Get to Know a Sellout: Episode 3

Today’s episode deals with a special, high-end, high-octane sellout.

This one is a current member of the U.S. House of Representatives who made history by becoming the first woman to be named Speaker of the House. Her historic rise to the Speaker seat made us all feel a little better about being Americans.

Democrats had just won control of both houses of congress and we knew that the end of this horrible occupation was nearing an end. Finally, we were going to show these neo-con usurpers of the throne the meaning of democracy. How wrong we were….

Her previous betrayals have been generously documented on this site and on many, many others over the past two years. So right now I will focus on some of the more recent actions of this top-notch sellout.

Today, for instance, Nancy Pelosi is in Israel, where, according to the Jerusalem Post, she said:

“…to stop Iran’s nuclear march, short of a military strike – something she did not rule out as a last resort – “you have to go all the way. And people have to know you are deadly serious that if you want to be our friend, if you want the benefit of our friendship, a central pillar of our foreign policy is to stop the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.”

One of the meetings she will take while in Israel is with the head of the Likud Party, the Ultra-Right Wing pro-war party, Benjamin Netanyahu. This is the same man who recently said “…that if he were to be elected prime minister, he would not honor any peace agreement struck between current Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas…”; legal or not, he would not honor it and under no circumstances would he “divide Jerusalem.”. from AE, here.

This war-mongering zealot is someone who we should be meeting with?

Now this is the same Democratic leader that promised to put an end to unilateral preemptive military actions in the run-up to the elections of 2006. And here she is, promising just that to the Israeli government, in spite of the fact that Iran is not supplying weapons to the Iraqi insurgency and in spite of the fact that the National Intelligence Estimate of Nov. 2007 stated, without pause, that Iran is not trying to develop nuclear weapons.

Pelosi’s rhetoric has become increasingly similar to that of the war-mongering neo-cons and their puppets in the White House.

“Pelosi said Obama was “a real leader, and to be a real leader you have to be prepared to fight in order to make peace, and I think he is prepared to do that.”

“Referring to the Jewish state as a beacon of democracy, she said that Israel and the US shared the same vision of the future.“

A what vision would that be?

 Walled off ghettosin every major city to keep the undesirables and the malcontents from flourishing. Check-pointsand National Ids with RIF Chips so everyone must show their papers as they pass from one zone to the next.Google walls of Baghdad, Gaza, Israeli security, and border fence technologies and you will see what I mean.

 You might say to yourself that Pelosi is just playing the game as it is played right now by pandering to the far right-wing Israeli lobby, and you might be somewhat correct. During her visit she made a point of reassuring the Israelis that Obama would be just as blood-thirsty toward Iran as McCain would be.

But her ties to the Israeli lobby, I fear, go much further than that.

Dick Cheney should have been impeached long ago. Of that, there is no question. The reasons are clear. But Pelosi has taken impeachment off the table, giving him and Bush a free hand in leveling this country’s democracy, one signing statement at a time.

Why would the Speaker of the House take impeachment “off the table” as her first order of business?

Cheney is going to attack Iran. I have been saying that on this site for months and now many other reputable sites seem to concur. He is hell-bent on formulating a reason, even though members of his own administration and the military leadership seem to be working hard to keep undermining Cheney’s propaganda at every turn. God bless them for that because if they weren’t doing that, more U.S. soldiers would be dying and more innocent civilians would have fallen to another round of “shock and awe”.

So now, not only do we have Pelosi using the same talking points as the war-mongering neo-con spin machine (ones that have already been proven false), but she has purposefully turned her back on the very constitution she swore to uphold in order to leave Cheney in a position to dust up yet another war of aggression in Iran. Why?

According to Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and other neo-cons who were close to the run-up to the Iraq Invasion, the plan was to go after countries that supported anti-Israel groups in order to re-map the Middle East. Condi Rice called the 2006 Israeli attack of Southern Lebanon “the birthpangs of a New Middle East“.

“”What we’re seeing here, in a sense, is the growing — the birth pangs of a new Middle East. And whatever we do, we have to be certain that we are pushing forward to the new Middle East, not going back to the old one. ” Condi Rice.

So, to remove Cheney and then Bush himself, would have put a serious crimp in the New Middle East plans and Pelosi was to have none of that. Her ties to AIPAC and JINSA wouldn’t allow it.

And that was well before the election cycle of 2008, so to say she just playing the game, is a tremendously shallow justification for her complicity in these crimes.

Never before has a criminal administration been told that they would have free reign in the corruption of our democracy like Pelosi did when she took impeachment “off the table”.

Lee Hamilton did in fact refuse to investigate Reagan and Bush 41s criminal endeavours because, he said, that he didn’t want to put the country through another impeachment proceeding. Now either he didn’t really understand the point of checks and balances or he was just as corrupt as the rest.

Of course, Lee helped produce the fraudulent 9/11 Commission Report and now he serves the Bush Administration on the President’s Homeland Security Advisory Council. Who better to help this administration wage it’s fraudulent “war on homeland terror” than a guy who helped sweep the October Surprise, 9/11, and Iran-Contra under the rug?

So Pelosi isn’t alone in her treason.

Later we will talk about Steny Hoyer and many others from our side of the isle.

But today, I proudly offer, as the 3rd most despicable sellout in our nation, the once proud Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

She made history as the first woman to hold that position then she made history to be the first woman to sell it out to the highest bidder. Our Democratic party needs to be rid of people like this. If her local election in San Fran is anything but Diebold and ES&S, I sincerely hope Cindy Sheehan kicks her ass clean out of office. But I won’t hold my breath.
