The Politics of Envy

When you lose your home to shifty finance companies that lied you into a loan you couldn’t afford and then hired on robosigning companies to speed the illegal process of stealing your home, when your career moves overseas because the company you work for cut a deal with D.C. to give them tax breaks to do it after one free-trade agreement after the other was ramrodded through congress, when your pension fund invested in a worthless bundle of shit peddled by Goldman Sachs evaporates before you can claim it and they got richer betting against your future, when the racketeers of Wall Street strike a deal with the GOP and the DNC to drain your Social Security savings and privatize everything from public schools to the post office to the Medicare you will depend on when you are too old and tired to labor for their profits anymore, when presidential administrations barter with Enron and insurance companies and fuel companies and telecoms to drive prices through the roof, then they bail out the bankers and the hedge funds that created the havoc we all live in today… when all that happens and you complain that the system is rigged for their benefit and to your impediment… then you are simply envious, jealous of what they’ve got.

You are the problem.

In the Land of Blood and Honey: Hollywood Has Become Pure Propaganda

A couple weeks ago I wrote about the Christopher Noland Batman series where he remakes every comic book villain into some kind of domestic homegrown terrorist with his last offering looking to make the 99% the last of his “bad guys” for the Batman to beat down.

In the Land of Blood and Honey is a film by A. Jolie, another Hollywood silver-spooner born into her leading role via her famous daddy. This film is set in Bosnia and it completely rewrites the history of that conflict started by the Clinton administration much like they are doing now in Libya and Syria by bringing in extremists (in that case as in the recent ones, it was the radical arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, then run by a guy named Osama bin Laden) to destabilize the nation targeted for regime change. The terrorists set off on a bloody campaign killing many officials and police officers as well as Serbian citizens which the Clinton administration then used to justify regime change as they are doing now in various countries.

A bus carrying a group of foreign journalists who were allowed into Syria to see for themselves what has been happening was attacked with several grenades today killing 2 of them and as many as 6 Syrian citizens. Gilles Jacquier was one of the journalists who reportedly died.

“According to a reporter who was on the media trip, the group was hit by several grenades. As many as six Syrian civilians also were killed, but the figure could not be confirmed, activists said. [...] The circumstances of Wednesday’s violence were unclear, but reporter Jens Franssen said he was among about 15 journalists who were taken on a tour of the city. “At some point, three or four (grenade) shells hit, very close to us,” he told the Belgian VRT network.” Huffington Post

Notice that he says “shells” which is changed by the author of the piece to “grenades”. Shells and grenades carry vastly different implications, but we won’t go into that now.
