One question Keith asks that M. Mooredoesn’t really answer is “How does it benefit anyone, these 50 million Americans without any health-care?”, referencing Bush’s repeated vetoes of the SCHIP program. The answer is that the extension of this program is to include working families that cannot afford health insurance. The fact is that estimates show that a percentage of these families will sacrifice many other things or even take additional jobs, to be able to pay for the insurance with the SCHIP program extension. Those potential policies are what the veto is all about. And it is for those estimated 1 million new policies that President Bush is willing to sentence millions of families to hardships and suffering for the profit margins of the insurance companies.
