Georgia Government Spreading It’s Version of “Democracy”

Brought to you by your friends at the Bush White House.

The pro-Western president has rejected the protesters’ accusations of corruption and says he will not quit.BBC.

More “Fun With the Peace Loving Georgian Democracy!” after the break…

Here are some of the Georgian Special Forces on their way to join in the festivities of the Protest… They look really excited about all the fun they are going to have, huh?

“On November 7, 2007, riot police used excessive force to disperse the largely peaceful demonstrations in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi.”  Human Rights News

And lookie here… those fun-loving storm troopers have masked that look like they came straight from Pink Floyd’s The Wall… “We don’t need no… peaceful protest.”

“”If democracy is about peaceful demonstrations, then this government has shown what kind of democracy it’s practising,” opposition leader Salome Zurabishvili said.BBC.

Ahhhh, it would seem that some of the Georgians don’t like it much when the government holds sham Presidential elections.

“ At a news briefing on 12 January, Saakashvili advised the then Justice Minister “to use force when dealing with any attempt to stage prison riots, and to open fire, shoot to kill and destroy any criminal who attempts to cause turmoil. We will not spare bullets against these people.” Saakashvili in his inaugural speech stated that “now it is time for the government to be afraid of people.”  Wiki.

Remind you a little of another of the members of the Coalition of the Willing? Like say, one where the prime opposition got sent back there by Condi Rice, and then killed? One where the president shut down the democracy and he is now facing impeachment? Ring any bells?

  1. This is the story of two buds, George and “Mikey,” who were playing in the woods:

George hands his friend a sharp pointed stick and urges him “Go ahead Mikey, go on an poke that bear in the nose, he won’t do nothin’.”

    “Uhhh, I don’t know George”

“Ah, go ahead. The bear is old and feeble and can’t see too well. I know, because i’ve been giving him grief for the last couple of years. He don’t pay no attention to me”

“Uhh, George, it’s still a bear and it might…”

“Dangit Mikey, if you want to be my friend, you better do what i want, dangit”

“Uh, well, as long as you’ll help me out if the bear wakes up”

“No problem, compadre, I’ll be right here”

“OK, here goes…. Grrrrr.. Grrrrrrr..”Yahhhh, help me George, the bear is eating me alive

“What, and get eaten by a bear? You damn fool, you’re the one that poked him, now I’m getting the hell out of Dodge. Good luck there, buddy”

  2. Yeah…. this is the big happening…. can’t force Iran on us yet so try Russia…. funny…. all these old men in power…. they going to die soon anyway.. they act like they are so mad because they cannot beat death and so they want to take all the people with them… like saying … hey .. when I die the world does stop….. Bush thinks he is all mighty…

  3. I just wonder if this isn’t an attempt to get Russia mixed up in another theatre of operations so that when Israel attacks Iran, and then we have to help them, the Russians aren’t already bogged down with Georgia. Just a thought.

  4. Russia might get more into Georgia but Russia wouldn’t let a little battle like Georgia get in its way of assisting Iran….
Russia is more organized than that. and smarter….

  6. I spent some time down in GEORGIA. 1971. I was at FT GORDON GEORGIA. I really like it down there. If I had known FT STEWART was just down the road in SAVANNA, I’de of gotten the hell out of that FT HOOD. The whole state of GEORGIA is, JUST WONDERFULL. Too damm bad the RUSSIANS are bombing the hell out of GEORGIA. What the hell’s that all about?

  7. Scott, you must be joking ..this looks like the beginning of that ‘big happening’ …..

  8. Well, i ain’t gonna get uptite about this yet. I seen too many of these in my life. Now if that pipeline gets messed up, we’ll see high prices at the pumps again, not that their not high now, but you know what I mean.

Damm, those soviets are STILL using their old T-72’s, the old BDR’s and
BMP’s. Same armored eqpt they were using 35 years ago.

  9. RELAX JAN HONNEY, IT’S JUST ANOTHER ONE O THOSE “splindid little wars”
nothing to freak out about. Ill let you know when you’ll be needin to tuck your head down between your leggs (to kiss your ass goodby) this’ll be over in a week. The soviets are only conducting a routine live fire field trainning summer excercise. nothing more. Their only out testing some millitary science theories from the command and general staff academy.
they havent actually committed the usual massive quantity of armor their usually for. Fuel may be a factor for that.

  10. WED MORNING

See jan, it’s already winding down there in Georgia. Isn’t it?

Let me tell you something about armored assaults. And I assure you im speaking from experience. I think the original count, of what the Soviets went into Georgia with, was approx 350 armored vehicles. Thats approximatly equivilant to a US div strength. But here is the catcher,,,,
I don’t know what distance the Soviet advance was, actually, but i think it was at least 40 miles minimum. They probably advanced up more thsan one road, but i don’t know this for sure. But using 50 miles as a rough figure, in order to have a significant amount of combat ready vehicles reach the objective, they started out with 350 but no where near that number reached the 50 mile mark. Because armor vehicles are nitorious for break downs.

By the time they were well inside Georgia, they were probably down to half that 350 number they started with. The lead company looked around, saw what was still present, and the wondered, “where the hell is all our guys at”???. Answer,,,the road they advanced on is stroughn with broken down T-72’s, BRD”S AND BMP”S, and they’ll be two weeks getting all them broken down arm vehicles towed out of Georgia. Thats how it always turns out.
All those soviet Arm vehicles is 30 years or older. So essentially, it was not that great of an assault. The guys who ultimatly get the most trainning is the wheeled and tracked vehicle recovery crews.

  11. Scott, you make it sound so silly…. maybe Russia knows it didn’t need much to handle Georgia…. maybe it is saving its big guns for later… why use a sharp butcher knife when a butter knife works just as well…..

  12. Im not trying to down play the seriousness of it all, but what i’ve disclosed above is the reality of armor assaults. It’s the same with our eqpt. Loss due to mechanical breakdowns are always factored in . the further the line of assault, the more eqpt that has to be committed into the assault. The idea is one has to arrive upon the objective with sufficient numbers.

  13. so the huge build up of our best carriers in the Persian Gulf means we intend on war….. and we intend to be trapped…. well at least our government is allowing our men and women to be trapped… I don’t see Bush or Cheney on any of those boats….

  14. Jan, im going to answer this question back on todays (fri) post on page one that Willy posted on this subject.
