Change, My Ass. More Posse Comitatus Violations To Come Under Obama

The Washington Post is reporting that Obama’s Secretary of Defense to-be, Robert Gates, has just announced that they will be putting 20,000 more U.S. troops on the ground, in the United States by 2011 to respond to national emergencies like “… a nuclear terrorist attack or other domestic catastrophe“, in direct violation of the Posse Comitatus Act. This build-up of active duty army troops stationed in the U.S. is to take place under Obama’s watch. The more things “change”, huh?

Paul Joseph Wilson of Prison Planet noted;

“Domestic emergency deployment may be “just the first example of a series of expansions in presidential and military authority,” or even an increase in domestic surveillance, said Anna Christensen of the ACLU’s National Security Project. And Cato Vice President Gene Healy warned of “a creeping militarization” of homeland security.” P. J. Wilson

If you recall the Sept. 8th article from the Army Times, they reported that a force of 3,000 troops, the  3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team, were to be stationed on active duty at Fort Stewart Georgia for the purposes of helping with “civil unrest and crowd control”. After a wave of critical media attention (mainly from the activist blogs) they chose to change the language of that mandate, yet they continued to train with weapons both lethal and “non-lethal” for crowd control operations.

As pointed out by Mr. Wilson, last week’s revelation of the Citibank memo that foretells a pending economic collapse, and then this sudden development of more federal troops to be stationed on the home-front, doesn’t bode well for us “disenfranchised” citizens.

“During numerous urban warfare drills that Jones attended and reported on, troops were trained to raid, arrest and imprison U.S. citizens in detention camps as well as taking over public buildings and running checkpoints. During role playing exercises, actors playing prisoners would scream “I’m an American citizen, I have rights” as they were being dragged away by troops.”   P. J. Wilson 

Since we already know that Citibank is well represented in the new Obama economic team in the form of Robert Rubin, and that Sen. Obama himself is set to “introduce” us to more of his staff today, it seems like this little tidbit of information is not only very curious, but also well timed, as that the next few days of media coverage of Hillary Clinton as Sec. of State will surely sweep this news “off the table”.

So, when you talk about an insiders’ insider, that’s Mr. Rubin. His 33 million dollars of stock options certainly won’t be harmed by the multi-billion dollar Citibank bailout, now will it?

But one thing is for sure; when Citibank bigwigs start talking about economic collapses and Robert Gates talks about putting more ‘troops on the ground” here at home (all in the course of a week)… you might want to start thinking about converting long term assets into short term stockpiles.

Now let’s see if the “progressive” sites out there are as quick to call out Obama for violating Posse Comitatus with 20,000 troops as they were when Bush did it with 3,000.  Something tells me we will hear a lot less about this one. I certainly hope for all our sakes that I am pleasantly surprised.
