing consent for the illegal invasion of Iraq, they are doing the exact same thing now under the Obama administration as they openly continue to fulfill the “7 countries in 5 years” agenda set so long ago.

What was once “weapons of mass destruction” is now “the right to protect” but notice the similarities between those two justifications: neither actually requires anything to have happened: no real threat to exist. They are both preemptive in nature, expressing a perceived threat supported by a carefully contrived MSM consensus, therefore they are both justifying all out war as an answer to “atrocities” that have yet to happen. As in the case with Iraq we all know there were no WMDs and in the case of Libya we also know Gadhafi’s airstrikes on the demonstrators in Benghazi never happened nor did he provide Viagra to his soldiers so they could rape the women of his country. These things never existed except in the minds of the propagandists who lusted for war and the pages of the complicit media who repeated these claims no matter how ridiculous.

“However, the success “The Libyan Model” will have the unintentional effect—certainly no fault of the Libyan people—of increasing the momentum for more overt and covert interventions utilizing a combination of drones, missile strikes, special forces and the CIA. Indeed, Libya represents a confluence of (predominantly but not exclusively) neo-liberal foreign policy, the CIA’s increased war-fighting capabilities and liberal hawks pushing for the U.S. and the U.N. to formally adopt the “Responsibility to Protect” (RtoP) norm.

The effects of neoliberalism on foreign policy under George W. Bush have been well-documented and I will not address them here. But the militarization of the CIA is relatively newIn These Times

I first started writing about the trending “activist said” “journalism” regarding Syria back in June of 2011. The trend continues and even increases in frequency because it’s a crucial part of the new “successful” model of forced regime change that people like Leon Panetta and Samantha Powers wholeheartedly support. Notice that most of these stories are usually accompanied by a legal disclaimer stating that the news agency cannot verify their own reports.

“… activists said… Activists said… said one activist who declined to be named…  Activists say… The activist who declined to be named said… whom activists say…” Reuters June 3 2011

“…. activists said… an activist named Kamal told Reuters… Activists said earlier on Sunday…” MSNBC Jan 30th 2012

“CNN cannot verify reports from Syria… ” CNN

“Al Jazeera cannot independently verify reports from Syria…” Al Jazeera

“Reuters is unable to verify the accuracy of these reports…” Reuters

“Samantha Power, President Obama’s Senior Director and Special Assistant for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights and major supporter for the “Responsibility to Protect” (RtoP) norm.” ITT

“… Leon Panetta described the Libya coalition as “the kind of partnership and alliances that we need to have for the future.” Foreign Policy

Think of the circular nature of this new model they have created. These “activists” in Libya, Iran, and Syria are run by the CIA and the State Department as targeted destabilization campaigns. They commit acts of terrorism targeting civilians and police in order to cause chaos and fear among the population and then they give “unconfirmed” reports to our media about the crimes of regimes the West wants to replace. Then the media uses those reports to manufacture consent of the governed to allow the CIA and the State Department to invade and overthrow those countries.

It’s kinda funny when you think about it. The CIA hands the script to the terrorists who then hand it to the media who then hands it to us and we hand over our unquestioning support to the CIA.

"We told them we had the "right to protect" and they bought it!"

Under the Obama administration the lines between the CIA, State Department, and the military have become more than just blurred, they have been completely erased. Hillary has her own little private army of mercenaries, the former CIA director now runs the Defense Department, and an “ass kissing little chicken-shit” who sucked ass all the way to the upper command heights of the U.S. military has been installed as the CIA director.

The CIA is running the cowardly and immoral drone campaign in various countries (Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Libya) like they used to help 3rd world dictators set up their death squads. The purpose is to remove the kinds of people who will oppose their efforts to remake the targeted country in their neoliberal model.

They shuffle around members of terrorist organizations like marbles in a game of Chinese checkers, attacking different sections of the board from the same angle all at once. They arm al Qaeda, Bokop Harem,  and the MEK with no regard for political or physical blow-back from these proven monsters and murderers.

When Obama put CIA director Panetta in charge of the Pentagon, what he was doing was effectively merging the two departments under one director and propping up the sycophant Petraeus (Betrayus) as the empty suit puppet to Penetta’s invisible hand.

After that merger all they needed was a complicit media made up of career minded stenographers who possessed naturally incurious natures who would never dream of putting something as outdated as journalistic integrity ahead of their own materialistic ambitions.

And thus the new model of “activists said” journalism was created and continues to this day. As a result, Libya has fallen to the propagandists, the CIA backed terrorists, the neoliberal Chicago School economists, and a barrage of multi-ton high explosive bombs dropped by Obama’s “coalition of the willing”, NATO.

Syria is next on the list with Iran already targeted for a similar project in the near future.

This successful model of theirs, this highly profitable formula of manufactured consent (Yellow Journalism) for neo-liberal regime change, can only be challenged by the citizen journalists but there are far too few of us left to make a dent it seems.

As the CIA, the State Department, the Pentagon, and the media blend into one imperialist weapon of mass distortion and the Obama administration and congress pass a bill that includes the United States as part of the new combat zone for their Global War on Terror, one has to wonder just how long it will be before CNN’s “activist said” journalistic standards are used to target and destabilize us as well.

If they continue to get away with it, it’s only a matter of time. The absence of accountability has a certain gallows predictability to it. The more they get, the more they want.

  1. The Globalist agenda is obvious and a 10 year old-once off of Fluoride – can see it by reading between the lines. Hey, I appreciate your work, but when you research into the not so obvious stuff: the ingredients in Chemtrails, the real effects of GMO food, ect. You start to see this is warfare and we are the enemy targeted for destruction.
The line from the movie Alien comes to mind: That’s it man, game over man, game over!

  2. I don’t get it. From Nam to now, how did it happen?

Somehow, by carrot or club, they got the top brass of the MSM to come over–the whole lot of them! From heroes to sell-outs from then till now! Hard to believe it could happen that fast–that they could bring this kind of shame to their institution in a person’s lifetime. Like, I remember when…

Anyway, it’s done. They let it happen. Fuck them.

  3. Oh, the list.

Well, if we’re not already on that one, you can bet the house we’re on another one. That’s what I feel like I’m doing, sometimes anyway–betting the house by hanging around here. Feels good, though–like in doing what’s necessary feels good.

Another thing I’d bet the house on…well, the same thing, actually–that you’re making more than just a dent.

  4. Pakistan woman blogger laments drone killings being swept under the rug, as their U.S. puppet leadership there gets caught lying that it was Pakistani jets killing civillians when they were in fact US drones, secret deals between Washington and the puppets/Presidents, killed Benazir Bhutto, the first bombing of Mumbai in India to draw that country into the war on terror and on the the side of the U.S. in order drive a wedge beween the nations and 250,00 innocent Pashtuns running away from the Swat valley where TAPI IS GOING but must be relocated to make room for the pipeline, all the while the stupid 2 year GOP debates mthe 1992 Newt is a villian Dem scares for the herd to listen to distraction, to censor news with 9 dittohead warmonger candidates who all say the same thing, and (see Howard Dean silenced by ten Democrat dittoheads in 2004 and sidelined by “kill the terrorist” CFR man John Kerry)the scream and”Dean was not Presidential” repeated a thousand times, fix the primaries etc. Scapegoat Iran when NeoCon Iraq disaster fails and scapegoat Pakistan when Afghanistan goes bad, same shit different year. Recycle nuke threat from Bush in Iraq to Obama and Iran. Fears of China is the evil with the Hollywood photos staged Dali Lama/ Richard Gere free tibet psyop, and darfur proxy wars w/George Clooney (send your money) sponsored by USAid/Africom to plunder oil, kill somalians for oil, and Angelina photos w/ victorious Libyan murderers on Yahoo.com. (on and on) Yeah, Peace and Justice!

    • Mr. Ted you are absolutely right. The US media made it look like Pakistani jets killing civilians; but they were in fact US drones. The US is so fast on critiquing Assad for 6,000 civilians among which the so called peaceful protestors killed 3,000 soldiers. The US was the first to report its deep sorrow for Benazir Bhutto death, yet they are the ones who orchestrated her death. It’s unbelievable a mirror with two faces. The US soldier Frank Wuterich will serve no time for Iraq killings of 24 Iraqi civilians in the city of Haditha. He was instead demoted, that’s all!! These were people too…

  5. It’s breath of fresh air reading your articles Mr. Scott Creighton.
Galioun’s militia doing ethnic cleansing. They killed two families in Homs because they refused to leave the building. They killed a priest and two nouns in a convent. All in the name of freedom. Don’t forget all media networks portray them as peaceful protestors… Please come and see for yourself. They hanged the witness who testified against Galioun’s militia during the Arab league tour in the city. The list goes on and on. Family members begged for help just to reach the corpses. Why CNN refusing to the see the other side of the mirror? Who killed the French reporter? The opposition claiming it was a mistake but at first they’ve tried to frame Syria’s official army. Thank God other reporters witnessed the event and spoke the truth. What did Sarkozy do about it or the EU who originally wanted a detailed and official investigation from the Syrian government. Once the reality kicked in, I don’t see anyone trying to gain justice for Gilles Jacquier. How come his own country is not asking Galioun the father of the protest to be accountable, especially that Galioun resides in France. Food for thoughts….

  6. Syria comment blog posted very good article about Syria
called: Where In The Tunnel Are We? – By Ehsani
Tuesday, January 31st, 2012. The author visited Syria two weeks ago. I’m just stating few parts of the article as it’s long.
    <>
Ehsani: If Damascus decides to end the Homs insurgency and use its full might, how many people would die?

    Soldier: 50,000

Ehsani: What about all of Syria?

Soldier: 100,000. Presently, we have orders not to shoot. We gain little by shooting as the guns will be grabbed by others and the anger will ensure that many more join the revolution. Our unit is one of the weakest. Damascus could easily replace us with stronger divisions if the objective were to take over these neighborhoods and kill the armed elements. This is what I expect will happen at some stage, however.
