THIS IS AN URGENT ACTION ALERT:

(the following is from Restore the Republic’s Gary Franchi)

If this bill is passed, and becomes law, your words and actions could be considered terrorism.  S 1959 EVISCERATES FREE SPEECH, and empowers the govt. to declare ANYTHING they deem an “extremist belief system”, instantly make you a terrorist, resulting in stripping of US citizenship, torture, and/or execution, with no habeas corpus rights, no ability to challenge even in the US Supreme Court.

Contact your Senator and let them know they will be looking for another job if they vote yes on this bill, which is now introduced into the Senate as S.1959 THIS BILL **MUST NOT** BECOME LAW, PERIOD.

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s110-1959

If this becomes law, your words could be considered “promoting an extremist belief system”, and all they have to say is that you are using PLANNED OR THREATENED *FORCE* (DOES NOT HAVE TO BE VIOLENCE) –FORCE by exposing CORRUPTION, CRIMINALITY against “THE CIVILIAN POPULATION OF THE UNITED STATES, *****OR ANY SEGMENT THEREOF” READ THE BILL MANY TIMES AND VERY CAREFULLY–YOU ARE THE TERRORIST (WHICH MEANS THEY CAN STRIP YOUR CITIZENSHIP, AND HAVE YOU TORTURED AND EXECUTED).

Senate is back in session today, do not hesitate, call, fax, email your Senator ASAP.   Click here for your Senators contact info:

Many have suggested here that this bill does not pose the threat that is suggested by myself and Mr. Franchi….

I have address those comments in a new post here.  It includes text from the bill as well as a must see video from the hearing before the subcommittee.

  1. James Aaron Says:

You need to read more carefully. This bill does none of the things you suggest.

  2. willyloman Says:

This bill, coupled with others already passed sets the foundations for all of the things that Franchi suggests and more.

Within the bill itself is language that mentions those who would be considered “anti-globalists”.

The presentation givin before the House, put up screen-shots of AE911Truth and others. This bill sets up a commission to study what is happening with the “homegrown terrorists” sites and then they will make reccomendations on how to solve the “problem”.

So, yes, this bill does exactly what Mr. Franchi suggests it can.

I read the bill and it sets up a commission empowered to give a report. This is not to say it is a good bill or there aren’t other bad ones/existing laws out there, and civic activism is great, but there is nothing in here that regards “stripping of US citizenship, torture, and/or execution, with no habeas corpus rights, no ability to challenge even in the US Supreme Court.”

  9. Tim Says:

How many people have to read this bill to you before you realize that it doesn’t do ANYTHING like what you’ve suggested? James Aaron and Junk have it right.

Interestingly, there’s a clause that actually limits the Homeland Security’s ability to take steps that could violate a citizen’s civil rights. Sounds to me like they’re dismantling the Internet.

Someone should call Al Gore and tell him about this. - Tim

  12. willyloman Says:

Well, Rose…. there is no advertising here, in case you missed that fact. “More hits” means nothing to me. What does mean something is keeping our ability to write and blog with whatever we want to without the Cheney administration shutting us down or looking over our shoulders.

But thank you for the insight.

  15. warmfuzzykitten Says:

Alarmist nonsense. As several others who actually read the bill have noted, it establishes a committee to deliver a report. Period.

  16. willyloman Says:

It establishes the committee to make reccomendations for ACTION. It establishes the language that includes dissenters as “terrorists”.

I have read it as well. And because of this man’s article, so has 5000 others from this site alone.

  17. Tim Says:

The unfortunate truth here is that as previously stated, this bill (coupled with existing laws that have come in under the radar) will in fact dilute our abilities to exercise free speech.

In the midst of any military action to take over a country, it is the rule of thumb to control the media. Once the radio/TV/Internet is controlled, it is a simple matter of flexing muscle to have people fall into line. While we are NOT in the midst of a military takeover, ther IS a takeover nonetheless. The takeover is being orchestrated by Bush/Cheney, and has been since day 1. Each step taken by this administration has been to curtail and surveil. Curtail our constitutional rights (such as free speech and habeus corpus), and surveil our actions (Patriot Act, domestic wiretapping, etc).

I am NOT a conspiracy nut or left wing lunatic. Indeed, I have voted Democratic most of my adult life, I never believed such things could come to pass. This is NOT the America I grew up in, and is NOT the one I look forward to dying in. WE (the people) must rise up and say NO MORE. NO MORE stripping away our guaranteed freedoms for the sake of false “security”. NO MORE “Big Brotherish” activities by the government to meddle in my personal freedoms. NO MORE pontificating and legislating morality.

This is a VERY dangerous bill, and only an ostrich or a fool would have his head so far in the sand to not see this.

  18. Jim Says:

At a time when the government is indeed passing laws which actually do abolish, infringe, and restrict our civil rights, it is unfortunate that you have chosen to misrepresent this bill as one which will “label us all terrorists!!”

It labels no one. It establishes a commission to study the “problems” of “violent radicalization”, “home grown terrorism”.

That’s all it does, establish a committee to study these alleged dangers.

Now it can very well be argued that these “problems” do not exist, or that there existence is not significant enough to justify a commission to study the “problem.”

I would agree completely with those assertions.

However, to state that this bill does anything more than establish a commission to study these “problems” is the worst kind of misrepresentation.

    Why?

Because it is certainly within the realm of possibility that the future findings of this committee may be used as the basis for future legislation WHICH WILL threaten our civil liberties.

When and if that occurs, THAT bill is the one to oppose.

But misleading people about the intent of this bill, as you have done, will extinguish your credibility in the eyes of those who take the time to read this bill. And you’ll likely be ignored when you begin spouting off again about the LATEST THREAT TO CIVIL LIBERTIES, having established yourself as at best an exaggerator, and more accurately a liar, concerning the current bill.

  20. Stef Says:

So if what you’re saying is true, then our founding fathers are spinning in their graves, and that the constitution and the Bill of Rights gets thrown out with the trash.

Are you shittin’ me, or what?

I haven’t had a chance to read the whole thing, but it sounds like that only a commission is to be formed to give a report. I don’t recall anything about having rights stripped away, voiding your citizenship or torture, but again, I haven’t read the whole thing in its entirety.

But the thing that DOES bother me is that you sound like the little boy who cried wolf. Soon, no one will believe you if what you think this bill says does come to pass.

In the mean time, I’m going to say what I want, and if someone wants to disagree, then fine. No one ever said that everyone has to agree on anything everyone else says.

I’ll reserve any more comments until after I’ve had a chance to read the proposed bill more carefully. But for right now, I think you’re a crackpot.

  21. willyloman Says:

Stef, you need to pay attention! What do you think the Patriot Act and the Millitary Commissions Act and the revised FISA Bill are doing to the “founding fathers”?

Can’t wait till it’s too late and then say “wow! How did we let this happen?”

But if you don’t believe us, then fine, but please read the new post and watch the video from the House meeting on the Homeland Security Subcommittee opening statements and then tell me you aren’t a little concerned about our first amendment rights.

And keep knocking them back down, willy. You are right. This bill, coupled with others enacted into law already, theoretically gives them the right to strip you of everything meaningful to being an American. It’s unconstitutional, and the trick will be to get the constitutionality of this before a judge. While the constitution does allow the Congress to strip the Judiciary of its power to review certain subjects, I simply do not see how one of those subjects of which they can strip the court’s review can be ione of your constitutional rights. The very fact that such a law is presented that takes away those rights and declares itself unreviewable is, itself, an attack on the constitution. Shame on anyone in Congress who votes for it. Shame on anyone who supports it.

Anyway, it seems to me that some folks are terrorists and should be labeled as such, why not have a commission determine who’s and wh’ain’t a terrorist/Islamofascist/IslamoStalinist/ect. ect. et cetera?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Just like in that movie with the guy who wore that mask and was a t’rrist and all. You know the one I mean… he had the mask and they played the music and he killed those guys and that hot chick was in the movie too. Too bad her head was shaved through part of it. I forget how that happened.

What was I sayin’? Oh, right. That guy i…
Wait… that’s who the mask was of! “Guy” Somebody!

Oh well, nevermind. Anyway, he was a dangerous t’rr’r’st, and we can’t have the likes of him roamin’ the streets without a proper appellation.

The COMMITTEE on Un-American Activities. ONLY a commission. That never harmed anyone, right?

    “`(h) Powers of Commission-

    `(1) IN GENERAL-

`(A) HEARINGS AND EVIDENCE- The Commission or, on the authority of the Commission, any subcommittee or member thereof, may, for the purpose of carrying out this section, hold hearings and sit and act at such times and places, take such testimony, receive such evidence, and administer such oaths as the Commission considers advisable to carry out its duties.”

“`(3) HOMEGROWN TERRORISM- The term `homegrown terrorism’ means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.”

“threatened” — “coerce” — “…in furtherance of political or social objectives”

This is every person who participated in protests against Vietnam in the 60’s that turned “violent”. Does this include when the “police” start then escalate the violence?

What is wrong with you people that say “this is JUST a commission” ??!!

PLEASE read a history book. This is NOT AMERICA ! This is the road to fascism.

Don’t think it can never happen here. That is very shortsighted and naive.

  33. DeeJack Says:

I agree with you. Surely but slowly things are happening. Those that disagree with you are not seeing the big picture. The Republican debate tonight (I’am Independent) was very interesting for the first time I heard Revolution. Ron Paul said and i quote from the recording “This country is in a revolution and thier sick and tired of what they’re getting and I happen to be luck enought to be part of it.”

This is only the beginning, the military is ordering crowd control weapons now. Things are going to be getting worst as time goes on. It is inevitably with the distrust of this government in all areas of responsibility. And the people are going to start demanding change. Reform is not going to work any more. Throw the rascals out did not work, and it has gotten a lot worse.

I worry about the elections becomming riged using the new voteing machines. Did anyone get to vote for this type of voteing machine. No. All of a sudden they was everwhere, and flawed. The voteing machines is a bigger problem than most know.

Thanks for the alert and hey, alarmist or not, it’s foolish to think “just a committee” doesn’t have many, many implications. Think about how many times we’ve heard the word “committee” in the last ten years and under which guise…
God is still in control but He doesn’t expect us to “do nothing”, which, judging by the numbers who don’t even vote, is what a lot of us are doing!

The law sets up a commission to study non-mainstream groups and report on what to do about them. Without getting sensationalist, this is still not a good thing. The government has a pretty extensive track record of labeling non-violent groups as threats (marijuana users anyone?) and then causing massive social harm.

  39. incogman Says:

This is not something that’s tin-foil hat or kool-aid drinker stuff at all. Those derogatory concepts have been introduced into the populace in a clever way for people to discount the increasing obvious any more:

And that we do indeed have a Jew Zionist plot to shut up this country to the real deal going down. Look at what our media ignores for chrissakes. The Nafta superhighway and all the evidence of NAU. The bountiful evidence of 9/11 being known in advance by the Israelis or very possibly being an inside job to begin with. The 10 billion we are now paying out to Israel. etc. ETC.

People, we’ve heard all the stories down thru the years. Here’s an idea: What if it’s real!

Go to my blog: incogman.wordpress.com I’m now deemed mature since the Jews are all yaping away once again, with all the anti-Semitism gibberish that they’ve been using since day one to shut up anyone who’s made the connections. Good trick but it won’t last long.

    Incogman;
There is a reat deal of evidence about a great deal of people who had for-knowledge of the attacks of 9/11.
From the Pakistanis to the Saudis to members of this administration as well as certain bankers and Wall Street investors. It would seem that members of the Carlyle Group as well.
Many people of Many different nationalities, and yes, some were Israeli. Certainly the ones standing on top of the van with the video recorder would be some.
    But not ALL.
The NAU is becoming a bigger and bigger issue in this country, and it must be exposed and halted. But, again, there are many players in that from the British Banks to the CFR… not just Israelis.

Your comments wont be sensored here, but, please, if you wish to mention those issues, be sure to include all the participants. We would hate to leave anyone out who deserved the recognition.

  42. Scott Says:

Congratulations on derailing the importance of this topic with your insipid, bigoted, “it’s the Jew Zionists” bullshit.

Yes there are zealots who want/need Israel to exist for their “rapture”, but there’s plenty of evil to go around to all concerned: Jews, Gentiles, Muslims, the entire human race, so drop that crap.

The one and only “plot” driving everything shitty in the world now is corporate money and creating new markets for more money.

Some in this country believe that quasi-fascism is the best business model. The same descendants of those who tried to implement it in 1932/3.

To think that it’s only “other” countries that can produce and elect these people is the height of arrogance and will be the ultimate cause of our downfall if people don’t wake up out of their self-serving agendas and start thinking about the big picture and “US” instead of “ME”

This bill is the FIRST step in formalizing a “norm” of speech and action by which to hold all citizens up to. The “norm” being whatever the “committee” deems “threatened” behavior in order to “coerce” the government “…in furtherance of political or social objectives”. That is the definition of protest, people!

  43. willyloman Says:

    Konservo;
No one here is suggesting a remedy like “The Final Solution”.

But, leave it to you to jump right for the melodrama.

I don’t know if there is anyone in the country that has to “Google” that term, that can tie their own shoes.

People know what it means and what you mean when you use it.

People are very upset that one country or another seems to have an unusual amount of influence on this country. Be it Saudi Arabia, China, or Israel. It is a legitimate concern, especially when one of those nations seems to be looking to pick a fight with Iran.

But I tend to believe that when the current administration justifies “The New Middle East” with talk of “our intrests in the region” they are talking about all three.

And what Incogman is refering to is that people will automaticly jump on the “Final Solution” bandwagon whenever someone tries to include Israel in that group of countries that possess unwarrented influence.

Your comment simply proves his point.

  44. willyloman Says:

Historically every society, including America, has had leaders that end end stretching their powers far beyond what the original law writers intended. As others have mentioned here, your head is in the sand if you don’t see what’s coming down the road.

Totally agree. Our tax money will fund S 1959 for what purpose? To protect corporate interests that are truly running this country and are responsible for the reprehensible hegemonic activity of this country for decades. This government is no different then those of China, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and other countries. They are in the pockets of corporations. The corporations dictate when to invade militarily and economically, when to ignore human rights violations and when to intervene in humanitarian causes in countries that have coveted resources. Who is going to pay for the largest U.S. embassy in history, in Iraq? Our children and continuing generations will put the money into the corporate pockets (HBR, et.al.) The government is broken because it is no longer a government of the people, by the people and for the people. It’s a government of the corporation, by the corporation and for the corporation.

This act may yield reports that will inturn suggest to authorities what actions should be taken by the FBI, homeland security, among others to nuetralize the “terrorist threat”
What we are starting to see now is “blow back” coined by the CIA as the definition of retaliatory attacks against the US because of US occupations of other sovereign nations. Blow back by the US people as a collective against the elitist occupation of our sovereign lives, dealings and freedoms . and they are working to do whatever they can to subdue these uprisings. The late 60’s yielded this same free thought and activism that inevitably helped to end the occupation of vietnam. We should use these same freedoms (while we still have them) to end the occupation of vietnOW (Iraq)and bring our friends and family home. We need help rebuilding our nation.

We as the American people need to recognize that our liberty is the jewel of our existence in a free republic and we should be suspicious of ANYONE that encroaches that jewel.
1 or 2 bills ,may not directly effect us now. but coupled with others from the past and future will. period
Never in my life would I have expected to see “free speech zones” last I checked according to the constitution every grain of US soil is a free speech zone..

I’ve already sent an e-mail to my senator Obama… his automated reply said that he will be voting for this and it’s for the best interest of the people. This right here is a prime example of despotism. Look up despotism, brittanica on youtube. Our country is not a democracy no longer and it will continue to be so if the American people DO NOT take action. This is a threat to anyone and everyone who does not agree with our government, America is becoming like China and other prime example of dictator-runned countries. Journalists and everyday Americans like us can potentially be labeled as terrorists for not agreeing with the government. In this bill and many other like these don’t really define thoroughly what and how they will consider someone being terrorist. Did you know that in some states’ state police guidelines read that people say they are exercising their 1st ammendment or constitutional rights are considered terrorists? Wake up people, this is not the same America we all grew up in. I see that this country is slowly losing the title, “land of the free”.

Bush just finished his “press” conference. His performance on national tv is more appalling than ever. Total indifference to facts about anything; Iranian’s lack of an active nuclear program, his credibility with the people, the lack of a budget. Budget. Budget? We got no budget. We have no way to include the Iraqi war (or any other war) in a budget. They’ve been cooking the books to write the budget. What’s really damning about this charade of a “press” conference is the press sitting there and writing their notes as if he’d given real answers to anything, and the rest of us sitting here and watching it(or not). The government is broken. How are we every going to fix it?

We’re going to impeach the bastards! And then let them be tried as the war criminals they are. Have faith, we’re not done yet.

Some in this country believe that quasi-fascism is the best business model. The same descendants of those who tried to implement it in 1932/3.

Right. We have more resurrected Nazi crap again. Put two and two together, nimrod. You think for one minute if such was the case, the media would be the way it is? The globalist Zionist, who’s pet project called “Israel,” obviously escaped your sterling logic. Plus, your Jane Harman, Zionist Jew Congress tool and the rest of the Zionist traitors in DC. Look at Mark Weitzmann of the Simon Weisenthal Center’s little dog and pony show to support HR-1955 and S-1959.

    It’s not NAZIS, it’s ZION-NAZIS.
