Holding to his traditional role as “left” mouthpiece for the neoliberal status quo and the Obama/Rahm/Clinton/AIPAC junta, Jon Stewart ( born Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz) ambushed Rod Blagojevich on his show the other night after Blago beat out 23 of 24 trumped-up charges .
You think he would congratulate him, but instead he made a joke out of it and then tried to convict him in the court of public “left” opinion.
One of those charges Blago beat was “trying to sell the Illinois Senate seat” Obama had vacated. Unbelievably, this charge remains after Barack Obama’s own investigation found that Blagojevich did NOT try to “sell the senate seat”. Yet Jon Stewart completely ignores all the facts surrounding the case and steadily berates Blagojevich, eventually stooping to insinuation that his guest was a “sociopath”
Blago stands wrongly accused of trying to sell the senate seat, still. Which is unbelievable since Obama’s own investigation has revealed that neither Blagojevich or his people tried to work a deal for the senate seat.
“The accounts support your statement on December 11, 2008 that you “have never spoken to the Governor on this subject [or] about these issues,” and that you “had no contact with the Governor’s office.” In addition, the accounts contain no indication of inappropriate discussions with the Governor or anyone from his office about a “deal” or a quid pro quo arrangement in which he would receive a personal benefit in return for any specific appointment to fill the vacancy.” Transition Staff Contacts with the Governor’s Office, Dec. 2008

Now you would think they might drop that charge after the Obama administration admitted that Blago didn’t try to “sell the senate seat” in public but since they really had nothing else, and since the MSM tried their best to bury that part of the story, I suppose they ran with it anyway. Jon Stewart seemed to “forget’ all about that little factoid himself…

The definition of a sociopath is as follows: “a person, as a psychopathic personality, whose behavior is antisocial and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience.”
Stewart claimed Blago could be a sociopath because he had claimed he would take the stand and testify, but after seeing the weak case presented by the prosecution, he did not.
Is that the definition of a sociopath?
Interestingly, Jon Stewart has had on his show Marc Thiessen, Douglas Feith, John Yoo, John Bolton, Henry Kissinger, M. Albreight, and Rudolph Giuliani to name a few, but he never called any of them a “sociopath” to my knowledge. He never even suggested they could be a sociopath if they don’t testify in open court, whatever that means.
Kind of an odd behavioral pattern for a “liberal” isn’t it?
At one point Jon Stewart is forced to admit that Patrick Fitzgerald overhyped the evidence and the charges against Blago at the time of the arrest, but then just simply leaves it at that and goes on to harp on the same “why didn’t you testify” rant he used throughout the interview.
Well, the implications of an out of control prosecution for political purposes are magnified now that the jury has returned their verdict and the evidence didn’t hold up and yet that important aspect of this story seems beyond Jon’s comprehension…
…Both columns noted that Fitzgerald was violating ethics guidelines. The Justice Department requires that prior to a trial a “prosecutor shall refrain from making extrajudicial comments that pose a serious and imminent threat of heightening public condemnation of the accused.” The US district court for northern Illinois mandates that a “lawyer shall not make an extrajudicial statement the lawyer knows or reasonably should know is likely to be disseminated by public media and, if so disseminated, would pose a serious and imminent threat to the fairness of an adjudicative proceeding.”…
…The frenzy to remove Blagojevich from office as soon as possible is also remarkable….
…If there is a political motivation in the charges against Blagojevich, however, this could well involve a desire to protect a more important Democrat—President-elect Barack Obama. At least one top Obama aide, Congressman Rahm Emanuel of Chicago, Obama’s choice for White House chief of staff, was in contact with Blagojevich about the selection of Obama’s successor in the Senate… WSWS
During the entire segment, Stewart’s demeanor is adversarial from the start to the last. He even plays a clip designed to make it look like Blago has something to hide and the insinuation of course being that he is guilty as charged.
Remarkably, Blago remained calm and cordial during the majority of the interview as Stewart continued to harp on one point over and over again, that Rod didn’t take the stand like he “promised” he would do. Somehow Rod Blagojevich doesn’t deserve the same rights against self-incrimination that the rest of us enjoy I suppose. I guess that is the case when a talking head mouthpiece is trying to find any avenue possible to bludgeon the reputation of a man who just handed the corrupt Obama/Rahm/Clinton regime a stellar loss.
When Blago tried to point out that the courts wouldn’t allow all the tapes into the court proceedings only 2% of them, Stewart cut him off and didn’t follow-up on it. When Stewart played an additional 5 seconds of a tape that had Blago making claims about “parachuting” himself into the senate seat, he would not do as Blago asked and play the remainder of the tape in which Blago claims he goes on to talk about getting deals for healthcare and so forth for Illinois out of the deal.
What Jon Stewart did was propaganda, pure and simple. It was an effort to undercut the positive public perception of Rod Blagojevich that would naturally occur after he beat the trumped-up charges leveled at him by Rahm Emanuel, the Obama administration, and the prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald.
This was a hit-piece. The irony of all this, of calling for complete and full disclosure (and testimony) from Blago, is that whenever Jon Stewart has one of the old neoconservative war-criminals on to help them remake their images and sell books, he NEVER goes after them the way he just went after a guy who was basically prosecuted for telling Bank of America they had to live up to the deal they made with the TARP bailout or lose all the contracts they held with the state of Illinois. And THAT, my friends, is a fact.

This was filmed at a press conference the day before Rahm and Pat Fitzgerald sprang into action and of course, Think Progress reported that it was Rahm who called Fitzgerald to get him to move on Blago in the first place (presumably after BOA paniced and called Rahm after the press conference)
Think Progress reports that a Chicago reporter has said that it may have been Rahm Emanuel that “tipped off” law enforcement (IE “snitched Blago out”). And now, Obama is also going on record saying “he” personally had no contact with Blago about this issue, but he isn’t saying his staff didn’t… so far… OBAMA: “I had no contact with the governor or his office so we were not…ahh ahhh ahhh… I ..was not aware of what was happening.”

comedy is an extremely effective vehicle for the delivery of propaganda… one’s defenses are down.
Well it is a comedy show – but you are the ones getting all angry and using words like “go fuck your selfs”. I Think it is more sad that programs that claims to be news are messing around with the truth. If i (and i guess you too) was innocent you will testify and what ever to clear your name.

I used to watch jon stewart on you tube. I don’t even bother any more. He’s just another showman like limpballs or geraldo, (who I knew when I lived in malibu). They all just wanna be stars and are whore mongers for media attention. Without their makeup and teleprompters, they’re just empty shells trying to pretend to be human. Kinda like obama, yes? They’re all like hermit crabs – when their shell get’s too small – they just go out and take a bigger one… even if they have to kick out the current inhabitant

I saw a We Are Change video (not a big fan, but they do try at least) where they approached Blago after some event and mentioned the Bank of America side to all of this.
Blago’s head had been down signing stuff but as soon as he heard them mention it, he perked up and started talking to ‘em about it.
I guess he is smart enough to know if he opens his mouth about it live on the air, they will really mke things bad for him (things could always get worse I suppose)
At that point in time, right after the TARP handouts, the Banks couldn’t allow a lowly govenor to force them to hand over profit margins to the people (like was stipulated in the TARP bill)
They knew that there was going to be a prolonged depression (they created) and the handouts were designed from the beginning to keep them afloat during the bad times and allow them to buy up more banks to consolodate power.
They also knew that the politico establishment and the people that run this country were depending on the credit crunch to collapse the system thus creating the disaster which would allow them to impose the IMF austerity measures on the country.
So they couldn’t allow Blago to get away with what he was doing, nor could the neoliberal Obama/Clinton/Rahm White House.
They made an example of him, just like they did with Prime Minister Rudd of Austrailia…

Yes, I’ve gone off topic again. My point was not that Blago was caught in a quid pro quo with Obama, but I noticed the thing Blagojevich said would entice him: Secretary of Health and Human Services. I wonder aloud why that would be so attractive an offer. Hmmm, there is some history of using healthcare for yet another organized crime profit center. What has been happening at Illinois level is being taken national. That was my point. Other than that, I think Blagojevich is an adorable mobster and I might write him in in the 2012 presidential.
Obama is thinking of bombing Iran to get campaign contributions from Israel fanatics but that is perfectly legal. Blagojevich seems to have been talking to his wife, his brother and his aid about campaign contributions that he didn’t get and thats a crime.
I think the only “crime’ he committed was sticking his finger in the “all seeing eye” (think Mordor) of Bank of America…

I have a fair amount of sympathy with Jon Stewart and I find he does a great job skewering the talking heads of the US political scene. He doesn’t claim to be running a news program but rather a satirical comedy talk show. Based on previous segments, it can’t have been a surprise where this interview was going to go and yet Blagojevich agreed to appear within days of being found guilty, in Federal court of lying to the FBI. Brave or foolish?

As for Sumner Redstone, I can imagine a time when being called Rothstein would close doors in America rather than open them. I imagine he definitely tried to hide his religion and that he thought this was a way to cope with the institutionalized racism that characterized the US right up until the civil rights movement made those people look like trash. I don’t judge. Clearly you do.
But running through all this seems to be your clear opinion that if these men were both born to Jewish mothers, they must share a political agenda that is pro-Israel and anti-Muslim. then he goes on to spend much of the segment joking about “baby fighting rings” and North Korea launching nukes at us.
That is basic jist of the segment and by that time, probably 500 or so Palestinian civilians had been killed in an illegal attack. But its all fun and games, right?

And he did post a few Actors who changed their names…… but my reasoning was that Jon Stuart is a nice name…. so why change to jon stewart…. so copycatish….. I just had a little fun with guessing why he choose ‘Stewart’.

Trouble is, it’s from MEMRI TV which is an Israeli propaganda mill who have been caught several times mistranslating Palestinian shows for the purpose of making people hate them.
IT’S PURE PROPAGANDA… and it was shown on Jon Stewart’s show and then posted up on the Huffington Post to make sure as many “progressives” saw the bullshit as possible.

Personally, I believe in a two state solution based on the green line borders established in the June 1967 agreement, and quite frankly, so does MOST of the rest of the world.
