1. VoteVets.org Crosses the Line – AntiWar – Yet another “progressive” institution, VoteVets, has jumped ship in a big way and now they are running ads on tv that support several of Obama’s neoliberal agendas. They used to hold the Bush administration accountable by exposing scandals and calling for the improvement of the GI Bill. Remember them? Now-a-days they are running an ad which implies that Iran is shipping weapons over to Iraq for the “terrorists” to use against our troops (proven wrong years ago) and they are pushing for a “clean energy bill” to break us from the dependency we have with “the enemy”… who, in the world of VoteVets is Iran. This does two things for the Obama White House… it promotes war with Iran and promotes the global warming “cap-and-trade” derivatives legislation that is about to be back in congress next week. The owner of VoteVets took exception to being called out for supporting a war with Iran and he mentioned that they were the ones who started up StopIranWar.com so that proves they don’t support a war with Iran. StopIranWar.com coincidentally has been shut down.
2. Goldman Sachs taps ex-W.H. counsel - Politico – I was curious yesterday when I noticed Goldman Sachs stock was on the rise early in the morning. Turns out there is a reason. Gregory Craig, the ex-White House counsel who left the administration after a year because they hadn’t closed Gitmo like they said they were going to, has signed on to represent GS in their civil action announced this past Friday. The article states that Craig has deep ties to the Democrats… they aren’t lying. But more specifically, he has ties to NEOLIBERAL democrats… not just the Obama administration… and those ties go way back…
“He received his J.D. in 1972 from Yale Law School, where he met Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham.”
“In 1997 Secretary of State Madeleine Albright made Craig one of her senior advisors, and he served as Director of Policy Planning from 1997–98“
During the campaign of 2008, the ”Obama campaign, Craig dealt with the senator’s reversal of an earlier commitment to filibuster the FISA Amendments Act of 2008. Craig’s explanation of the apparent turn-around included a statement that Obama had “concluded that with FISA expiring, it was better to get a compromise than let the law expire.”
“In 1977, he represented the first FBI agent ever to be indicted, John J. Kearney, who was accused of illegal wiretapping, breaking and entering, and mail opening in connection with the FBI investigation of the Weatherman. That same year, working with Edward Bennett Williams, Mr. Craig represented the former CIA Director, Richard Helms, who was under grand jury investigation for alleged perjury in his 1973 testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, concerning the 1973 Chilean coup d’état, and the role the United States played in it.”
So when the shit hits the fan in America these days, at least if you’re a well-connected bank, all you gotta do is call up the White House and they will pull all the strings you need. They will let you help write the legislation that is supposed to “reform” your corrupt industry and they will offer up their prize insider mouthpieces to go to bat for you in court. But first, like VoteVets, you have to prove your loyalty to The Party, the Neoliberal Party that is. Just produce a commercial or two that helps them spin up their lies they need for whatever agenda they have at the moment.
In the case of the recent VoteVets propaganda, their ad is pretty good in that it helps bring progressives along on the “attack Iran” message and at the same time, it helps with the political right, who already want to attack Iran but they don’t trust the “cap-and-trade” scam. Quite brilliant actually.
And you can understand why Goldman Sachs expects to simply call up the Obama administration and get their best “fixer” shipped right… after all, they PAID for it. Goldman Sachs was the 2nd largest contributor to the Obama Product Marketing Campaign of 2008 according to Open Secrets… also notable contributors were Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, and UBS…

3. Dodd Bill Contains “permanent unlimited bailout authority” for White House - Politico – A House Democrat is worried about the banking “reform” bill that is working its way through congress. One aspect he talks about is the ability it gives the President to bailout the banking sector without having to go to congress to ask for permission. Remember last time they did it with TARP, it was rejected the first time around and the neoliberal bankers panicked because they knew if they didn’t get that money, they would be blown-up with their own financial bombs. But now, this “reform” bill makes it so they don’t have to worry about that anymore… the puppet president can just hand over billions of our dollars to the banksters without getting approval from anyone… “But there are serious problems with the Dodd bill. The Dodd bill has unlimited executive bailout authority. That’s something Wall Street desperately wants but doesn’t dare ask for. The bill contains permanent, unlimited bailout authority. “
How’s that for some fucking Barack Obama type ”reform”?
4. Only 16 of 384 areas show employment growth in latest Adversity Index - MSNBC – Out of the 384 metropolitan areas of this nation, only 16 have shown an uptick in employment over the past year. The “recovery” is based on the downsizing of corporations and payroll and the attack on the real pay rates for the employees who are left with jobs. Other contributions to this “recovery” are the profits being made outsourcing jobs overseas and the tax breaks the Obama administration heaped on businesses via the “stimulus package”. Are the 16 areas making huge increases in employment? No. Are they at least large cities with big populations? No.
