So Why Did President Obama Try to Kill a Witness in Yemen

Up until now, there has only been speculation as to who was the real target in the most recent U.S. backed attack in Yemen that killed a reported 34 people.  But today it is being reported that the target was in fact, Anwar al-Awlaki, the controversial cleric who communicated with Ft. Hood shooting suspect Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.  This most recent attack comes on the heels of another one, just a week ago, in which 17 women and 23 children were slaughtered in order to protect the investments of “U.S. assets” in Yemen (namely, Kuwait Energy and the IMF and World Bank).  As bad as that was, Obama’s killing of innocent civilians to protect pipelines and IMF’s investors, this most recent assassination attempt may be even more troubling.

The Yemeni government has confirmed that today’s US-backed air strike was aimed at assassinating US-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, and officials speculated that he might have been slain in the attack.  Antiwar

The question is, “why kill this man?”.  Why risk more anger from the people in Yemen, Muslims all across the world, and Obama’s own antiwar rooted liberal left?  What is the payoff?  Well, it might be bigger than you think.

First of all, we already have it from a reliable source that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s emails to al-Awlaki were related to his work at Ft. Hood and not suspect in any way. Of course, this information came out just after the Ft. Hood shooting, before they started spinning up the “Hasan as a Homegrown Terrorist” angle of the story.

Military officials told CNN on Monday that intelligence agencies intercepted communications from Hasan to al-Awlaki and shared them with other U.S. government agencies. But federal authorities dropped the inquiry into Hasan’s communications after deciding that the messages warranted no further action, one of the officials said.

According to the FBI, investigators from one of its Joint Terrorism Task Forces determined “that the content of those communications was consistent with research being conducted by Maj. Hasan in his position as a psychiatrist at the Walter Reed Medical Center [in Washington].”  CNN

But as the story progressed, those emails and communications became more and more important to the  fascist Lieberman faction of our government.  It became of critical importance to make Maj. Hasan a “homegrown terrorist” and those emails were a key part of that narrative.  In fact, when compared to Maj. Hasan’s rising stock in the military evidenced by his recent promotions and increased security level, they are the ONLY part of the narrative that can be spun to “prove” his “terrorist” inclinations.

Just a quickie… it would appear that all those emails that everyone (read as Joe Lieberman and his neocon Bush administration GWOT hawk Senate hearing “witnesses“) keeps talking about which prove Hasan’s “extremist” views (you know, the emails that a government official accidentally reported as taking place on behalf of the work that Hasan had been doing FOR THE GOVERNMENT and had absolutely NO terrorist overtones at all? You know, those emails) have been not only kept from public scrutiny… but apparently they have been kept from the scrutiny of Hasan’s lawyer as well.  AE

Now, no one has released those emails as of yet and the only credible interpretation of them is that early report issued that stated those communications were in accordance with Maj. Hasan’s work at Ft. Hood and that they were harmless enough, as viewed by Counter Intelligence officials, as to not warrant alarm.

But now the Obama administration goes out of its way to attempt to assassinate the ONLY person not employed by the counter intel complex who knows what was in them; Anwar al-Awlaki.

Why?  Well, it’s my theory that they need to kill that man because they intend to release fraudulent emails that make Maj. Hasan into a “homegrown terrorist”.  This would serve their cause in two ways.

First, they would then rush to pass the Homegrown Terrorism Bill that Sen. Lieberman has been sitting on in his committee.  It has already passed the House and is now just waiting for the right “New Pearl Harbor” type event that would allow Sen. Lieberman and his fascist co-conspirators to bring it to the floor of the Senate in order to “save us all” from those homegrown terrorists living among us. This would enable the rounding up of “potential” insurgents/terrorists before they commit any crime whatsoever.  For that we can thank Obama’s “Preventative Detention” policy.

Second, since the communications were via the internet (emails) this would be useful to them were they to want to filter the internet for “terrorist” type websites.  A key aspect of the bill that Lieberman is sitting on, is defining HOW U.S. citizens become “radicalized”.  According to the bill, that process is facilitated in many ways, but the most effective for the “terrorists” is the use of the internet.  So in short, once this bill gets passed, insurgent sites, all determined by a panel created by Lieberman and his cronies, will be shut down for providing information counter to the allowable, status quo, story lines promoted by the corporate media.

Things are about to get much worse in this nation, not better.  The neoliberal economic model is just starting.  Obama’s attack on the education system, employment, and social programs is going to have to escalate in order to bring U.S. labor in line with the global economy.  The IMF and World Bank free-market “reforms” are only just beginning.  Once these policies gear up and start running at full speed, there will be a lot of people in this country who are going to be very, very angry.  It happens EVERYWHERE these policies are enacted.

So it’s important to the neoliberal leaders who are running this transition to ensure that there is a mechanism for removing those who stand opposed to it.  In order to do that here in America without causing a total revolution, they have to create a justification to pass legislation that is strictly unconstitutional “for our own good” and those emails are all they got.

Some might say that this is terribly cynical of me; that Obama would never use the deaths of those soldiers at Ft. Hood in such a way.  To them, all I ask, is why is it that Obama wouldn’t use those soldiers like that, while he is sending 30,000 more into Afghanistan for essentially the same reason?  All of Obama’s advisors have gone on record saying troop fatalities will certainly increase with this new “surge”. And unless you are a complete idiot, you know that the war in Afghanistan has NOTHING to do with “national security” and everything to do with U.S. imperialism and the continued promotions of a globalist agenda through out the Middle East and the rest of the world.

Yes, Peace Prize winning President Obama killed 23 kids just last week to protect the neoliberal project in Yemen.

Yes, Peace Prize winning President Obama just killed even more civilians, in a misguided attempt to assassinate the only person who can counter the coming “terrorist emails” spin that will play a large part in the coming passage of the Homegrown Terrorist Bill here in the U.S.
