Another Payday for the Military Industrial Complex

Yes, we are giving $400 million in aid to Mexico to help fight “the war on drugs” there. But what most don’t know about that money, is that it is really going to more defense contractors. What we are giving Mexico is equipment and training from the Military Industrial Complex while the bodies pile up there and here. We also provide private security companies to Mexico to train their operatives in torture techniques.  Part 2 of this after the break.

The proponent of the SPP approach to the use of the military to address the problem with drugs, unbelievably states that the purpose of this tactic is NOT to eradicate the drug trafficking problem, but instead to hamper the POWER of the major drug traficers.

Like our plan in Columbia, where the very same process is in place, the drug production actually INCREASED after billions were funneled there to help the Colombian government crack down on drug traffickers. So, what is the actual plan being implemented? What are they doing that creates MORE narcotics exports, Not less?

That same proponent of the government’s plan, during the debate talks about immigration into Mexico from their southern border. He says in their country that immigrants without documentation are routinely arrested and should be. In fact, much of the equipment we are providing them is going to secure their southern boarder, while the Mexican government provides maps and assistance to help Mexican illegally cross ours.

The day after a video emerged of a cop knocking a cyclist to the ground, a second video alleging police brutality surfaced today in which an NYPD officer is seen whaling away at a man’s legs with a baton.

The footage – shot on July 4 on the Lower East Side – shows Officer Maurice Harrington repeatedly hitting Michael Cephus, 46, on his legs with a collapsible metal baton as he struggles with officers trying to cuff him.

Pelosi’s blatant disregard for the rule of law when it comes to this administration has been evident from day one. When she first took our constitutional provision of impeachment “off the table“, she effectively re-wrote the constitution to suit her own personal agenda. She gave away the only tool to hold the president in check. The founders of this once great nation knew that without this important restraint, any president could seek an imperial level of control that even King George himself didn’t have. And Pelsoi gave that oversight away.

Or should we say, she sold it.

What “Our Interests in the Region” Did This Week: Terrorized Children

(A couple weeks ago Israeli settlers (who think God decreed all Palestinian lands to Israel) viciously attacked an elderly farming couple with baseball bats. Last week Israel announced that they were going to expand the settlements in the West Bank, regardless of what it does to the Peace Process. And this week, these rogue “settlers” are now going after the weakest and most defenseless in the West Bank: kids. These settlers are paid stipends by their government which really comes straight from money sent from the United States. That’s right: in order to create this world that the Israelis want, they pay “settlers” to terrorise the inhabitants of areas of Palestine so that they will give up and leave their ancestral homes. That, by definition, is terrorism. Pure and simple. And that is what our “leaders” call our “beacon of democracy in the region”: state sponsored terrorism. “Terrorism is “the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion.” Wiki.)

 6:45 a.m. yesterday morning, our friend, Joel Gulledge, called from At-Tuwani, a village in the West Bank where he and another Christian Peacemaker Team (CPT) member were escorting Palestinian children to a local summer daycamp, protecting them from hostile Israeli settlers. A masked settler, carrying a slingshot, was threatening the children. While Jan Benvie, the other CPT team member, raced the children to safety, Joel paused to film what was happening. The masked settler caught up with Joel and attacked him. “He smashed my head again and again,” said Joel, “with my video camera, and punched me in the face, repeatedly, with his other hand.” Joel managed to remain standing. He didn’t fight back, but he screamed for help. The attacker broke Joel’s glasses, and Joel was bleeding from a gash over his eyes. When he called, he was waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

National Guard Rents 500-Plus Hotel Rooms For Democratic Convention

The U.S. Army and Colorado National Guard have announced intentions to reserve more than 500 hotel rooms for lodging during the Democratic National Convention, hinting at the number of military personnel that may be in Denver for the high-profile event that is expected to draw an estimated 50,000 protesters.

While the Democratic convention is being held on Aug 25-28, officials with the Colorado National Guard are seeking to reserve 438 rooms for Aug. 22-30 and 78 rooms for Aug. 18-30 according to award announcements published Friday on the Federal Business Opportunities Web site, a page run by the federal government for business contract solicitations.

So what if I told you that the powers of financial capitalism (bankers etc.), had a far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands, able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole.

This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basle, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world’s central banks which were themselves private corporations?

Wanna watch two overpaid talking heads bimbos giggle and wink about the “impeachment” hearings? These two don’t have one single brain cell between them, so they shill for their masters in their best “Buffy Does News-Lite” manner.

I have never seen such a glaringly biased “news” broadcast in my life, and that includes Fox news and the recent ABC editing of John McCain’s flubs.

Yesterday, during the House Judiciary Committee’s hearing ”Executive Power and it’s Constitutional Limitations“, as an argument for not opening an investigation into criminal acts by this administration, the same talking point came up time and time again; these “demented” people who call for impeachment are trying to “criminalise” political differences: the Criminalization of Politics. 

Now this would normally fall into the silly smoke screen category (especially after what we KNOW happened at the Department of Justice with Carl Rove’s help) …if we hadn’t heard it before. But of course the interesting thing about this is where we have heard it before.

CNN Trashes “Impeachment” Hearings, and Thus The Effort to Restore the Constitution

(CNN, the same network that smeared George Carlin’s memory the day he died by calling him “indecent” in it’s headline about his passing, and owned by massive conglomerate Time-Warner/TBS-AOL, has posted a horribly biased and very brief blurb about the “impeachment” hearing today that would make the fiction writers at Fox News green with envy.

They chose this picture of Rep. Dennis Kucinich that can only be described as attempting to make him look either demented or mentally handicapped. What follows is their article, in it’s entirety. Though they claim Dennis was “the star witness”, Kucinich only spoke twice. The real star witnesses were Vincent Bugliosi, Liz Holtzman and Bruce Fein. But I guess CNN doesn’t want people searching YouTube for their names right now.

The article, from start to finish, is disingenuous at best and at worst, complete corporatist shill.  During the “impeachment” hearing some great speakers put forth clear and compelling reasons to impeach for the greater good of this country. And this is what CNN, a “reputable” news source puts up? It’s a good thing they weren’t around during the Nixon administration. At a crowded Judiciary Committee hearing today, House Democrats talked about impeaching President Bush…. to the disgust of the committee’s Republicans.

It was purely stagecraft. The day’s star witness, Ohio Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich, received a noisy ovation filled with cheering, clapping and whistling as he walked into the hearing room. Kucinich, who has introduced articles of impeachment, exhorted the committee to “support and defend the constitution that has been trampled time and again over the last seven years.”
