For only the third time in history, a seated U.S. President has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Barack Obama has been named the recipient of this years award. According to the chairman of the Nobel committee, President Obama was given the award not so much for what he has done, but for what he represents: “Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,”
Well if that is the case it seems to me that they should have given the prize to Obama’s PR team because he is just a pitchman and “HOPE” was just his empty slogan given to him by the advertising executives that ran his campaign. And besides, it was a cruel empty slogan at that. As his people feverishly work to spin this new honor and milk it for every poll percentage point they can, Obama looks to humbly take his place in history next to a couple terrorists and war criminals who have won the Peace Prize in the past.
The more things “CHANGE”, the more they stay the same.
Most of the U.S. now understands that there is a vast difference between what Obama “says” and what he “does”. We are not pulling out of Iraq, we are not reducing troops in Afghanistan, we are not changing the dynamic (or as Obama put it), the “mind set” that got us into these illegal wars of aggression in the first place.
We are not returning “accountability” to Washington, we are not ending the practices of extraordinary renditions, we are not even investigating people who used torture to generate false intel for the purposes of stoking the flames for a war.
Just last week the Obama administration twisted the arm of the president of the Palestinian Authority till he withdrew his support for an investigation into the war crimes committed by Israel and Hamas during Israel’s “Operation Cast Lead”. That is an amazing accomplishment in the field of international bullying; to get a seated Palestinian president to openly and publicly turn his back on the suffering of his own people and shoot down a very real opportunity to bring international attention to the criminal practices of Israel.
That in itself should have won the Obama administration a prize, but not one with the word “Peace” in the title.
Everything Obama has done since taking office has been for the betterment of the corporations and the banking/insurance industry Wall Street moguls.
Prior to taking office, Obama was instrumental in the passage of the FISA retroactive immunity bill which not only protected the big telecom giants from potentially criminal charges, but it also protected the previous administration from having to expose the extent to which they had been routinely spying on American citizens, not “the terrorists”.
Obama has always sided with protecting the previous administration even as they continue every single criminal practice of the previous Bush regime.
Obama and his cronies (a large percentage of them holdovers from the criminal Bush/Cheney gang) then went on to support the TARP bailouts (both of them… and we see what those got us), the Auto Industry Bailout (that crippled the autoworkers union and cost us tens of thousands of jobs), the Stimulus Package (a big time giveaway for the major U.S. corporations in the guise of “creating or saving” jobs… and we see what that has gotten us) and now, the Obamacare insurance company bailout plan (MANDATORY ENROLLMENT by penalty of law with NO PUBLIC OPTION and only a TOKEN oversight plan will enable the criminal insurance companies to literally STUFF their pockets at the cost of everyday working people while Obama and his family enjoy FREE HEALTHCARE FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE).
Under Obama’s watch, not only has he turned his back on the desperate plight of the Palestinian people living under a criminal siege in both the West Bank and the Gaza strip, but he has also turned a blind eye to the illegal coup and the resulting undemocratic crackdown that recently took place in Honduras.
And that doesn’t even touch on the fact that civilian casualties in Afghanistan and Pakistan are way up under the Nobel Peace Prize winning Barack Obama’s rule.
A “Peace Prize” for that? Because at one time Obama’s team helped him lie through his teeth to a desperate American people?
Obama and his handlers have yet to really pounce on this new opportunity and all he has been programmed to say thus far is that he is “humbled” to have been chosen. Well, while I am sure his PR team is busy working on the many and varied ways Team DLC Obama Brand will use this and spin this for traction and covering energy for the next three years, maybe I should point out a few of the previous recipients of this “humbling” award.
Just to put things in perspective (which I am sure the fake “progressive” blogosphere has already emptied their collective bladders all over themselves patting each other on the back and praising the great “Obama God”) here are just a few of the previous Nobel Peace Prize Winners.
1. 1978 Nobel Prize Winner Menachem Begin the terrorist
Begin was head of the Jewish terrorist organization IRGUN, which aside from killing 100′s of innocent civilians in terrorist attacks, also took part in extortion, insurance scams, blackmail, and various other criminal enterprises.
Begin issued a call to arms and from 1944–48 the Irgun launched an all-out armed rebellion, perpetrating hundreds of attacks against British installations and posts. Begin financed these operations by extorting money from Zionist businessmen, and running bogus robbery scams in the local diamond industry, which enabled the victims to get back their losses from insurance companies.
… the Irgun’s bombing of the British administrative headquarters at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem, where 91 people, including British officers and troops as well as Arab and Jewish civilians, were killed.
Under Begin’s leadership, the Irgun continued to carry out operations such as breaking into Acre Prison, and the kidnapping and hanging of two British sergeants in response to the execution of several Irgun members by the British;
And of course that says nothing of the Sabra and Shatila massacres that took place under Begin’s watch.
All and all, Menachem Begin was a murdering terrorist extremist of the worst kind. He was personally responsible for killing British, Israeli, and Palestinian civilians without regard for anything but his extremist ideological goal; the complete subversion of the Palestinian land by Israel, by any means necessary.
Here are a few quotes from the 1978 Nobel Peace Prizing winner, Menachem Begin…
” [The Palestinians are] beasts walking on two legs.” Menahim Begin, speech to the Knesset, quoted in Amnon Kapeliouk, “Begin and the Beasts”. New Statesman, 25 June 1982.
“Our race is the Master Race. We are divine gods on this planet. We are as different from the inferior races as they are from insects. In fact, compared to our race, other races are beasts and animals, cattle at best. Other races are considered as human excrement. Our destiny is to rule over the inferior races. Our earthly kingdom will be ruled by our leader with a rod of iron. The masses will lick our feet and serve us as our slaves.” – Israeli prime Minister Menachem Begin in a speech to the Knesset [Israeli Parliament] quoted by Amnon Kapeliouk, “Begin and the Beasts,” New Statesman, June 25, 1982
2. 1973 Nobel Peace Prize winner Henry Kissinger the war criminal
Henry Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973 for his work “ending the Vietnam War” along with Le Duc Tho who I think didn’t bother showing up for the award because he thought the selection was a sham.
Kissinger’s list of war crimes would take a Harvard scholar to fully detail. He is a wanted war criminal and was nearly arrested traveling abroad several times, the most prominent example was in Paris.
Kissinger planned the illegal bombing of Cambodia which took countless civilian lives. He was recorded by Nixon calling for the bombing of a major dam which would have killed, by his estimation, a hundred thousand civilian lives. He was instrumental in the illegal coup that took place in Chile on Sept. 11th 1973 and the subsequent dictatorial rule of Augusto Pinochet, Kissinger’s puppet ruler for the next decade or so.
Kissinger was ruled a war criminal by international courts for his involvement with Operation Condor, a covert assassination, kidnapping, murder, and general terrorist undermining operation run by the CIA in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay during the 70′s.
Kissinger also helped give the approval for Indonesia’s Suharto to wipe out the tens of thousands of civilians of East Timor, without which approval, Suharto would hardly have been able to do it.
Kissinger’s list of criminal endeavors goes on and on and on. You would need and entire Library of Congress to keep track of the crimes against humanity Henry Kissinger is responsible for. The word “peace” and Henry Kissinger should never be used in a sentence together (though I just did). And yes, Kissinger was all over Condi Rice’s “birth pangs for a new Middle East” and the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11th 2001.
So in conclusion I would like to congratulate President Obama for taking his place in history alongside the terrorist and war criminals, Begin and Kissinger.
