Tread Carefully Congressmen… The Terrorists Are Still Out There

It is said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.  Dennis Kucinich would be wise to remember that.

The congressman from Ohio is valiantly working to attempt to use the war powers act to end the illegal occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.  He is going to submit two resolutions as soon as congress comes back in January that will set this plan of his into motion.  In all likelihood, the Rahm Emanuel/Hillary Clinton dominated DLCers of the congress will strike them both down with little fanfare from the corporate media.  However, like his impeachment resolution in 2007, there is a possibility that the antiwar faction of the right (yes, it’s small but it does exist) and some of the most exposed democrats facing re-election next year, may just be enough to garner Kucinich’s bills some traction. If he hooks up with the Ron Paul movement in the House, which has gained a considerable measure of strength with his “Audit the Fed” bill,  Kucinich may just have enough juice early in the election cycle of 2010 to actually make a game out of this.

But if our “terrorist” history is any indication, that might not be the safest thing for the American people.

Funny as it is, “the terrorists” always seem to strike when it is the most politically advantageous for the imperialists in the White House whether they are republican or democrat.  Odd how that works, ain’t it?

1. 9/11 occurred right after Bush had the invasion plans for Afghanistan drawn up and only a few months after negotiations with the Taliban fell through regarding the Trans Afghan Pipeline.  The events of 9/11 also provided the neocons Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Pearl, and others their “New Pearl Harbor type event” which created an instant justification for the implementation of what was called “The Bush Doctrine”… endless wars of aggression against invisible enemies of the state in whatever country the unitary executive decided they needed to attack.

2. The anthrax attacks also came at an opportune moment for the implementation of the Patriot Act.  Members of congress weren’t quite sure that the way to combat “the terrorists who hate us for our freedom” was to gut the protections of the constitution, thereby attacking the very freedoms “they” hated us for.  Along comes some anthrax from a US facility, and the Patriot Act was signed before anyone really read it.

3. It has been well documented that every single “terror alert” warning from back in the John Ashcroft days was simply a contrivance used to foster fear and therefore support for the administration. Olbermann, back when he was antiwar under the republican president, did a full hour show once detailing every single terror alert warning, busted up “terror cell” arrest, and all the other fake terror scams of the previous administration.  Though no one was killed in the making of these phony alerts, they still fit the definition of “terrorism” in that they were used to frighten the public into accepting some political or economic shift that they wouldn’t have accepted without it.

4. Last but certainly not least, the economic crash.  Economic terrorism fits the bill just the same. The end result they wanted was massive bailouts, a transference of public wealth into a small percentage of private hands, undermining the standards of living for the vast majority of the American workforce, the forced selloff of public assets across the nation to private interests, and new legislation that will hand over even more control of this nations economy to the very people that created and profited from the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression.  It has been widely reported that the economic crash was not only foreseen and preventable, but it was actually skillfully manipulated by people like Hank Paulson, Geithner, Bernanke, and various others from the big financial institutions.

The events I have listed above deal explicitly with recent terrorist events in the United States.  We could easily jump in the way-back machine and take a look at JFK’s assassination or that of Dr. King.  We could easily re-evaluate RFK’s murder and ponder just how that terrorist event changed the course of history, and again wonder aloud just who profited from that little event as well.  We can look at the questions surrounding the destruction of the Murrah Building and how that event related to the passage of legislation back then.  And of course, we could look at the London bombings, look at the odd circumstances surrounding that event, and start to ask who profited from that terrorist act.

But I digress.

The question is, what will happen NOW in the event of a serious movement to snatch control back from the unitary executive and his warmongering DLC/neocon staff?  What exactly is going to happen when the collective interests of the imperialist agenda that is rolling along so well in this country, face the possibility of the end of the “endless’ war ATM?

The people of our country don’t think we have any reason to be in Afghanistan… any reason anymore to spend trillions inflating the war-porfiteers balance sheets.  Bin Laden is dead, the “masterminds” of 9/11 are going to court. Hell, al Qaeda isn’t even IN Afghanistan anymore, or haven’t you been paying attention.

No one bought Obama’s hard sell war pitch last week.  In most circles it’s just a joke that Clinton and Gates ran around undermining the very next day.

The Global War on Terror is in shambles and now, with all that beautiful money exposed and vulnerable to “socialist” causes like creating jobs, infrastructure, healthcare… Kucinich and Paul are running a full court press, pummeling the globalists up against the fence in the last 20 seconds of our 8 year cage fight for democracy. The scent of blood is in the air and  things are starting to look a little grim for the imperialist profiteer class. 

If only they could win back the blind, unyielding support of the American people once again.  If only they could press back against the rising tide of uneasy questions and cynical dissenters who permeate the blogs and oped columns these days. If only they could return to a time when dissent and hard questions were “unAmerican” and supportive of “the terrorists”. If only they could return to say, late September 2001.  Now that would be a blessing for the globalist war-mongers, now wouldn’t it?

If only.

The people who were evil enough to fly planes into buildings on Sept. 11th 2001 are still out there.  The people who sent anthrax to congress are still out there. The people who sabotaged our economy, evicted tens of thousands of families into the streets, evaporated millions of workers retirement accounts,  and siphoned off trillions of public assets for their troubles are still out there.  These people have already demonstrated that they will do anything, say anything, to maintain their way of life. To maintain their grip on the control “the terrorists” gave them. 

Theirs is an ideology of suffering; our suffering for their benefit.

They have no moral compass, no limit to their indifference to the agony they inflict.

They are the Gordon Gekko’s of the modern post-911 world, and today they have even more access to the security grid than they had 8 years ago. Today, they have even more vested interests in the endgame they seek. Today they have a proven ally in the corporate media who they know will help hide their mistakes and convey the gospel of the ”official story” to the people without question and without mercy.

In 1962 the Joint Chiefs of Staff drafted a proposal to instigate a war against the tiny, socialist nation of Cuba.  It was signed by all of them and even the chairman, Lyman Lemnitzer. Not only did that plan include covert terrorist activities to be carried out targeting the innocent civilian population of Cuba in hopes that it would generate a military reaction from that state, but it also included a secondary protocol designed to generate anger in the American population toward Cuba, and thus the justification for the war they so desperately sought. False Flag terrorist attacks against the people of this nation with the express purpose of generating a war for which certain interests would profit.

An applicable lesson from our history. Excerpts from Operation Northwoods as conceived and prepared by the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the United States of America in 1962;

- A “Remember the Maine” incident could be arranged in several forms:

a. We could blow up a US ship in Guantanamo Bay and blame Cuba.

b. We could blow up a drone (unmanned) vessel anywhere in the Cuban waters… Casualty lists in US newspapers would cause a helpful wave of national indignation.

- We could develop a Communist Cuban terror campaign in the Miami area, in other Florida cities and even in Washington…Exploding a few plastic bombs in carefully chosen spots, the arrest of Cuban agents and the release of prepared documents substantiating Cuban involvement…

- Use of MIG type aircraft by US pilots could provide additional provocation. Harassment of civil air, attacks on surface shipping and destruction of US military drone aircraft by MIG type planes would be useful as complementary actions. An F-86 properly painted would convince air passengers that they saw a Cuban MIG…

- It is possible to create an incident which will demonstrate convincingly that a Cuban aircraft has attacked and shot down a chartered civil airliner en route from the United States to Jamaica, Guatemala, Panama or Venezuela. The destination would be chosen only to cause the flight plan route to cross Cuba. The passengers could be a group of college students off on a holiday or any grouping of persons with a common interest to support chartering a non-scheduled flight.

a. An aircraft at Eglin AFB would be painted and numbered as an exact duplicate for a civil registered aircraft belonging to a CIA proprietary organization in the Miami area. At a designated time the duplicate would be substituted for the actual civil aircraft and would be loaded with the selected passengers, all boarded under carefully prepared aliases. The actual registered aircraft would be converted to a drone.

b. Take off times of the drone aircraft and the actual aircraft will be scheduled to allow a rendezvous south of Florida. From the rendezvous point the passenger-carrying aircraft will descend to minimum altitude and go directly into an auxiliary field at Eglin AFB where arrangements will have been made to evacuate the passengers and return the aircraft to its original status. The drone aircraft meanwhile will continue to fly the filed flight plan. When over Cuba the drone will begin transmitting on the international distress frequency a “MAY DAY” message stating he is under attack by Cuban MIG aircraft. The transmission will be interrupted by destruction of the aircraft which will be triggered by radio signal. This will allow ICAO radio^[16] stations in the Western Hemisphere to tell the US what has happened to the aircraft instead of the US trying to “sell” the incident.

Journalist James Bamford summarized Operation Northwoods in his April 24, 2001 book Body of Secrets:

Operation Northwoods, which had the written approval of the Chairman and every member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, called for innocent people to be shot on American streets; for boats carrying refugees fleeing Cuba to be sunk on the high seas; for a wave of violent terrorism to be launched in Washington, D.C., Miami, and elsewhere. People would be framed for bombings they did not commit; planes would be hijacked. Using phony evidence, all of it would be blamed on Castro, thus giving Lemnitzer and his cabal the excuse, as well as the public and international backing, they needed to launch their war.

The sordid history of terrorist attacks in the United States is suspect at best for most Americans.  For some of us, the private investigations and endless hours of personal research have proven beyond any reasonable doubt that those who profited most from these events are the same ones who planned and perpetrated them. They are acts of treason committed by a small cabal of zealots with carefully directed positions of influence.

That was then, this is now.

The small dedicated cabal has grown into several entrenched institutions some of which are charged with the only security measures we have in place to protect us from “the terrorists”. Given our history and the current corrupt state of the union, it would be naive to assume that these criminals won’t at some point, come to the same conclusions they have reached in the past once their careful plans are seriously threatened from within.

In short, Congressman, if you back the terrorists into a corner, if you threaten their hard-fought imperialist gains and the promise of the endless blank check that is the Global War on Terror, then you have to expect them to resort to their only tried and true option they know that will work; the option they have used before to generate blind unwavering support for their agenda.  Terrorism.

This is the world we live in. This is our post 9/11 reality. 

Good intentions or not… the terrorists are still out there and you better have a plan to deal with them when you go screwing with their way of life. In fact, you might try dealing with them BEFORE you go screwing with their way of life rather than waiting to (pardon the term) pick up the pieces in the aftermath.

I know it’s fun to grandstand and to accept all the pats on the back in this election year (hell, you might even generate a “surge” in campaign contributions), but the responsible course of action might be just a little different. Think about it.
