The Chairman of the Federal Reserve was supposed to be at the congressional hearing in the video below, but apparently he ran off to hold a secretive meeting in Europe with the other heads of the Central Banks.

… and they are closing elementary schools in Tampa…
and oh yeah… don’t forget to dig deep and help Hillary pay off her debt from running a hopeless campaign she and everyone else knew she lost on Super Tuesday.
Obama’s $800 billion economic stimulus package, itself tailored to the demands of big business, can wait until mid-February, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has pledged to hold a vote on the TARP money by this Friday at the latest. WSWS
And if Obama™ doesn’t get what he wants, if he doesn’t get the second half of the TARP money that people like Timothy Geithner handed out to certain banks for next to nothing with little to no oversight on what they did with it, then Obama™ is promising to VETO the will of the representatives of the people of America… and just take it. Oh, by the way, the guy that Obama™ has put in charge of handing out the second half of that TARP money… is none other than … Timothy Geithner.
Obama made a personal lobbying trip to Capitol Hill Tuesday, where he issued his first veto threat, before he even takes the Oath of Office. ABC News
Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus has scheduled a confirmation hearing for President-elect Barack Obama’s pick to be Treasury secretary, Timothy Geithner, for next Wednesday, January 21st. CBS News
All this, and neighboring Pinellas County is closing 5 schools because their school budget has been decreased by $68 million dollars. A paultry sum when compared to the $120 billion handed over to AIG over the last few months.
“None of us like the idea of closing any of these schools because of the close neighborhood component,” said board chair Peggy O’Shea. “But we’re aced with unprecedented budget times.“
Budget officers estimated next year’s budget will have to be reduced by approximately $68-million. Fox Tampa

… The [Israeli] war strategy [in Gaza]which Friedman is heralding — what he explicitly describes with euphemism-free candor as “exacting enough pain on civilians” in order to teach them a lesson — is about as definitive of a war crime as it gets. It also happens to be the classic, textbook definition of “terrorism.” Here is how the U.S. Department of State defined ”terrorism” in its 2001 publication, Patterns of Global Terrorism:
No one definition of terrorism has gained universal acceptance. For the purposes of this report, however, we have chosen the definition of terrorism contained in Title 22 of the United States Code, Section 2656f(d). That statute contains the following definitions:
The term “terrorism” means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant (1) targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience. . . .
Other than the fact that Friedman is advocating these actions for an actual state rather than a “subnational group,” can anyone identify any differences between (a) what Friedman approvingly claims was done to the Lebanese and what he advocates be done to Palestinians and (b) what the State Department formally defines as “terrorism”?

It was impossible to confirm the authenticity of the recording, but the voice appeared to be that of the terror group’s leader. CBS News
Now why the hell is it impossible to verify this recordings authenticity? Aren’t there fucking people that do that for a living? And if you can’t verify it’s authenticity, why the FUCK would every news service in America be reporting it as bin Laden™ ?
Hey, guess what I got? I got an audio tape of President Bush claiming he knocked down the towers because he knew that the bankers that paid him to do it also owned the corporate media so he would get away with it. He also claims he doesn’t give a fuck about anyone but himself and that he still gets drunk and does coke in the White House. Aside from that, he thinks I should be president and wants everyone to know Dick Cheney’s wife makes him wear a bra.
It’s impossible to validate the tapes authenticity, but I want you all to know, it’s not just bullshit propaganda that I made up. Unnamed high-ranking officials claim “there is no reason to think that Scott Creighton made this stuff up in an obviously transparent attempt to justify his own agenda“. See? There is my proof. What more do you need CBS?

As this new year dawned, this site was engaged in reporting the struggle of the people of Gaza against the ruthless invading army of Israel that was hell bent on wiping Gaza off the map with as little political blow-back as possible.
That wasn’t very difficult for hardcore right-wing Likudists and the war-party of Israel to do, since we all know, and it is pretty much a cliche now, that the mainstream media in the U.S. has a definite pro-Israel editorial policy; one that makes it difficult if not next to impossible for the average American, occupied with the business of living in a collapsing economy, to gain a clear perspective on what has happened recently in Gaza and what the actual history of the conflict is.
Not only that, but there is a definite trend in the US mainstream media to portray the Palestinians in Gaza as some kind of criminals or terrorists or psycho-jihadists, in order to diminish the outrage that we would feel as a people toward the perpetrators of the atrocities taking place in Gaza right now. It’s a carefully scripted propaganda campaign, designed to allow Israel to illegally grab a patch of land in an immoral way, without losing their all important support of the American people. And the U.S. Government is in lock-step with the corporate media in this effort.
Almost like a “conspiracy” wouldn’t you say?
