Just a quick note:
It is being reported that the new Jobs Bill created by Team DLC Obama™ Brand won’t actually create many jobs, if any. But on the upside, it will continue the unconstitutional and highly unethical Patriot Act provisions that were set to expire on Feb. 28, 2010.
It sounds great: A big jobs bill that would hand President Barack Obama a badly needed victory and please Republicans with tax cuts at the same time. But there’s a problem: It won’t actually create many jobs.
Even the Obama administration acknowledges the legislation’s centerpiece — a tax cut for businesses that hire unemployed workers — would work only on the margins. Business Insider
The senate democrats (remember those guys who crafted the mandatory insurance company bailout plan they call “healthcare reform”?) have suggested a different plan though.
Rather than just giving businesses a tax break of $5,000 per new hire, they are suggesting that the employers don’t have to pay Social Security taxes on each employee hired this year. That serves two functions; 1. it makes it cheaper for businesses to hire people at lower wages thanks to the economy and 2. it allows them to further undermine the stability of the Social Security program so they can claim it’s failing and then use that as an excuse to privatize it faster. Kills two birds with one stone. Hands more money over to BIG business AND it primes the pot to hand over Social Security to the Wall Street bankers. Neat huh?
