It was impossible to confirm the authenticity of the recording, but the voice appeared to be that of the terror group’s leader. CBS News
Now why the hell is it impossible to verify this recordings authenticity? Aren’t there fucking people that do that for a living? And if you can’t verify it’s authenticity, why the FUCK would every news service in America be reporting it as bin Laden™ ?
Hey, guess what I got? I got an audio tape of President Bush claiming he knocked down the towers because he knew that the bankers that paid him to do it also owned the corporate media so he would get away with it. He also claims he doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but himself and that he still gets drunk and does coke in the White House. Aside from that, he thinks I should be president and wants everyone to know Dick Cheney’s wife makes him wear a bra.
It’s impossible to validate the tapes authenticity, but I want you all to know, it’s not just bullshit propaganda that I made up. Unnamed high-ranking officials claim “there is no reason to think that Scott Creighton made this stuff up in an obviously transparent attempt to justify his own agenda“. See? There is my proof. What more do you need CBS?
Impossible to confirm the authenticity of the tape? Someone call CSI. Isn’t there something called an audio forensic specialist? I mean, don’t we use things like that when the Israeli companies sift through all our phone calls that used to be protected by the constitution and FISA?
Yeah. I thought so. Here’s a list CBS can use to find someone…. it took me all of 15 FUCKING SECONDS TO FIND!!!
Not only does this “new bin Laden™ ” tape justify the ethnic cleansing in Gaza by calling on a jihad by the Palestinians, but, it also just happens to help justify the continuation of the war on terror, and… he threw in another “confession” of their role in 9/11™, just for good measure.
All this, in a tape that for some reason, audio experts can’t verify it’s authenticity, because… “it’s impossible“.
ABC News even goes one step further, quoting the”unnamed high-ranking government official who cryptically states… “There is no reason to question the tapes authenticity”. Nothing to see here. Take your medicine and keep moving along. Watch “World’s Biggest Loser” and keep working at McDonalds…
A senior US official told ABCNews.com, “There is no reason to doubt the authenticity of the tape.”
It is the first time bin Laden has been heard from in seven months and puts to rest speculation he is dead. ABC News
An unverifiable tape downloaded off a government paid site that specializes in “finding” these bin Laden™ tapes, is reseason to put “put speculation to rest”? Reporting ain’t what it used to be, is it?

Keep in mind this was 10 years ago. Who knows where this technology is at today.
After that fuckup video that had Bin Laden’s voice still going on when his lipes had stopped moving, guess from that point on, they thought audio tapes would be safer.
Now excuse me, me telescreen says the State Mandated “Two Minutes Hate” is due.
I just LOVE to hate. It’s soooo much easier than thinking, don’t you think?

“Gentlemen! We have called you together to inform you that we are going to overthrow the United States government.” So begins a statement being delivered by Gen. Carl W. Steiner, former Commander-in-chief, U.S. Special Operations Command.
At least the voice sounds amazingly like him.
But it is not Steiner. It is the result of voice “morphing” technology developed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico.
By taking just a 10-minute digital recording of Steiner’s voice, scientist George Papcun is able, in near real time, to clone speech patterns and develop an accurate facsimile. Steiner was so impressed, he asked for a copy of the tape.
Steiner was hardly the first or last victim to be spoofed by Papcun’s team members. To refine their method, they took various high quality recordings of generals and experimented with creating fake statements. One of the most memorable is Colin Powell stating “I am being treated well by my captors.”
“They chose to have him say something he would never otherwise have said,” chuckled one of Papcun’s colleagues.

Meh. I understand your frustration but I don’t think it’s that big a deal. News agencies have to show caution on stuff like semi-legit audio tapes or else they develop a reputation as being unreliable. It’s just a formality.
And re audio analysis: yes it can be done, but my understanding is it takes quite a bit of time (hence the delay in confirmation). And linguists will also tell you that it’s not a PERFECT science. They can confirm with like 99% accuracy who the speaker is, but they can’t completely rule out the possibility of someone with similar-sounding vocal chords being the speaker.
It’s a bit like paternity DNA tests or lie detectors. They do a good job, but their not perfect. And CBS don’t need a lawsuit on their hands!
A lawsuit? If Bin Laden is dead, who would project the lawsuit?
