Last week the reports quoting ”anonymous senior officials” couldn’t have been more wrong; China did not end up endorsing the Hilary Clinton pro-war talking point that North Korea was responsible for sinking the Cheonan. Perhaps we should stop quoting the lies of our anonymous “senior officials” before we let them start another war for profit.
Last week, senior U.S. officials said after holding talks in Beijing that China is likely to gradually endorse the view that North Korea should be held accountable. They spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the discussions. Fox News May 30 2010
China made it very clear that they would not support any nation who attacked and sank the PCC-772 Cheonan on March 26, killing 46 ROKS sailors. Today it is being reported that after the weekend trilateral talks with Japan and South Korea, China is all-but rejecting the findings of the American led investigation that faulted North Korea for the attack based on what has been readily proved to be rather flimsy and probably fraudulent evidence.
Russia has also made it clear that they do not support those findings. Neither country, China or Russia, seems to be willing to support submitting a resolution for sanctions to the United Nations blaming North Korea for the sinking of the Cheonan and at least in one case they point out that doing that before the Security Council would “bring more questions (about the incident) than answers”. That says a lot.
One article goes so far as to suggest even the South Korean president, President Lee, may be taking a different stance on this issue, at least while he is with the Chinese and the Japanese delegations.
China’s premier said Sunday that tensions over the sinking of a South Korean warship urgently need to be diffused, but did not join other key nations in blaming longtime ally North Korea and gave no indication he would support U.N. sanctions. MSNBC May 30th 2010
President Lee said South Korea will take appropriate steps to address the naval tragedy in close partnership with China and Japan. However, he stopped short of blaming North Korea. The Korea Times May 30 2010
China’s premier said Sunday that avoiding conflict between the Koreas over the sinking of a warship is most urgent, but did not express support for a bid by South Korea and Japan to condemn North Korea at the United Nations for allegedly carrying out the attack. Fox News May 30 2010
“Even if this issue is introduced for a UN Security Council decision, it [the council] will be reserved,” another expert on Korea, Georgy Toloraya, said, adding that the issue would not involve international sanctions. “Introducing this issue to the UN Security Council for discussion will bring about more questions than answers,” Leshakov added. RIANOVOSTI May 27 2010
Though the situation is certainly far from being defused, with the looming threat of U.N. sanctions apparently now “off the table” due to the two Security Council veto holding nations rejecting Hilary Clinton’s “overwhelming” evidence, perhaps the U.S. instigated tensions on the Korean peninsula can start to subside. Hopefully we will see North and South Korea begin a speedy stand-down from their war posture before a silly incident provides War-Monger Clinton another opportunity to beat her familiar drums.
This is very good news for people all over the world, not just in Korea. Though we are seeing some smattering of news reports on this issue here in the U.S., what we aren’t seeing, what we should be seeing, is an internal investigation into how the Secretary of State of the United States of America came away from her own observations of the “investigation” with such a convoluted conclusion that is being widely rejected world-wide.
What we should see is a real investigation into the sinking of the PCC-772 Cheonan in order to determine who was really responsible for the taking of 46 South Korean lives.
What we should see happen in this country is an investigation into Hilary Clinton’s involvement in the South Korean investigation and all of her subsequent war-mongering that has taken place afterwards.
How can any U.S. citizen feel comfortable knowing that such a loose cannon is running around the world, representing our nation, looking to provoke open war-fare with such little regard for human life and the truth in general in our name?
That is what should happen in the United States, but I am afraid it won’t. The Clintons own the Democratic Party and they rule it with a corrupt iron fist of biblical proportions.
As an American with a conscience, all I can say to the people of South and North Korea is the same thing I say to the people of Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Honduras, Columbia, Mexico, Palestine, and Haiti… I’m sorry.

Marry me, willyloman.
Seriously, on behalf of all Asian countries, may I respectfully request that the American people float all your Democrats and Republicans out to sea and start over again with 3rd-party candidates? And then clone Ralph Nader and send us a few copies.
Honestly, when I see the idiotic posturing of the Obama administration on this NK/SK event, I just want to hit them all with sticks. The last bloody thing Asia needs is a war.
what we could do is put all the democrats and republicans on a big boat, tell them it’s a party being hosted by the bankers and the owners of BP and WalMart…
then ship ‘em all down to Thailand or Indonesia and force them to work for the rest of their lives in the sweat-shops they helped create. Let their fate be a constant reminder to whomever takes their place.
I think that would be a very good start at least.
Yeah, and while they slave away in the sweatshops, we could hit them all with sticks.
It’s just so maddening to hear these neo-cons and pseudo-liberals braying “They hate us for our freedom!” or some variant thereof. No, we hate you because you invade our land, and steal our resources and try to kill us when we resist. Is this really a revelation to the American public? Do you not get foreign news? Are we really just some “undifferentiated others” to be randomly thrown aside when you discover some mineral or other in our soil?
It is as expected. In spite of all the belligerent talks, war has never been on the table. Everything is just to notch up the pressure on N Korea.
Some people may sigh with relief that war wouldn’t come. But those who orchestrated this whole matter, might have gotten what they wanted.
There may be a 2nd Korean war someday in the future, but not now. If it happens, it will be a war between China and the U.S.Until then the whole N Korean matter is only diplomatic skirmishes of the coming war.
ok fine… we can hit them with sticks.
Frances, we only get the news that the govenment wants us to see….
we hunt the internet for real news.
@Jan
Praise Xenu for the interwebs and willyloman. See, here in Asia, our media is pretty godawful too. But you don’t see Asian teenagers clamouring to join the army, or start wars or have other nations fight proxy wars on our behalf. We’re chickens and proud of it! So why do Americans think war is inevitable when it’s your own sons and daughters who will die? I just don’t get it.
Frances
Its quite remarkable what they did… they just lied.
George W. Bush campaigned on a policy of non-interventionism in 2000. But at the same time, his foreign policy team (The Vulcans) headed by Condi Rice and Dick Cheney were planing major interventions all across the world even before Bush was elected.
In fact, O’Neill admitted that in late Jan 2001, when Bush Bush first took office, he addressed his cabinet heads and pretty much demanded that they find a way into Iraq. Some kind of justification.
You see, he already had a plan in mind for Afghanistan.
None of it would have worked had it not been for 9/11, which should make most rational people start wondering about the truth of 9/11, especially after what just happened to the Cheonan.
Obama is no different.
He also campaigned on a platform of non-interventionism, though the dedicated “progressives” around here don’t want to believe it.
And of course Obama is just as eager to attack as Bush was.
Its about the same thing that has been done to the Israeli citizens; they have been frightened out of their minds and convinced by their media that they constantly face an “exstitential threat” from all around.
That’s one of the reasons Israel doesn’t want to admit they have nukes. then they would have to explain how this “exstitential threat” works when they have the 5th largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world. Who is going to attack them?
They need the constant threat to convince their people that whatever Israel does, no matter how bad it is, it is always justified by the existential threat that the arab nations around them presents.
Well, 9/11 is being used the same way. People know what is being done is wrong, but they allow it to happen because of the existential threat of “terrorism”. That and they are being taught by the media and the schools, the we have a certain “exceptionalism” that allows us to violate the rules of law because America is all about bringing “democracy” to the rest of the world.
It’s propaganda… aka… Public Relations. Lies, in other words. A massive, orchistrated campaign of lies and unfortunately most people can’t see through them and of those that can, some have just given up for fear that making waves with harm their standard of living.
which it will.
The ones who really understand it, don’t send their kids to fight in the Global Free Market Wars. That’s why they won’t ever bring back the draft or manditory service… they would rather let the poor and uneducated fight the wars for the empire.
Very few like me who understand what is happening actually take time to try and tell others. Because, quite frankly, I don’t think there is a more selfish, self-absorbed coulture on the planet.
Now I hope that helps you to understand what is happening here. When you figure it out, let me know, because it still shocks me every single day.

Frances, when jobs are hard to find…….. and you need to survive, many join the service… they are also promised college grants when they get out…. they get free medical and dental care when in the service which is difficult to pay for when you don’t have a job.
We don’t have health care unless you pay for insurance or you work for the government… like congress and the president (they have the best at the expense of the taxpayers)
and our votes don’t count anymore…. they use (fixed) electronic voting machines ……
being an American is a shocking experience now-a-days….
Everything is getting so fucked up that I find myself reading the news less and less. It’s just too depressing. Back in the early 70s I went for a whole decade never reading a newspaper because of the vietnam bullshit. I only started reading papers again because I was writing for them. All this FF crap has got to end… but we’ve got a real conundrum with the scarcity of honesty in govt and the press. Someone needs to create a bullshit meter, so whenever anyone talks the bullshitometer gives a digital readout in real time. The technology is there, but I don’t see any creative geniuses stepping up to home plate.
“Attack against South Korean ship looks like false flag operation”
I vote for that ‘bullshit’ meter that cinderman is inventing…..make all polititian want-a-bees take the test every month. If they fail.. offf with their heads…
is that the same as a lie-detector? good idea….

[...] and China have been strained in recent months. In May, for instance, officials in Beijing seemed to reject the results of a U.S.-led investigation that found North Korea guilty of sinking a South Korean [...]
Only way to resolve this is to involve every country in the investigation. That was not done and this is why there is debate and doubt. If china and russia had been equally involved in hte investigation then this matter would be a lot simpler. AS it’s, I think people feel that the US doesn’t care whether Cheonan sank because of an accident or because of an attack from the north. As far as the US is concerned EVERYTHING is an attack from the north and can be used as evidence.
