Bruce Fein on the Need for Impeachment

House to hear Impeachment debate today.

I wish I could tell you that this is going to be for real, but I can’t. I wish I could tell you Pelosi and Conyers hadn’t already made up their minds, but I can’t. Today at 9:00am, in the House Judiciary Committee, Kucinich and 12 others will be testifying in some kind of hearing that isn’t even called an “impeachment” hearing. This man, Bruce Fein, a republican, will be one of those people allowed to testify.

He is probably the best and most persuasive advocate for impeachment. Let us hope that somehow his words and Kucinich’s and the others who are there to plea the case for the rule of law, will find some loop-hole into Conyer’s walled-off sense of civic duty; enough of a chink in his armor to make him honor his oath of office and the wishes of a vast majority of Americans… We can only hope. It will be covered live on CSPAN. I will put the link up later.

AT&T and other telecom giants, protected by the new FISA Bill immunity that the democrats in the House and Senate approved, are spending millions of dollars bank-rolling the gala events known as the Democratic and the Republican Conventions.

This is a picture of the gift bags that are reportedly going to be given out to politicians, press, and other big-wigs at the Investco Center in Denver when the Convention happens there.

Glenn Greenwald has been commenting on this for a few days now. not just the bags, of course, but the access that the companies donations give them to the upper level politicians and candidates.

Joe Lieberman and the World He Want’s To Live In; God Help us

It is difficult to express the feelings I had when I read Joe Lieberman’s address at the Christians United for Israel conference this morning. It’s a mixed bag of shock and horror and despair for what our country’s political climate has devolved into. To be honest, it is almost like watching the Towers fall all over again. Because I know, that very soon, this ranting lunatic of a man will be in a position of even greater power.

There was a massive call from the “J-Street” coalition and others for Lieberman to cancel his appearance at the CUFI conference mostly based on Pastor Hagee’s hateful behavior and rhetoric over the past few years.

Hagee’s hate runs so deep, he wrote books about it, and even started his congregation based such despotic and vile hate-speech that he called Catholicism “the Great Whore” and other things, far to many to list in this piece. Just Google it. But Lieberman showed up and spoke non-the-less. And oh, what a speech he gave.

Thanks to 9/11 Blogger and AJFan, I just listened to one of the most amazing pieces of abject fabrication I have heard on any radio station; and that includes Bill O’s show.

“Professor Muller (at about 7:30) is led by Boston Public Radio host Tom Ashbrook  to the subject of what future presidents should know about the physics of terrorism; specifically, how did those buildings come down?”

Professor Muller is currentlywith the University of California, Berkley and also a member of the JASON Defense Advisory Group which brings together top scientists as consultants for the United States Department of Defense. So he shouldn’t be too biased, eh?

He writes a monthly column for MIT’s magazine and by all accounts, he is a very smart man (you can tell by how he holds his glasses there). So, let’s see what he says in the interview about the physics of 9/11, shall we?

In these last few weeks I have noticed many, many sites pulling away from the pursuit of impeachment. For various stated reasons, they are resigning themselves to what must seem like an inevitable conclusion to them.

I admire how hard you are still pushing. In fact, it seems that the more of them that silence the call, the louder you become. I am glad that someone is still working toward this result. Not that you are the only one as there are still many people in the blogs out there that wish to see this happen as well.

The truth of the matter is, that other forms of dissent are also losing voices. Here in my hometown, the local 9/11 Truth leader is looking to find a replacement for her while the numbers of active people in our local movement get smaller and smaller.

Even some of the leading voices in the 9/11 Truth movement seem to be taking a bit of a vacation from the fray right now; just when we need them the most.

I am glad to see you are still working hard toward an impeachment investigation. This article is an excellent example of why we must continue to pursue justice with regard to this rogue administration.

But I think you and Kucinich may be avoiding something that is at this time, glaringly obvious to many people world-wide, for fear that it will diminish the credibility of your cause. And so now, I ask you, what have you got to lose?

Now imagine, since Condi is saying that their “attempts” at diplomacy fell on deaf ears this weekend, that somehow, tensions with Iran get worse… Isreal attacks allegedly nuclear sites in Iran… Iran retaliates to defend themselves… and Cheney et al uses that as the justification to attack Iran. Oil prices go through the roof causing massive inflation and job-loss in this country. According to Presidential Directive 51, that would give President Bush the authority to declare a national emergency. The new FISA legislation allows them to wiretap our phones to see who is talking about revolution, then they pick them up and it’s off to the camps for “reeducation” for them. They can appeal, but the courts just ruled that the president can detain Americans indefinitely as long as they are deemed “enemy combatants” by… the President.

My recent comment piece explaining how Iran’s president was badly misquoted when he allegedly called for Israel to be “wiped off the map” has caused a welcome little storm. The phrase has been seized on by western and Israeli hawks to re-double suspicions of the Iranian government’s intentions, so it is important to get the truth of what he really said.

I took my translation – “the regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time” – from the indefatigable Professor Juan Cole’s website where it has been for several weeks.
